Am I able to upgrade 1 day hopper to 2 day non hopper?

My understanding is - If it is an UNUSED hopper, meaning you have not entered the park with it yet, you should be able to apply the cost to a 2-day non-hopper. But if you entered the park with it, you will have to get the 2-day hopper.
