Just a few more days before I head to the world and escape the winter wonderland here in NH.
Though I am not staying at the Poly :sad1: I am staying at BLT at the contemporary (thanks to a generous friend who us using her DVC points!) which is just close enough to the Poly that we will be making a trip over to have a fruity drink on the beach and watch wishes!
I'm running in the Princess half (my first 1/2!) so wish me luck!!

You will still have a blast and good luck in the Princess half!! I am going to run my first 1/2 in January at Disney and am super excited.. you'll have to come back and tell us how the run went! :thumbsup2

I'm waiting for SW too. Shouldn't they have released dates past Aug. 13 by now?

Breezys Mom- Love your pics of paradise! :lovestruc

I know it's somewhere on their site but you can also call SW they will tell you the approximate date that the next dates will open up and they will tell you through what date you can book.

I went to the website...it's under number 19 in the frequently asked questions section. The site says they will open up flights through october on MARCH 20th!!!......I don't know if I can wait that long:rolleyes:

Thank you & ouch to #4. Are you better off to take a bus from the TTC? Does the TTC go to Downtown Disney?

There's no bus from the TTC to DTD. As far as I know -- someone please correct me if I am wrong.

We usually end up avoiding DTD because of the bus situation, and if we have to go there we usually take a taxi.

One would think that there would be excellent free transportation to DTD since all people do there is spend $$$, but there really isn't. BTW, I find that ALL the deluxe resorts have the same bad bus service to DTD, not just the Poly.:confused3

We've stayed at Deluxe's the last three years & never really had any bad bus service anywhere. The ride to DTD as always been longer than to the parks but I think this is because it's farther away. I guess we've just gotten lucky.

Maybe we'll hop to another resort & take the bus from there. We normally like to go the day before we leave.

I think it's a combination of the distance, the fact that the Poly shares the bus with other resorts, and the fact that more people go to the parks (so there are more busses). We waited at DTD for what seemed like forever (but was at least a half-an-hour) for a very long and jerky bus ride back to the Poly. We won't do that one again.;)

We found the long trek to DTD not worth it. The place seemed kind of dead and lifeless and there wasn't really anything to purchase there that couldn't be bought in the parks or the resorts. I don't think we will bother going again (unless TPTB do something to revitalize the area).

Re. DTD, the first time DD and I went we were staying at the GF and took the bus. It took something like 48 minutes until we arrived at our stop. We didn't return for years  Nowadays we drive down and so if we go, it's in our own wheels :drive:

We went this summer to visit the Diana exhibit and there really is some good shopping and dining at DTD :thumbsup2

Hey Guys.. we just booked for Poly in October! I am so excited. Just wondering what garden view rooms are the best at Poly? Are there any you would recommend?

Our kids will be 3, 7 and 9.. so I am thinking it might be nice to be near transportation.

thanks!!

We just booked the Poly for June 6th - 11th to celebrate DD's 16th birthday!!! :cool1::banana::woohoo::yay::dance3:

Our only other stay at the Poly was DD's 13th birthday when we did the land/sea vacation (which was amazing - best vacation ever!!). We haven't been back to Disney since... I can't wait!!!

That will hopefully tide you over as I am leaving town today for a long weekend and leaving my laptop home :scared1: I have to go find some tropical fun at an indoor water park. Two Mom's and six kiddos. I am hoping I will find a bartender that I can teach how to make a Lapu Lapu

Welcome to all the new Poly lovers, bon voyage to all those going and I can't wait to hear from those who are there now. :yay:

Those are our exact dates as well! I will be celebrating my birthday and we will be having a belated honeymoon. It's been a long wait but my ticker has been counting down since October. :surfweb:

There are 4-5 methods of transportation available at the Poly, depending on your definition.
1. The monorail located at the GCH.
2. The boat to the MK located by the volcano pool.
3. The bus system located near Neverland Club.
4 - 5. The TTC has the direct monorail to EPCOT and the ferry which can also take you to the MK.

My suggestion with three kids is to stay at least on the side containing the majority of these items (East). We have stayed in Samoa and Tokelau and enjoyed both. However, we as a family preferred Samoa because of it's location right next to the Volcano Pool. We don't spend a lot of time in our room besides sleeping and getting ready, so a view was not our priority. We were in room 1610 so we were the end room, 1st floor, closest to Bay Lake. The noise was never noticable until the water pageant started and we could hear it as we were drifting off to sleep.

Now as for transportation - it was perfect for 1 -3, and a little bit of a walk to 4-5 but the scenery made it pass by quickly (sore feet, not so much). We did enjoy Tokelau and that would bring you closer to 4-5. The ferry became important when the monorail and boat by the Volcano Pool both went down one day during our trip and this was our way to the MK that day.

Good Luck! I don't think any decision could be wrong.

Woo hoo!! I sure hope we picked "good" dates .. last time we went the last week of May and the weather and crowds were perfect. :cloud9: This year, with all of the snow, schools are letting out way later. We'll also be celebrating our anniversary (DD was born on our 3rd anniversary - well planned on her part, lol!). I worked at Disney WAY back in 88-89 (wow.. that makes me feel old) and I remember the crowds jumping way up around June. But, no matter what, we're going to have a fabulous time. :thumbsup2

I just can't wait!!! :goodvibes
