Altered Paper Clip Swap - *CLOSED*

i have to confess-i didn't help vickiv, so even though it says my name on the card it wasn't me. all credit goes to her :)

Those are all SO CUTE! I can't wait to get them. BTW, sorry that my first group was identical. I didn't know if it would be OK to change them so I just made them the same. Sorry if they are boring.

Shauna - they are super cute! I have a little princess, so they will come in quite handy! :)

All of the clips look so neat. We did an altered paperclip in one of my classes at CKC but it was not nearly as elaborate as ours look.

Thanks! I was hoping they would work for some princess pages!

BTW, Downrivermama, I LOVE the panda and tiger clips. They are going to look fabulous with my San Diego Zoo pages!

The results of this swap are very nice. Way to go, ladies!
I've never done these before and was afraid to give this swap a go.

I have a couple of questions...

rlovew, Is that fun fur? How did you get it to stay on?

downrivermama, Did you use buttons with shanks on them? If so, did you just thread them on? If not, what did you use?

All, Any tips or tricks on what worked well for you?

I'd like to give the paper clip thing a try. I just need a few how-tos.
Thanks so much.

It is fun fur. I wrapped and wrapped it around and then tied it on the top the knot in the yarn is hidden behind the flower.

Rebecca,
What am I doing wrong with my fun fur paper clip? Do I need to start in a certain place? Do I tie it onto the paper clip when I start? I thought it would all become clear when I started, but I'm still having trouble figuring it out. Forgive me for being a bit dense on this one. I really like the look of your clips, and I'm trying to get it right. Thanks for all your help.

I started by hooking a piece of it into the edge of the clip (where you can slide it onthe outside edge. I kept wrapping it around and pushing that section around as I got wraps done until it got to the top (so the paperclip was wrapped from the top all the way around to where the side has the short end. Then I wrapped from that section up around the clip until I reached the top. When I had both of them at the top I tied them together and used a glue dot to attach the flower to the fun furin the top area of the paperclip. Then I used another glue dot to attach the button on top of the flower. The spot I started wrapping at is the spot you would slide anything onto the clip from the outside at . I hope this makes sense as it is very hard to explain without having terms for the paperclip parts.

I don't know the proper terminology either. I skipped class the day they covered paper clip anatomy.

Thanks for all your help. I'll master this paper clip wrapping yet.

I knew I should of joined both groups! I just love those Mickey and Minnie heads, missesDisney! The apples and baskets would be great for my apple picking pages, the flip flops for my beach pages..... oh well, maybe I will need to create some more clips myself. This was a fun swap! You ladies have inspired me!

All packages except those waiting for postage went out this morning ~ please let me know when they arrive. Also, several of you got change, if you did it is taped to the outside of your baggie.

ugh, I sealed up the priority envelope before I got the postage... :rolleyes1 will snailmail it! ps-they didn't have the 4.60 stamps, so they gave me 8 million stamps that add up to 4.60. :rotfl2:

I got them today! I'll send your package out tomorrow morning.

Mine arrived today (marlynnp: we so should have coordinated that better!!). Awesome! I can't wait to use them! :) Debbie: love the frame idea!!

Mine came today too - they are awesome - I'm heading to the craft room (read junk room with a table and craft stuff) to see what I can use tonight!

Thanks everyone!

I did use shank buttons. I got them at Mikes and used some light weight wire that you find in the floral section. I could get the buttons on fairly tigh so they wouldn't move, but didn't think about how to get the yarn thru after I had wired the button on! So I ended up putting the yarn on first after threading the button on the clip and than wired on the button. It was fun after I figured out a technique!

I opened them up and I just have to say these are amzing. It is unbelieveable how different they are.

Rebecca

Got mine today- everything looks great. Thanks for hosting!
