Am I asking too much?

We are renting a home for Easter. I was wondering why owners are not willing to accept pay pal? I am willing to pay for the fee. I have ran across two owners that have had great deals but did not want to deal with pay pal. These owners are oversea so I am not comfortable sending a check or money order. What is so bad about pay pal? Are there alternative payment options so everyone can be protected?

pay pal has been know to take money and only find out the real details later.

several DVC members have complainted about it too.

will they take your cc?

You might want to consider my problem posted below "Dispute with Vacation Home Owner". I sent a check to a UK owner against my better judgement and now I am out the money.

Using a credit card through PayPal I think offers the most protection.

I always liked using a credit card through Paypal when paying for things, but refused to set up my own account to accept them. Once you did that (and this has been a long time ago) you had to pay fees for all transactions, whether the buyer used a credit card or not.

I haven't used the account at all in quite some time.

i do when the website wants me to - but stopped completely for a while. paypal had set up my account to instantly go to my checking account no matter what.

so had to take the checking account out. they have tried several times to get put it back. but NO WAY.

you have to be carefully with paypal like the other websites.

some people only read their emails once a week. She may be sick, on vacation, etc.

if you have not heard back from her in a week - then they may be a problem.

I don't really know why they are not wanting to accept a PayPal transaction and you are also happy to pay the fee. We have had a lot of success with guests paying via PayPal and found no problems with the service. To make a payment to an owner you should not need to log into your own account and be able to make the payment with your credit card without a problem. The service is easy to use for both parties.

A few years back my husband's identity was hijacked thru using PayPal - they even hijacked his email so that they could confirm transactions. Unfortunately not only did we have our business cc attached to PayPal also our business checking account. In 30 minutes they managed to steal $7000. We aren't fans of PayPal, needless to say.

Find out who their management company is and see if they can accept a credit card payment from you. Every owner, especially those overseas, will have a local MC dealing with the day to day running and maintenance so this is probably your best option.

They more than likely have a US bank account -running a second home in Florida is impossible without one.Can't you make a deposit straight to that or send a check to their man co-that's how a lot of my bookings are done.

If you really trust them, you could wire the money. Any bank should be able to do it.

I had someone steal ~600.00 from my checking account via Paypal. It took Paypal ~ 2 weeks to return my money to me. Reaked havoc with my checking account.

There are hackers that get your password when you use Paypal on the 'net.
