with the Royal Pacific Resort? We were booked at HRH with a great rate for 9 nites, but I booked at the RPR instead as it was a few dollars cheaper, the theming looks great, and we are Loew's First Platinum members. We were booked for Club Level at HRH (we have never stayed at CL before) but since HRH is no longer a Loews hotel, I switched to RPR in a standard room, hoping to get an upgrade to a deluxe room or even CL. With tax, CL is $64 more than a standard room at RPR, but I have been offered a CL room at check-in at HRH before for $50. I booked online. Do I have to call and speak to a rep to check on an upgrade for Loews First members? Has anyone been offered CL for $50 lately upon check-in at RPR? I love the short walk to the parks from HRH but from the map, it looks like the walk from RPR isn't too much farther. I was kind of torn between the two pools because I really like having the water slide at HRH for my 12 year old. What do you think? Thanks everyone!

Countdown: 10 days till we arrive in Orlando, doing the Happy Dance :dancer:

You can still pool hop. We do the exact same thing since HRH is no longer a Loews Hotel. Yes, you need to call to get upgraded a youfirst upgrade. I haven't done club at RPR but lots of people seem to love it.

The walk is a bit longer and it takes you to IOA instead of USF. I don't consider the walk to be a big deal.

Yes, you will be disappointed...

That you skipped staying at the RPR on previous trips!:rotfl2:

Yes, you need to call to get upgraded a youfirst upgrade.

When I made my reservation for RPR, they said because I am a YouFirst member to ask for the room upgrade when checking in. Can you call before checking in to be upgraded?

It depends on which You First level you are on. If you are Gold or Platinum you get an upgrade at time of booking if available.

I agree!!

We've stayed at RPR Club Level and we REALLY loved it!

I don't remember the difference in walking to the parks between RPR and HRH, but I do remember that the RPR walk wasn't bad at all. It drops you off right at CityWalk by the Jimmy Buffet place (very close to IoA).

Hope you have a great trip!!!

i have over 22 stays at HRH and switched to RPH for this past trip.
it was my second stay at rph.

i did not regret it.
my new home is RPH......i am already planning to book for next year there.

i am platinum also.
when you book, you can get the upgrade at that time. you do not have to wait until you check in as the gold and blue level status must.

the upgrade is a king suite but you will not be eligible for it as you have 5 in your group.
king suites are only for 3.

the deluxe will give you more bed space but you need to book that in advance.
not all couches are pull outs so you need to specify for one that does.

but, an upgrade for platinum from a standard room booking is not the deluxe room.

i assume you would have to pay for the upgrade.

i know peeps have come on the boards and talked about the exceptions made for them but it is better to contact loews and the hotel to discuss your situation and needs with them.

loews website states the upgrades and costs based on status level.
the hotels can do upgrades if they choose to.

if the occupancy level is high when you check in, it might be difficult to get the room that would fit your needs if you are counting on an upgrade.

call and work with loews and the hotel prior to checking in.

if the deluxe rooms are totally booked up, you will not have an opportunity to have an upgrade even if you are willing to pay for one.

i had one friend that was platinum and did not request the free upgrade when making the ressie at rph.

at the friend's check in, no upgraded rooms were available but the standard room was changed to a pool/water view as a courtesy.

i wish you the best in getting the room of your choice.
you still have time to make a few calls and find out what rooms are available besides the standard rooms and what are the fees for deluxe rooms.

club is nice at RPH.
some with families feel it is worth it due to the food and beverage offerings.

for me, i stick with the free $100 food and beverage credit at the hotels on the platinum status.
i go solo and it is not worth it for me to do club for the food offerings.

i'm a coffee and water person that does not eat breakfast.

What?!? I never knew about this, and we've been platinum for years! What are the details? YouFirst site doesn't give any details.

http://www.loewshotels.com/en/YouFirst/Benefits.aspx

It is listed on the Loews YouFirst site.
it's listed on the front page of the benefits for youfirst members.

it is the last benefit listed that is bolded.
Only valid for platinum members.

I know it was available last year also as I was platinum then also.
I saw it on the Loews benefit site.

When you charge food, beverages to your hotel room, anything $100 or less, those charges are deducted from your hotel charges when you check out.
If you charge more than $100 back to your room, you will be responsible for those charges.

When you request charging privledges at the hotel, you do have to have your credit card on file.

It is only valid for RPH and PBH charges.
HRH is not in the you first Loew's program

Thanks for the detail - website doesn't give any.

Was this a benefit of Loews First before the switch to YouFirst? I hope not - we've stayed at least 3 times as platinum members and we never charge to the room (always use credit card). If I had known about this, we certainly would have!

Sorry for the thread hijack.

I got the $100 credit this year, actually got it 3 times in July as we stayed at RPR- Don Cesar and PBH, so $300 for being a member which was great. do not think i got it last year, and it was NOT available with the old Loews First, only since the You First.

it was available last year at the 2 on site Loews hotels at universal.
my last year's stay was in october.

I believe it took effect in July 08.

okay, thanks - good to know. our last trip was 4/08, so no loss.
