I have spoken to my Dr..
My Family Dr is not getting it..neither is his family
His Partner and his family (DD's good friends with his Daughter) isn't either
but...other friends who are Dr's are getting it?!?!?! Hence I am all over the place!!!!!!

The shot? H1N1? If so, keep in mind that the 'shot' is really the same as every other year's, as well as this year's, seasonal shot, just a different strain of flu. This year's seasonal chemical makeup is the same as last year's, just a different flu strain. H1N1 is similar, the same. If you can get it, get it. I will be getting mine as soon as it is available to me. Already had the seasonal back in August.

My kids have asthma and I have some respiratory "issues". All of our doctors are recommending that the kids and I have the H1N1 shots.

In fact, both kids had their first H1N1 shots (they have to have 2 due to their ages) this last week. They have had no issues after the fact. In our area, my kids had the first shots available (which were out within 24 hours). I explained to both kids how lucky they are to be able to get the shots because now they shouldn't be able to get H1N1.

I agree with PPs. Listen to the advice of your doctor(s) and ignore the random stuff on the 'net. If you Dr. says that you probably don't NEED the shot, you probably don't need it. If he/she says, "Definitely get it!" then you should listen to the advice.

Also, don't forget that the target groups for the H1N1 vaccine are not the same as for the seasonal vaccine. Older adults are not in the target group for H1N1 - so if someone is choosing not to get it, it might be because they are not in the target group, not because they fear the vaccine.

I noticed you are from Canada. I do remember reading that your H1N1 vaccine IS made differently than the one in the US. Some Canadian versions contain adjuvants from what I read and the target groups are different. Not sure what other differences your vaccine has.

I don't listen to these scare videos nor emails though. My kids got the US H1N1 vaccine and have had no trouble.

My daughter has asthma and her Dr was still not recommending the shot- she said she wouldn't even give it to her own kids. It all worked out anyway--shots not available around here yet anyway and I had H1N1 a week and a half ago and my daughter was diagnosed with it on Thursday and is doing just fine today...had daily Dr visits and plenty of neb treatments to keep the lungs clear..now its done and over with and we don't have to worry about weather to get the shot or not anymore!

I just wasted 6 minutes of my life listening to a lunatic. Talk to your doctor, ask him/her if he thinks H1N1 has been developed by the "elite" to diminish our population and if he thinks the vaccines are just a global experiment or test. Ask him if he thinks it is safe or not and then base your judgement on his recommendation, not a loony bird on youtube.

Im having no luck getting H1N1 for my kids, but it is no different that the "flu shot" every year. Next year this strain (h1n1) will be included in the "flu shot" It just made its arrival too late to make it into the regular shots this year. If we could find the shots, we'd be getting them too.

I stopped listening the second she started babbling on about the "elite' trying to reduce the world population. No, that's not true, I went back and listened again to make sure I heard right, I just could not believe my ears. The woman is barking mad.

I understand some people are worried about vaccinations. That's all fine, I know there are a lot of opinions and information and I respect that. But I hope nobody bases their opinion on that fruit loop.

Didn't watch the video but was interested to hear that other peds were saying not to get it. My ped said the same thing to me, and I trust her implicitly. From what I've read the cases of H1N1 have already peaked in our area, so maybe it's not as necessary to get the shot now.
