I have an ADR for Hollywood & Vine, but I haven't heard anything really positive about it. We want somewhere to eat before seeing Fantasmic? Does anyone have any alternative ideas for our first night?

Are you booked with the Fantasmic package at H&V? It's a nice convenience.

We had dinner there last year under the package and enjoyed our meal there. Nothing to write home about, but a good meal. There was another recent thread where many people made positive comments about the meal.

I did not eat anywhere else in MGM last summer so I can't suggest another place there. If you're set against H&V, consider eating before coming to MGM if you aren't spending the day there.

The only other two choices for Fantasmic are Mama Melrose and Brown Derby (which is two table service credits if you are on free dining). We have done Mama Melrose the last three trips for Fantasmic and have always enjoyed our meal--good service, good food (not four star...but good food) (there are also many others on here who do not like Mama Melrose). My DH and I did not enjoy Brown Derby when we went five years ago (our meat was terrible and he did not like the grapefruit cake--I wouldn't even taste it). We thought of giving it another try as they could have had an off night, but we just can't see using two table service credits for it). As for H&V, it is one of two restaurants at Disney that we refuse to ever step foot in again (the other being Boatwright's for dinner at the POR).
