Am I correct?

We want to squeeze in a quick 3 days as part of another trip. We've done WDW several times before, and just want to hit our favorites, which include BB and DQ. Before we have always done a package deal, but don't want all the extras this time. Am I correct that I can:
(1) book just a room and use my AAA for a discount, and
(2) purchase an Ultimate PHP separate.
We would arrive at the hotel (probably WL) late, about 10 or 11pm, and would want the UPHP to use beginning the next day for three days. We want to stay at the hotel for only 3 nights, so on our third morning we want to check out and use our passes for the rest of the day.
If this is correct, it looks like buying the passes in advance instead of at the hotel would be cheaper. I'm confused however when I see it reads '2 nights' when I put in my arrival and departure dates that include the first day I am going to use my pass. (Does this make sense?) Thanks!!

You can book room only and SOMETIMES get a AAA disount. They are not always available, however.

I don't think you will be able to have your UPH start the next day if you buy it in advance. You can buy it at check-in, though, and have that to happen. When you are putting in the day you want the UPH to start, you are getting a quote for only two nights.
