Alternate Locations.....

I am currently penciled in for The WP in February 2011. We are having 2nd thoughts after seeing some beautiful photos from Epcot World Showcase Ceremonies. We wanted to have a Parisian Ratatouille themed wedding anyway (I know it's weird, but we are both completely in love with Remy), and doing it at the France pavillion in Epcot would make for a beautiful ceremony and fit in perfectly with our theme!

My only concern (especially having lived in Central Florida through this year's crazy and unpredictible weather) is both the comfort of my guests (My 80 year old grandmother get's cold when it is 65 degrees out) and the thought of having to move my ceremony to an "alternate location" at the last minute because of weather.

Does anybody have any experience with what these "alternate locations" are? Are they still worthy of the fairy tale wedding experience? I am so worried about paying all this money for photography to have pictures of a ceremony in an empty ballroom somewhere.

I am new to this, and I am amazed by the wealth of knowledge and helpfulness of all the Disney Brides out there......must be all the pixie dust!

Thanks again.

Melanie

The in park ceremonies can only take place before the park opens in the morning and getting ready that early in the morning and having all my guests be ready was not for me. It does make for a lovely ceremony and if the early time does not bother you then I would look into it.

Having the ceremony in the morning, especially in the summer, reduces the risk of the afternoon thunder storms ruining your wedding.

You could also stick to the WP but opt for a "French" reception in Epcot and also have a Disney photoshoot in Epcot.

We are doing exactly what Brit Jude recommended. Our ceremony is at the Wedding pavilion and our reception is at the Bistro de Paris. Everybody will be indoors for most of the events (it was a concern of ours because there will be some older guests that wouldn't "appreciate" the heat). We are having a Beauty and the beast themed wedding so went for France to make it a more subtle beauty and the beast.

If you have any questions, feel free to pm me.

Our ceremony was in November 10, 2008 in Epcot in Italy. The weather that day was perfect. Some of our guests had either a light shawl or a jacket with them. Yes, it is early in the morning, but we felt so perfect for what we wanted. Epcot is my DH's favorite park and the location of Italy - right on the water - was just what we wanted.

The sky was an amazing color blue that morning.

France is just beautiful also and I believe there was a bride on here that had her wedding there. Can't remember at the moment.

When we signed our contract, we had put in our contract, that our alternate location be The American Rotunda. Figmentfan had her wedding there and this is a beautiful location also.
