Ok, DH says I'm being a weirdo because I don't ever want to visit SeaWorld when we got to Orlando. He thinks our 2 DS's would love it and would get so much out of it.
Next year will be our 5th trip and we've never been. I really do not want to go - I'm not an animal lover at all, I would even go as far to say that I don't like animals (but I'd never do anything to hurth them  ). I could never touch a fish :fish: - and I will never clean out the goldfish bowl (a bit scared....:scared: ) I don't mind visiting zoos or safari parks - but that's about it. Anyone else like this?? or am I really a weirdo!!

Hi,

Sea World is my favourite place!

I just love those Dolphins. I would not like to touch fish either but touching the Dolphins is nothing like that feeling, they in fact feel dry and sort off rubbery.

Took our two grand-daughters last November it was also their favourite park. The learnt so much whilst they were there.

The Polar bears were favourites too.

Sea World is a very educational park, and great fun.

weirdo, weirdo!! Only joking Cath;)

I love Seaworld, I would say if you like visiting Zoo's and Safari Parks you will enjoy it there. There are some rides too and as Lynda said it is educational. I would save give it a try!

You should give it a try, it is brilliant. One of my favourite parks.

We've been to Orlando 5 times and never visited Seaworld....and don't plan to. It's not my thing either.

We've been twice and visited Seaworld both times, but have decided not to on this trip.
Now we've been to discovery cove - the dolphin experience at Seaworld loses some appeal and once you've seen all the shows they don't change much next time round.
As we don't really do the big coasters it only really leaves Journey to Atlantis - but It's not worth paying the extra for entrance for only the one ride.....

SeaWorld has much more than fish!! There are some fabulous attractions and rides.......plus free beer too at the Bud Plant at a picturesque setting by the water watching pink flamingos. You used to be able to tour the Plant but now you just sample the beers!! Shark encounter is rather good as you walk along a moving walkway surrounded above and all sides by Sharks!!!! Atlantis - a great water ride. Polynesian Luau Show is good too to relax with a cocktail. The Sealion and Walrus - Clyde and Seamore Show is hilarious - and one not to be missed - you will love it. It's a wonderfully relaxing park and my 2 kids always like to go to SeaWorld on the first day in Florida - as it gently gets you into the "park" thing without being too hectic for a first day.
I think you should try it this time and then let us know what you thought!!;)

Erm, I am not a SeaWorld fan. Last went in September and got the second day free ticket. Didn't use it!

The food was very expensive (even by Disney standards!) and poor quality. The park didn't seem as tidy or as well staffed as Disney/Universal. Plus, I couldn't get into a 'flow'. The start times of the shows didn't seem to have any thought put into them and you ended up being forced to choose between which shows you wanted to see.

Maybe it was just because it was off-season, but I really don't rate SeaWorld Orlando... Sorry to all it's fans out there!

No I've never been either. It just doesn't appeal. I thought I might go next trip so I got the planning video and that has put me off again.

I also have no idea why swimming with dolphins appeals to so many people.

Libby

Not fans either.

We went on our first visit - but weren't overly keen. Although I've never really thought of myself as an animal lover, I found the shows a bit upsetting. I was quite surprised that I felt so sad. I think it was the undignified way that the killer whales were used to provide what I felt was cheap entertainment for humans. They are magnificent creatures and I guess I was a bit ashamed at how they are used to do tricks to keep us amused.

I can't really explain it better than that. but we never went back after the first time.

We never visited on our first trip, but went for the first time last year, We really enjoyed it, Dp wasn't overally impressed, but he enjoyed the dolphins, so did chelsea, it was very educational, and chelsea enjoyed the water play area, and shamu, I think you have to go at least once, to just see what its like, if its not your cup of tea, it just isnt.
Dp doesnt want to go back this time, but we will.

Your not weird though, I've never fancied busch gardens, but we are going to try it this time around, as we have been told its v.good, although I've heard plenty negative comments on it...but I will see, then decide if to go back in the future ( oh lord I am not going to book again? :p )

not my favourite park either,we went in febuary arrived around 10 am and left after dinner.the killer whale show was ok and the penguins but after that zzzzz.everyone thought we were weirdos too for not liking it but there ya go.agree with GO2209 about the food too.

It is not one of our favourite parks but we tend to always go there as we have the 14 day flex ticket so may as well get our money's worth.

It is totally different to all the oher parks, I guess having been several times over the years it has dropped on our list of priorities.

We just tend to go once for a couple for hours , it is a nice park to walk round in the evening, as our son is Autistic we try and see if he can make a connection with the Animals, possibly wouldn't bother going otherwise.

Can understand why people don't like the shows, not really sure on the moral issues of providing enetertainment, I am sure that a lot of sick Manattees etc have been rescued over the years, guess it's a personal thing really.

If you have never been I would say it is worth going , everybody has different opinions on all the parks so you just have to make your own mind up.

We love Seaworld, it's one of our faves too! We always find it's one of the more relaxing days we have. You can stroll around at your leisure and decide which shows to turn up for. It is very educational, but not at all in a boring way!

My DD did 'Trainer for a Day' and will tell you that is the best memory she has of Orlando.

I love the feel of Seaworld. It's clean and we ate twice last year at the new area and the food was great!

There are so many shows, the stadiums are large enough that you all get to see what you want. Makes a nice change from having to stand in line for most things.

As Selina said the 'free Bud area' is fantastic (God bless the server who asked me for ID when I was 39!)

I think you need to make up your own mind. This will be our 10th trip and we have only not done Seaworld on one visit and we missed it!

Seaworld is the only park we do without fail on every trip (7 so far!). It's our favourite park by far!

Give it a try, you won't regret it!

Dave.

Count me as one of those who's never been and has no desire to go - and I've truly lost count the number of times I've been to Orlando. Most people I've spoken to really enjoy it, but I can't bring myself to see marine creatures performing for entertainment. I know they are supposed to be well cared for and a good deal of conservation work gets done there, but still can't warm to the idea.

Gatorland is another one I would need paying to attend. I once saw them advertising it somewhere with a live gator with its mouth taped up. Not nice. Give me a a big fake mouse anyday ::yes::

I feel much better now - I'm not weird after all!!!::yes::

Thanks for making me feel better - (esp Libby and Pootle!!..) ;)
As for Gatorland - another one on DH's wish list for future trips. Sorry - not for me, I'd be bored. :bored:

Give me a a big fake mouse anyday

I'll second that;)

We've been to Orlando 5 times and have only been to SeaWorld twice - but we're going this year it was in the top 3 of my childrens must do's list.

Hi

I absoloutly love Sea World. This is the only park I will do without fail. I don't want this to sound offensive, but I have to say it. I think that if your children and your husband want to go, then I would make the effort to try another park and hey its only one day!

My husband really wanted to go to NASA that to me sounded BORING! He really wanted to go so I thought that it wasnt just me on this holiday and it was going to be 1 day of bordem. In fact I kinda enjoyed it, because it was different and I could come home and say I have been there. My husband got what he wanted. It is all give and take in Florida, there are loads parks.

Seaworld has so much. You can book tours, feed dolphins and stingrays (which your kids would love), shark encounter, rides, shows, nice walk etc.........

I hope this doesnt sound offensive or nasty. It wasnt my intention. I just wanted to put another view on here.

Hope you have a great time, in whatever you decide to do.

Michelle

Absolutely agree with you. Quite surprised at the few negative responses. It's a shame because Sea-World is such a nice park to do. But there you go, everyone has an opinion I guess.
