Already paid with credit card....pay with gift card instead?

I reserved a dessert party with my credit card (required to pay in full).

Today I plan on buying several thousand dollars in discounted Disney giftcards to pay for our dining plan and MVMCP, etc. I planned on just cancelling my existing dessert party and repurchasing with said gift cards. However, the party is now sold out.

Will Disney refund my credit card and apply payment by gift card if I call?

As recently as last fall, I did this exact same thing with both a dessert party and a hotel reservation. Disney refunded back to my CC and took the GC no problem.
