Taking the 81-77 - 26 route this July and would like to book a hotel for an overnight stay. Wondering where would be a good place to stop?

There is a ton of info on the 95 route (exit guide) but I'm having trouble finding info on the 81 south route.

Anyone have any suggestions? (We are coming from central Mass.)

Thanks so much!

Hi. We're doing the same thing and we're planning on stopping in Orangeburg SC. I think that may be too far for you - it will be about 10-11 hours for us from PA.

Maybe you could look at Charlotte. That's where 81 and 77 meet. Mapquest your town to Charlotte and see the time/hours it would take and see if that works for you. There's a TON of hotels there.

PP: 81 and 77 meet 30 miles in VA above the NC line. Charlotte is roughly NC mile markers 1 - 13. The NC/VA line is mile marker 104 on 77N, then another 30 miles to the 81/77 point. That junction of 81 and 77 is over 100 miles above Charlotte.
(you may be confusing the 85/77 intersection, which is at Charlotte, exit 13 on 77 South.)

OP: The best info I can offer is that from Statesville, NC to Fall River, MA is @ 790 miles. From Statesville, NC to WDW is about 580 miles.
Statesville is about 38 miles North of Charlotte.

Now that is rough mileage from Fall River, MA to WDW. If you need more specific mileage info on the NC to WDW part taking 77-26-95-4 route, just PM me. On your drive, I think you could stop anywhere between Roanoke, VA and Rock Hill, SC. Charlotte does have tons of hotels, but traffic is not good during rush hours on weekdays. Rock Hill is just over the NC/SC line. From there to WDW is 530 miles. It's past Charlotte, so traffic should be much less of a problem when you get ready to leave the next day. To me, it would be worth another 15 miles to get clear of Charlotte to start off the next day.

We stop at Columbia,SC, we don't start until late afternoon, so there still is a long drive from there on, we have stayed in Orangeburg as well.

i dont know how far you wanna stay away but i live in winchester, va right off I-81 (Winchester Exits 317-307). From Exit 307 (last winchester exit) it takes exactly 13-14 hours to orlando. There are a ton of hotels and resturants in the area to eat and stay. I am extremely familiar with I-81 all the way to the NC line so if you have any questions please feel free to ask me. Now here are some other points, i dont know where your coming from but winchester is 8 miles into va after. If you wanna go further you can get to Charlotte in 6 hours from here so that is another place to stay if you wanna be closer but that gives you an estimate in how far you are from certain areas.
