I am not sure if all the character meals' prices go up and down with the on and off-peak seasons, but Goofy's does. Right now, it's off-peak so Goofy's would be at its lowest price, which is still expensive. Having that AP definitely helps to get a discount.

But, yeah, I guess depending on what you ordered at Blue Bayou for your child, you could probably pay much less to eat there than at a character meal. I think we all agree that character meals are costly, so that is why it's so important to make sure you really want to eat at one of them so the money spent is worth it. It is too much money to take a risk on if you are not sure.

Yep, most likely! You can't share a character meal, whereas at BB you could easily share something like a Monte Cristo and have plenty. That would run you around $20 or so plus drinks (if you wanted them), tax and tip. I just checked character meal prices for this coming week and they run roughly $35/adult and $20/child, which includes tax and tip but not the handling fee. I think that's around $5. So...character meal = $55 + $5 handling, BB = ~$40.

eta: we usually share a MC and just get water or share one mint julep at BB so the price would be less than quoted above (~$25-30).

Yep, it could very well be cheaper. But you don't get the character interaction. Thats part of the price.
