DIS member Luvinit had posted about finding Lime Green Mickey Heads at Home Depot and she even sent me two (Thanks again). I have since learned that these are the paint swatches for the Disney line of paint at HD so they are free to anyone. I would like to suggest that these be an alternative to the Lime Green Ribbon, not a substitute mind you, just in addition. I made mine into badges that I can wear or attach to a lanyard. Let me know your thoughts and maybe we can spread the word. For a lot of people, this may be easier to obtain than the ribbon.

I was at HD over the weekend seriously looking for paint for the kids rooms. They have a great display for the Disney paint and low and behold all the lime green Mickey heads were gone!! I think they would make cute pins for DIS'ers.

Thats a great idea. You could get some laminating paper and put over it so it wouldnt get torn up. You could also write Dis on it with your user name and/or real name. Towncrier made everyone some great lime green buttons for Dis con so Im going to wear that on my trips but those lime green mickey ears sound neat too.

Going this October and just learned about the Lime Green Ribbon thing -

Now I'll have lime green ribbon on the stroller and Lime green Mickey head badges!

Great Idea - had seen them at Home Depot before and it had not even occured to me....Thanks!:bounce:

The lime green ribbon and hopefully the lime green Mickey heads signify that you are a member of these boards. That way, other members can spot you at WDW and strike up a conversation. I have worn the ribbon before but now I have mad badges out of the Mickey heads and I will wear them from now on.

So, something like a lime green ribbon lanyard or something?

I play around with Sculpy clay (I make mostly eye-glasses-holder pins for the various seasons), and am going to do some things before our trip in May, as my current "GOOFY" is getting a little worn.

What can I do in that area that maybe isn't with ribbon, but with a pin or pendant that will qualify in the "lime green" department????

Can't wait to get started.....!!!!!!!!!:bounce: :bounce:

I went to HD today just to get a "few" of these paint samples. The guy working was so nice he got me a little baggie and was helping me bag some up. I'm thrilled. :bounce:

I think this sounds like a great idea! I'll be sure to stop in next time I'm driving past Home Depot!:bounce:

I just picked up my mickey heads from Home Depot. They are so cute, perfect for pin-making! Can't wait to wear it!

Thank you so much for telling me about this. I'm going to Home Depot and get me some paint swatches. What a cute idea!

Wal-Mart has a Disney paint display--do they have the swatches, too, anyone know?

Nativetxn,
Since you are a moderator, is there anyway to help spread this across the DIS so that more people will see it? Who knows, before long we may see these Lime Green Mickey heads on people all over WDW.

I'll copy it to the Community Board for you.

All the Wal-marts I have been to lately have discontinued the Disney Home line. They put all their stuff on clearance a few months ago, and now it's all gone  I thought about boycotting them, but I really go to Wally World about every other day, and couldn't do without it!! lol

It seems the original idea (for lime green ribbons) was for folks going to WDW in October. We're going in May. Does it matter who does it? We always look for hidden Mickey's -- how much more fun to look also for un-hidden DISBOARDS-ers (or whatever.......)!!!!!!

I was at HD last week and saw the display. I pulled some paint cards, but the Mickey heads were already in limited supply (and the colors they had left weren't MY colors), so I didn't grab any. I'll head back there today. I was just in Wal-Mart, glanced at their "Disney" decor, but didn't notice if they had the M-heads.

Is anyone else going around May 20 - May 30? We're staying at Coronado Springs. It will be a Mom and DS, 7, trip!
