Alternative Android app for DL?

I'm going to DL in less than 2 weeks and just bought a new Android phone (partly to get the Disney Mobile Magic app.) Of course, I tried to load it and it isn't compatible with Android 4.0.x Ice Cream Sandwich yet. I doubt they will have it updated in time for our trip. Any alternatives people have found as helpful?

The Disney Mobile Magic app should run on ICS. I have a Motorola Droid RAZR running Android 4.0.4 ICS with the Disney Parks Mobile Magic app version 3.0.0 running with no problems.

Try rebooting your phone (power off/power on), then retry running the app. If that fails, try uninstalling the app, reboot, then reinstall the app from the Google Play store.

Hope this works for your new phone.

if it was only that easy. but since you mentioned this, I will explain.
Your Razr phone was released with GB and then upgraded to ICS. The SGIII and the Galaxy Nexus were both released with ICS and now can run JB. There is a setting in the play store that can limit which phones can install what. Android or google as 4 different versions of OS. So there has to be a way to control something like this to ensure apps run correctly.
Now if this app was really unable to run in ICS when you received the OTA for ICS. The App would have stopped working.
Our OP has received an email with instructions on how to install the app. As a owner of an Rooted Nexus I pulled the apk off my phone and am willing to email it to whoever wants it. Hopefully with the Razr now running ICS and running the Mobile app with no problems, the developer will finally wake up and set it so everyone can use the app. Until then if someone needs the app, PM with your email that has been used for your phone.

I have Galaxy Nexus and the app doesn't work on my phone either and I'm running ICS. While it would be nice to have an "official" disney app, I've spent a lot of time with a rooted phone and now I'm just too lazy to tinker lol.

That said, I have MouseWait, DLR Lines, and DISboards (of course!). I tend to cross reference between MW and DLRLines while in the park. Sometimes MouseWait doesn't get updated for a while.

You dont need to be rooted to run the app. Any old Nexus or SGIII can run it. If you would like the "Official" app let me know. The only "UN" official thing is it wont update if they should do an update. The app is not linked to the market.

Oh right bc you have the APK. I just meant to agree that it doesnt run through Google Play.

I have Mouse Wait, I find it better than Mobile Magic.

I agree with the rest. I use MouseWait and Lines. I also have Disney Magic app, but actually only tend to use it for FP return times. It's not always best for line length, which seems crazy because it's supposedly linked to the computer system, but I will usually see a ride closure on MouseWait or Lines LONG before, if ever, it's posted on the official Disney app.

If you can't download the app from the official site, you can usually find it on the internet and download it through your computer to your phone. You'll just need to set your phone to accept applications from "unknown sources".

Is Walkee only for iPhones? That's what I use. I keep googling to check maybe check your app store for it. I love it! You can have an whole day at the park planned.

Daddee, this is a very good explanation of how the Google Play app store works with the different Android OS versions and phones or tablets. The OP didn't say what new phone he had (could have been a RAZR Maxx), only that his phone was running ICS 4.0.x, and that the Disney Mobile Magic app didn't work for him.

Unfortunately, this is par for the Android platform. I remember back when I had the the original Droid, how frustrating the Android market could be, knowing I should be able to run an app but not allowed to download it, even though I had rooted and over-clocked my phone. Luckily, we now have many non-root utilities that allow us to back off any app and create an apk file that can be installed on another Android phone (except those few marked "protected".) Thanks Daddee for making the Disney apk available for him.

As other posters have suggested, there are other apps that compliment or work better than the Disney Mobile Magic app. I personally use Mousewait and Lines to supplement the Disney app.

My first choice is of course Disney Mobile Magic, but my back up is Mousewait.

Me too. Mobile Magic is feature rich and runs in real time. Mousewait has features that don't help you in the park, and depends on user input which is worse when APs are blocked out and crowds are low.
