We are going for a big family trip to the beach club in August and although we generally go every year to Disney we have said that 2026 seems like there will be a lot of construction going on. So we said we would skip Disney next year but as we’ve not really been many other places and we’re a little lost as to where to go! We just love the simplicity of knowing everything is taken care of at Disney and would love something similar

Any suggestions of where we should go? We will be two adults and an 8 year old

Discovery Cove and Kennedy Space centre are good options.

We have considered this ourselves, but realistically we decided we couldn't go, and NOT go to Disney, when it's right there within spitting distance! Originally we had thought of Universal, Busch Gardens, the water parks, and a few days on the Gulf Coast.

Parc Asterix, puertaventura? Californian disney? Canadian wonderland? An AI with waterpark and nearby places to visit? A cruise? An adventurous package safari or trip to Belize or peru? A wilderness type AI in Canada or on an American ranch? Legoland in Denmark?

I like Williamsburg, VA. Many timeshares there. Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens Amusement park. About 3 hours from Washington D.C, so you can visit there as well.

Do you mean in Florida or anywhere?

If you're happy to stay in Europe then I would really recommend Efteling and/or Europapark. Both are fantastic parks and great alternatives to the Disney parks. The rides are excellent as is the hotel accomodation. I had always dismissed other parks thinking they would like be like the Merlin parks we have in the UK (which are fine but I'm not really a fan of them). They are so much better and, in some ways, better than Disney. I find they're more relaxed and you don't feel so much like you're being squeezed for every penny, eg breakfast is still included.

The American southwest is an amazing area to visit! Santa Fe, NM, Grand Canyon, AZ (South Rim is easiest to get to and try to get El Tovar Hotel), Utah parks like Zion and Bryce. Monument Valley (just typing it sends chills up my spine)! Fly into Las Vegas, NV or Albuquerque, NM. There are so many cool places like Prescott, AZ and Flagstaff, AZ (eat at Black Bart's). There is a train that will take you into Grand Canyon. We didn't take it, but it was heart pounding when it pulled into South Rim. If you are an adventurous, casual traveler this may be the trip of a lifetime. We've done it twice at about 2000 miles of driving.

You will have to rent a car and carefully plan your trip as some roads are pretty remote and you need to have a place to stay and supplies with you. Always keep your gas tank filled and don't turn down a bathroom stop! Don't let anyone talk you into an EV.

Enjoy wherever you adventure to! :drive:
