DD and I are going down in Feb 04. I have a wonderful friend who leves 1 hr away. She is planning to come over for 1 day and join us for some relaxation in the DTD area. What are the logistics involved with her coming to the resort to pick us up/spend time with us. Since my DD and I will have resort IDs, will she be able to hop Transpo with us or will we have to drive to DTD instead. Don't flame me, I am VERY new to the staying on-site WDW regulations. As a FL native I never stayed onsite before.

Thanks,
Deedee

When she gets to the gate at the resort, just have her tell the guard she is coming to visit you. He will give a three hour parking permit. Because of the three hour parking permit, you would probably be best off driving to DTD.

Having done this for my dad here is my suggestion on parking. I did not have a car, but asked for a parking pass at check in. I gave it to my Dad who came to get me for dinner several times.

Now before anyone starts screaming! My Dad would never use the pass to go to the parks and skip paying for parking. He has NEVER been to the parks and has no desire to go. This just made life easier for both him and the security guard.

You're staying in the resorts and Dad comes to visit one day. I can't see anything wrong with y'all riding to the MK in Dad's car and parking for free compared with y'all riding the bus together (or if he came on the Mears shuttle and you rented a car, his riding with you).

Can you convince Dad to buy an admission ticket and go in for the first time in his life? He might turn into a frequent guest.

(Dad should not take the parking pass and go off without you, unless he adds himself as a guest and pays the extra person room fee if applicable.)

Seashore,
Some things just are not worth fighting for.

The worst part is his wife's family goes several times a year. She has a newphew that works there who gets his parents great deals. (When we did the parking thing he was living in Orlando. SInce his marriage he lives in Sebring.)

We have had guest visit us several times and we have visited friends at other resorts many times - there was never an issue with parking the car when visiting.

As long as your friend has a multi-day pass to the parks - they are entitled to use WDW transportation.

Have her name added to the reservation,it want cost anymore and then if she wants to stay the night or visit a couple of days then she will have the parking pass and a room key.

Adding an adult to a reservation that already has two adults on it WILL cost more, unless it's a DVC Member staying on points. The additional adult fee ranges from $15-25 per night, depending on the resort.

So if it's just you and DD, that idea will work well.

I think that luvindisneyworld was under the impression that the OP only had 1 adult in the room since she said "DD and I" are going down...
