Hello. I posted this on the budget board but didn't get any response.

I thought years ago I read on this board about people buying prepared meals while at WDW. I think they got them delivered to their condo/house?

We're staying offsite next spring. What I have come to like is going out to eat every night while on vacation. We were on the dining plan once at WDW and I must admit, I loved being waited on.

Ofcourse, we can't afford to do this time, and even eating counter service gets to be expensive for what you get.

Also, I'm a low carber, so it's meat and veggies for me with some whole grains. Those places at WDW with all the fries, rice, bread....they just won't cut it for me. Ofcourse I still make carbs for my family (try for whole grains).

Anyone remember what some of those places were? Or maybe you've gotten some meals at Publix? Does Publix make an Easter Dinner? Our local store does that for all of the holidays.

I know of all of the convenience meals like frozen mac and cheese. I'll still use those for my family. But I was trying for something nicer.

I'd like some ideas also. Up here in Canada, most grocery stores offer already cooked whole chickens. I'm hoping i can find something like this at nearby grocers too, it would make it easy to feed seven of us.

Publix has everything you want.

they will put a meal together for you - they have a deli - their fried chicken is to die for.... oh it is good - not for a diet - but heck you cares it is wonderful!!!

so you can definitely do it. Now they won't delivery here - but maybe there.

that say they are fairly common - so you aren't too far from one.

besides sometimes like to cook when I don't have too....

That sounds great!

I'm sure they will have rotisserie chickens. I'm going to use this to make a casserole that I like. I'm only going to cook once or twice for 9 nights.

the fried chicken is a good idea also.

Do they have sides like mashed potatoes or anything?

I just found this website - http://www.vacationmealstogo.com/preassembled.html

This is from the website:

"Every month our menu changes, please order these meals in the month that you are arriving for vacation.

These meals are prepared in a professional kitchen and are delivered to you frozen. All you have to do is heat them according to the instructions on the package. You will need access to a kitchen with a stove and oven to prepare these meals. To make these a complete meal, you can choose side dishes (salad, instant potatoes, vegetables) from the grocery section of our website. Please only order these if you are staying in a condo or timeshare as the meals arrive uncooked.

Our meals come in 2 portion sizes - full and half. A full portion feeds 6 and a half portion feeds 3 (or 2 adults and 2 kids). The meal portions are GENEROUS.

If you have ANY food allergies, you must let us know so that we can omit the ingredient in the recipe. Even if you have a possibility of being allergic to something, let us know. We are NOT responsible for the addition of any ingredients which might trigger a reaction if we are not informed."

Is anyone familiar with this company?

In addition to meal delivery, they also deliver groceries!

Answering the question about holiday meals, at Publix you can order them through the deli. I have done it over the phone from home, and also in person once in FL.

Do they have sides like mashed potatoes or anything?

yes.

here is their website
http://www.publix.com/food/Home.do

the grocery store here changes its sides. but not sure about the ones in Orlando - they seem to have the same stuff longer. (they don't do fancy in Orlando - the ones here well if you like exotic you will love it here - but if you like plain stuff - forget)
