and I still need a few things...a few more vouchers and maybe 2 more tickets. Can I rejoin in my husband's name or is that really being kind of cheesy? I should have ordered everything I needed first, but I didn't want 30 days to go by and not cancel. I can't really use their other services as we don't use any of those type stores. I live too far away from Target (2 hrs.) . What should I do?

Why don't you just pay for a month? The purpose of a free trial is so you can see if you like a program. Not really intended for people who already know they don't want to pay for the program but want to use it for free.

If you're looking to scheme have a friend or relative join (with a different address).

I'm sorry if it sounded as if I am trying to scheme. I just joined initially as the passes sounded like a good deal from the posts I had read. Once I logged onto their site, I realized very quickly that the businesses included in their membership were those that we do not frequent. I considered keeping the membership for at least one month, but couldn't rationalize it out in paying for something we would not be using again. Actually, I did not even send in the $10 rebate that was offered, as I felt that would be taking advantage. I'm sure I will get some kind of backlash for this, but as I said before, I did not realize exactly what Hotwire offered in its membership deal. I am sure they made some money off of me as I ordered about $1500 worth of tickets. I just found out that I needed a couple of more things. It's just my bad luck that I cancelled too soon. As a rule in my life, I do not look to "scheme" anyone out of anything. I guess I will just have to look for vouchers elsewhere.

If you know your membership number, you may be able to reinstate your account. They will not let you re-join and enjoy another free 30-day trial period so soon after quitting the program. So, you will have to pay the $7.95 monthly fee if you decide to reinstate your account. Chances are, they will be able to tell by your address that your household already had an account and they will not allow your DH to join.

Another possibility is to join Connections or Simple Escapes thru one of the rewards programs. I believe that you would also get a free 30-day trial period from them. They pretty much offer the same vouchers and tickets that Hotwire does.

Thanks for the response. I think I have decided to order from AAA or maybe ticketmania for the tickets. It may be just as cheap if I pay the $8 for monthly fee as I really would like some movie tickets. Our AAA office sells them but they are about $3 apiece more. I just know we won't use any of the other services, and I guess I could pay the $8 and send in my rebate form if they let me and I still would be saving.

sweet maxine,

For the record, it didn't sound like you were "scheming" to me. I also cancelled my Hotwire membership because the WDW vouchers were all that I was going to use (I thought Hotwire participated with Home Depot when I joined), and later wished I had ordered a few more vouchers. I also thought about having my husband join, but then plans changed and we didn't need extra vouchers.

Thanks for the reply, Letsbgoofy. It's nice to know someone found themselves in a similar situation, and I'm not the "lone stranger" as my husband calls it. My family will be going in June too, as we had to change our May plans. I also noticed your tag about the Mickey waffle maker and thought that was a hoot! I just ordered one from Amazon the other day, and will be turning out loads of Mickey waffles during our stay at the FW cabins! It's our cheap alternative to the character breakfast. Hope you have a nice trip!

The magnolias are in bloom here now, and they smell just heavenly!!

I just pay the monthly fee in the long run it works for me. I buy so many vouchers a month to plan for the next trip. I also purchase movie tickets and I will purchase my hoppers threw them. I don't use them for Universal as I purchase a annual pass and usally Universal has better deals on tickets. I purchased an Annual pass from Universal and broke the payments over 12 months which is 15.00 or so. But it is worth what I save on a room to stay on Universal Property. Disney usually offers discounts to everyone that are fair. Universal is a little different. The ent-book discount wan't that great this year. Just go back 2 weeks ago from POFQ and ae planning a 10 day trip for March 2005.

I certainly wouldn't worry about being scheming considering they operate on the assumption that people will sign up and forget to ever cancel. I know people do use them and get good deals, but, like gym memberships, they still collect money from people who aren't using them. All's fair.

I spoke to someone in customer relations this morning, and I was told that right now I could not reinstate my account. I offered to pay the $8 monthly fee, but was told to try the Hotwire webite and start over or go to Deal Pass. I tried going through the sign-up window again, and was given a message that it was not accepted at this time. I am sure it must be the recent cancellation, as I was accepted in a couple of minutes the first try with no problem.

I decided to give up at the time, and not pursue it any further. I don't want to get involved with another company as Hotwire was the only company that seemed to have good feedback on these boards from customers. I have learned my lesson, and next time I will just try to hold off a few days before I do something rash. I didn't see any problem with reinstating the membership for the $8 monthly fee, but I guess they did.

I found a good deal on tickets at Wal Mart in Kissimmee per these boards for the 5/4 PHP tickets.

I don't want anyone to get the impression I am dissatisfied with Hotwire. Quite the opposite. They shipped my order out via AIRBORNE Express very promptly. I think if you realize the savings they offer for tickets, vouchers, and movie tickets, you will do well by them. I just can't think of anything else I might use the membership for.

sweet maxine,

I used simple escapes and they were great. I canceled my membership after 2 months. I did not mind paying for one month because I got 2 $25 gift certificates for joining. They sent my vouchers via air also.

When I canceled, I told the lady that I would use them when I decide to join again because they were so great. I just could not get my membership fee worth each month with 4 young children. If we went out more...yes!
