hi, im planning our 1st trip to usf this year and staying at the royal pacifica. we got a great entertaiment rate. my problem is we have 3 kids 5, 9 & 9 months at the time we are thinking of going. Is july just to crazy. i know we will use fotl but i heard thats not for everything and also the heat, i heard its really really bad. never been there in july. my daughter is in the 4th grade and is having alot of state test this year thats why i cant go off season. please help!!!

Any time is a good time with fotl! WE have gone in June and August, it was hot but we just kept getting wet! Between water rides and the fountains and the misters all over we did not suffer! Drink lots of water too.

With your room key you can cover over 3/4 of the park and attractions the rest wont be bad! The kids are gonna LOVE it! The Royal Pacific's pool is a kid magnet make sure you have plenty of pool time as well as park time. Enjoy!

I won't lie to you - it's hot and crowded. However, with FOTL it is definitely bearable. We were there in July this year and it was brutally hot. We were at WDW for two days and then Universal for three. Eventually, I had to go to the mall during the day to get out of the heat. The evenings were more tolerable. FOTL helps ALOT. All of that said, we still had a great time. You do what you can to stay cool. Take breaks. Go back to the hotel to swim.

Once the kids get older, you don't really have much choice!

We've been in July and August - it is really hot and the humidity is very high but with FOTL it is bearable. There are lots of icey sprays to cool down under and as long as you remember to drink plenty of fluids - you'll still have a wonderful time. The pool is particularly inviting and after a busy day at the parks, a lovely cocktail and soak in the pool is bliss!!! Just take your time and remember to go back to the hotel for the 9month child to have a nice sleep - I think at that age it's a bit difficult for them in the stroller in the heat to get a proper rest - they need a couple of hours completely out of the heat and in bed in the afternoon - but you can also have a rest and take it in turns to babysit while the other's splash around in the pool. Have a lovely holiday.

We've been there in July twice. It's hot, but not awful. Just go early. Then take an afternoon break at the hotel and enjoy the pool. Go back to the parks in the evening. The great thing about July is the parks are open late and there are nightly FIREWORKS!!:Pinkbounc

It is hot and it is busy, but no, with FOTL you have nothing to worry about and you are not crazy. You will also be there when the park is open later so you can go to the park in the morning, go back to resort and rest/swim, and go back at night for the fireworks.

We stayed this past July and LOVED it!

True. From Jul 4 - Aug ?? there are fireworks and IOA (hopefully USF again) will be open until 10p and will have fireworks around 950-955p.

We were at IOA the last week in June and it was HOT! Your 5 & 9 y/o's would do fine with plenty of liquids, sunscreen, visits to indoor attractions like Spiderman and playtime in the water areas. I would be very concerned about the baby.

Have you considered trying to go over a school holiday such as Thanksgiving? Our school usually has half days etc.. so you really don't miss much class time - even if you are gone for a whole week. We have gone to WDW just about every year at that time, once when my son was only 5 months old, and it really worked out well. My dd is now in 3rd grade and I know how difficult it is to miss school!

It is such a hard decision! Another thing you could do is make plans for you and your husband to take turns being inside with the baby, or just take him into the parks in the evening when it is cooler and the sun is not so strong. It is so easy for them to get overheated.

As for FOTL - it is the best! The parks were fairly crowded and the most we ever waited was 5 minutes! It makes touring very easy!

If you can afford it I would also suggest that for several hours one day (two days if you can swing it) you get a sitter and bring the older two kids into the park without the baby. Your 5yo should be tall enough to go on all but the thrill rides and it would be nice for you to have a chance to all go together without having to use the baby swap.

We've done this a couple of times at WDW and once were able to go to E-night without our then baby.

Great idea Tigger and Belle. I have never thought of that. Thank you for sharing.

We went in July this year and it was definitely HOT, but bearable. FOTL makes the difference. We went early to the parks, took a break around lunchtime, went swimming at the hotels, and then went back to the parks in the evening. Next year we're going in June, because we just can't stand the anticipation. July seems soooooo far away.

I agree about taking a midafternoon break and then going back to the parks. In July there's usually an afternoon thunderstorm anyway, so it's a great time to go back to the hotel and rest. We had always gone to WDW in Nov. but one year had to go in July. I swore I'd never do that again because of the heat and crowds. This past summer we ended up going again in July, but it wasn't nearly as bad at US because of the fotl access and the convenience of the onsite hotel in walking distance. It was so successful that we're going again this next July! Enjoy your time, but remember to take breaks back at the air-conditioned hotel! It will save you from feeling like your dragging yourself (and kids) from place to place. You'll have plenty of time to see everything with the fotl access.
