I'm planning a last minute trip (as usual) and we haven't been since things changed regarding access for special needs. i have not kept up to date with the changes. I'm not worried about me (mobility impaired) but I have 2 special needs kids who are used to Alternate Waiting Areas. Can someone update me (or PM me) on how that is being handled these days?

Thank you...

You might want to check out the sticky thread near the top of this forum -- WDW Disability Access Service Card. The first post has all the details of the new program (no need to read the full thread). For your mobility needs, you will not qualify for the DAS card. Depending on your children's needs, they may. You should be prepared to discuss their needs specifically related to waiting in lines, and not their diagnoses.

Enjoy your vacation!

As lanejudy mentioned, checking out the first post of the DAS thread stuck near the top of this board will help answer your questions.

But, the short answer - guests using DAS (Disability Access Service) are given a Return Time for about 10 minutes less than the current attraction wait time in the standby (regular) line.
During that time, they can wait in a place of their choosing, get something to eat, use the bathroom, etc.
After the Return Time, they come back to the Fastpass line for access to the attraction.

Thank you both. I wasn't even sure what the new program was called. I'll go peruse the sticky. Very much appreciated.
