AM FP and refresh or PM FP?

My son and I are going on a short trip (only 3 park days). I plan to hop from HS to EP on our final park day. I couldn't get a FP for SDD, so I elected to select FP for our afternoon in EP figuring we'd rope drop HS and get through most of our plan by noonish. We'll want to do SDD, TSM, RnRC and Star Tours, not sure about AS2 or ToT.

I'm wondering, though, if it wouldn't be better to get FPs for HS and then work on same day FPs for EP. I currently have TT, Mission Space and Spaceship Earth. We'll also want to do Soarin', though FEA is likely not going to interest DS7. HS has EMH at 8am. According to TP, HS is a 1 crowd level and EP is a 4.

What do you think? Keep what I've got or make FPs for HS and hope for the best later in the day at EP?

That's a personal style preference. For us, I don't see the purpose of ever "saving" FP+ for later in the day. Refreshing makes it unnecessary. We start using FP+ from the moment we get to the parks, even if it's 9:30am and don't stop using them until we leave. So I'd make HS FP+ and then get them for Epcot later if it were me.

Ignore the crowd calendars.

Thanks @Klayfish. I'm thinking your way makes the most sense. It's been some time since we've spent multiple days in the parks, so refresh is new to me.

I'm doing a mix of AM FP and PM FP. I also have some midday FP thrown in. It really depends on our plans, which park we are hopping to, if we are only going for an evening show, ADRs, etc.

In your case I would FP+ at DHS and once you tap into your last ride I would look for a same day FP at Epcot. Epcot has four rides as Tier 1's. All of the other rides have pretty good same day availability every time I check. Especially Soarin. I even see Frozen pop up a lot around noonish for the afternoon.

your particular tier 1 at Epcot may or may not be available. I think it's likely that one of the 'big three' will be available if you are persistent. TT also offers single rider but might not be a great option for you guys. Your other Epcot FP+ you will almost certainly be able to get later on. I think your waits for all of those DHS rides, even in the morning, are going to be more substantial that waiting for one ride at Epcot later potentially.

So, I’m regretting my initial decision. At this point, I can’t get morning FPs for HS. Should I keep what I have and try closer to the trip to change to morning FPs at HS or should I swap morning and afternoon and move my EP FPs to the morning and hope for same day FPs at HS?

Stick with what you have. The morning Epcot stuff will not be easy to get either probably. It’s not a bad plan. Don’t sweat it. You can rope drop a couple of things with almost no wait. Especially on a “1” you should be ok.

With a party of two and a little refreshing, you could pull almost anything for additionals later in the day.
