Alternative Character Brek to Chef Mickey !

After Chef Mickey's, we like the Grand Floridian and Beach Club. Not as buzzy as the Contemporary but very nice.

Another Beach Club recommendation. :thumbsup2 It's in the restaurant there called Cape May Cafe - we did it in '06 and the breakfast was excellent... buffet style. We really enjoyed it. Also Crystal Palace in Magic Kingdom is fantastic. I don't think you'd be disappointed with either one. :woohoo:

We have been to 1900 and thoroughly enjoyed it - especially my mother as they had Alice and the Mad Hatter which brought back all sorts of memories apparently. Unfortunatly we have no photos or video of this as our cameras were stolen on the way back home :sad1: - but any excuse to go again :thumbsup2

We plan on doing Crystal Palace next year for a couple of reasons.
1. DW is a HUGE Tigger fan.
2. We have heard that if you plan this for a day when there are no EMH there is a good chance of getting a shot of the castle down a clear Main Street (maybe someone here could confirm that)

The best reviews tend to be for 1900 Park Fare (Grand Floridian), Cape May Cafe (Beach Club), Crystal Palace (Magic Kingdom) and Ohana's (Polynesian).

We are going to book 1900 Park Fare and Ohana's - mainly because part of our stay is at the Poly.

For a buffet, I'd pick Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club - good food and great character interaction. I particularly like that Donald's there now... :thumbsup2

Best character brekkie we've ever done has to be Ohana's. It's served "family style" with skillets of food regularly replenished and the characters are awesome - Lilo, Stitch, Mickey, Pluto etc... :cloud9:

We have done, the one at AK, Princess story book and Crystal palace, all were good. plan on trying the beach club next time.

Another vote for crystal Palace - we went on a normal park opening hours day and the place was empty it was great and felt like we were the only ones in the Magic Kingdom!

Princess Storybook, 1900 Park Fare and Crystal Palace are our favourites. Park Fare won best character interaction for us this year, although my sister wouldn't necessarily agree. My mum can't use my camera, so when the Mad Hatter got to our table, I took my mum's picture and was looking around for my sister who had gone to pick her way through the buffet. Anyway, Hatter sees me looking around and says 'should there be someone else here?'. I tell him 'yes, my sister.' Having asked her name, the next thing I know he stands in the middle of the room and yells out her name making everyone stop and stare at the poor girl!!! Sooooo funny!

Personally, none of us liked Chef Mickeys anyway, and are happy to go elsewhere. Haven't tried the Beach Club one yet, but did walk past it on our last Dis-Meet, and it looked good. Since we're aiming for a SSR/BWV stay in September, we may very well add it to our list since it will be just across the water! :goodvibes

I love chef mickeys and so did DD.We also liked garden grill at epcot. They have recently stopped the lunch with the characters but are still doing the evening.Depends on which charcters your kids like.
I have heard liberty tree tavern is good on the evening, doing it this time along with ohana breakfast and 1900 park fayre
as you can see from replys everyone likes different things but they are all good in there own ways.Good luck:thumbsup2

Crystal Palace gets our voyr for the alternative. Good character interaction and as said before going on a normal hours day, the place is empty and you are in the right place for the fun once you've eaten!:yay:

At the other end of the day, we have also had a late evening meal here and the characters were brilliant - minders made sure everyone had more photos than possible before they retired for the night, and also great photo op for the castle at night - although park was closed when we left Crystal Palace - noone hurried us out.:cool1:

We done Chef Mickeys last year and loved it. I messed up the ADR and we arrived a day early :lmao: but we got a seat anyway and even tho it was a late sitting, the food was still fresh and bountiful. Plus the crowds were starting to thin a little, so we got good character interaction :goodvibes

I'd love to try Crystal Palace next year. What time should we request an ADR for, if we want to go in before opening? If you have an ADR, do you just finish your breakfast and walk straight into the park? Does it mean you can get first in the line for your favourite ride if you finish brekkie before park opening?

Also, what is the characters at CP?

Cheers :thumbsup2

Definately Crystal Palace - Winnie the Pooh and friends.

The restaurant is beautiful, the food is very good, and the characters spend quite alot of time at your table 4 u 2 take piccies etc.

Kx

Crystal Palace is our family favorite, had a meal there each time we've been. It's not on the DP for 2009, but I think I'll buy breakfast there anyway, DD would be so disappointed if we didn't go (and me!) as it's become a family tradition.

Yes an early ADR on a non EMH morning is great - feels like park to yourself and great photo opportunity with castle.

We have done CP for my birthday and that was good. Liberty Tree was good for lunch/Dinner but I think it is no longer a Character restaurant.

I believe that's correct - I can recommend the character breakfast at Ohana's.
