Glad the misunderstanding's been sorted out.
Now to get back on topic .....
I think this says it all. If you knew that deep down he really wanted to do something/go somewhere else then I'd say yes you were being a bit selfish. However it seems obvious to me that he gets the most pleasure from doing family things especially geared for the kids so I'd say go ahead and book and enjoy planning it.
You can always choose a more adult treat for his 50th - although both DH and I chose to celebrate ours at Disney!

Thanks guysproblem is he doesnt want to do anything he said,we always end up going somewhere the kids would like,for my last birthday we went to watch Thomas the tank engine at the Cinema,and for his we went to Cadbury World!
