We are driving from Texas and we leave in the morning. We have ressies at a hotel in Tallahasse tomorrow night. I checked the FL DOT website this morning and it says that I-10 is closed from US 90 to I-75 and to seek an alternate route. Does anyone know what the alternate route would be??

I don't know the answer to your question, but do you have a Garmin? I got one for me & my son's trip to San Antonio/Sea World one year (I hate road trips) & it really saved us big time. There was a major accident on a major highway (I can't remember the name of the highway) & the Garmin just recalculates & locates a different route for you. It really helped me because I am the type of person that can get lost going to the grocery store !!!:rotfl:

Do you have a smart phone? Most of those come with a GPS feature as well and can give alternate routes...sorry I couldn't be of more help. Safe travels!

Thanks for the responses!! We don't have a Garmin but we do have iPhones. Looks like we might just tour northern Alabama and take I-20 to Montogomery and head south. I just wonder how many of the other roads in Tallahassee are closed - our hotel is south of I-10. I told DH to call and ask the hotel how things are around there. And then if I-10 is still closed on Friday morning I guess we will head north again and visit Georgia for the first time. Oh well, we will find a way - it's Disney or bust!!!

What part of Texas are you coming from?

I used Mapquest, and plotted a route from Dallas to Orlando via Albany, GA. That way, you'll avoid I-10 completely (although you'll have to cancel your hotel reservations...you could make reservations in Albany or Valdosta though).

Adds a little over an hour to your trip, and it actually shaves off a few miles (not all of the trip is interstate).
