Patio dresses? Now I'm even more confused as to where these are to be worn. :confused3

One of these might have helped when I was dragging the garbage can down the driveway at 5:00am this morning...

When my Grandmother was alive she would put a house coat over her nightgown to "hide things". They are worn around the house with fancy bedroom slippers. I have seen a few older women wear them to the store, but that is a faux pa (spelling?). This garment allowed you to let everything hang free but still be well concealed!!!! :teeth:

Do you have to have a patio in order to wear one? :confused3

Rayon crinkle rocks. :thumbsup2 :teeth:

I do have lots of bead from Mardi Gras yesterday. Maybe one of those would make a good "costume" next year.

60 and collecting lots of beads,

sounds like you know how to have a good time....

What's up with the young model on the right? Is that really a target demographic here?

I've also heard them called dusters. I guess because you would wear them while cleaning the house? :confused3

DM lives in a retirement apt house, and I see LOTS of these around, although they are frowned upon.

Another thing, along with bathing caps (I don't mean the type that real swimmers wear, but the kind with flowers, etc on them) that I put on my "I don't care if I live until I'm 95 I'm never wearing one!" list. :rotfl:

I was wondering the same thing. And why doesn't she have a pretty background like the other lady?

I was also wondering what modeling God she angered to end up in that ad! :rotfl2:

My mother always called them house dresses or dusters and yes, I'm sure she still wears them. Please put me out of my misery if I ever wear them. You all think that holiday sweaters are bad??? :rotfl2:

Aren't these just meant for when a person is working around the house? If that is true, they're probably no worse than the sweat pants with holes I wear when I do heavy duty cleaning.

I do wonder about the young model though. She seems out of place.

Seriously, are they all nightgowns? Some of them nightgowns? Do you wear them around the house? The yard? Do you wear sleepwear underneath or is THAT the sleepwear? :confused3

I swear I am not making this up - I just got back from lunch at a nice restaurant on St. Charles. While I was waiting for a table this lady walks in wearing one of these "things" in purple with butterflies embroidered all over it.

I almost lost it right then and there. I did not have my camera/phone with me or I might have been tempted to take a picture of her. Let me tell you it looks worse on a real person.

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 For 60!!

:tink: Congrats on your upcoming birthday and may you have many happy and healthy returns!!

Thank you so much for your compliments and kind words. My birthday isn't until August, but one can't start planning too far ahead. I passed that magical 59 1/2 mark last month. Those of us in our age bracket know how important that is for retirement.

When others are posting that no one needs to wear jeans that come above the waist - I am thinking - my waist is so covered up by "overblouses" that who would know where my jeans hit!

I love life these days. I'll take it however it comes - old age and all - beats the alternative.
