The pics and all the great things everybody says I don't know how I am going to make it 20 more days to our family of four 1st visit EVER to Disney World. We check in at the Poly on 2/24!!!!

I need coping strategies until then

:welcome: my neighbor to the north!

Time will fly and before you know it you will be in paradise! There are two previous Poly threads that were shut down due to being too long. Do a search and check them out as well as this thread! Lots of information and great pictures!

Happy planning :wizard:

Boy, after a day like today our trip seems forever away! The kiddos at school have been really trying everyone's patience - come on, July!

Woo hoo! We decided to go with lagoon view club level for our trip in July!! :woohoo::yay::banana::dance3::cheer2::woohoo::yay::banana: We started out thinking we'd book a garden view room, then decided on garden view club level, and finally today decided to go with LVCL! :cool2::cool2::cool2:

:thumbsup2How cool is that!!!
We cant wait for Nov. and back to the Poly. Already planning of course.:rolleyes1

Thanks!!!! :sunny:

I wondered when it would be put out there. . .his birthday and our daughter's are back to back. He said he was retiring around their birthdays. It is a sad day for the Polynesian. Dick is definitely a major draw for the concierge level. He will be missed. . .

He will be very much missed. I feel fortunate to have gotten to speak with him during a few our trips. :)

We are currently at the Poly Club Level lagoon view, first floor. This is the view from our room and it isn't considered Theme Park view. I am so thrilled with this room, that I changed our bouncebacks from Garden view to Club Level Lagoon in both October and December 2010.

Excellent view! :thumbsup2

I'm so happy for Dick. :grouphug: You're so right Tess, he has been such as asset to the Polynesian. Selfishly, I'm sad we won't get to say aloha to him as we are staying gardenview this trip.

Fair winds and following seas, Chef Dick. :boat:

I think we're going to miss him in July as well. He will be missed!

What sorts of snacks, beverages and hot appetizers do they serve? We are planning another Poly stay and wondering if CL would be our cup of tea or an added expense we wouldnt make good use of....:surfweb:

Scroll down on the first page of this thread and there's a scanned image of a list of the offerings in the concierge lounge. It's a continental breakfast, snacks midday (fruit, cookies, chips and salsa, gummy sharks), some hot appetizer type foods, veggies with dip, cheese and crackers at "dinner" time, then desserts and cordials later in the evening. :)

That is a FABULOUS view!!!! Can I ask, what room # are you? Enjoy the rest of your trip-we were there last week & miss it!!!

The room number is 1501. First room off the concierge check in desk, next to elevator and ice machine and since I used a wheelchair this trip, it was great for us. We really didn't hear any noise from either the elevator or the ice machine.

Yay! Very excited to read your post (bummer that you're cancelling the summer trip though ...) Hoping you can make the dates work!

Sorry totally off topic. Just wanted to say that my daughter's name is Maia (same spelling and all:) I call her Maiapapaya and this is the first time I've ever seen it anywhere else....you must be a fabulous person:rotfl2:

Why yes, I am. But I'm not Maia :lmao: ... my daughter is! I started using Maiapapaya on another board years ago when she was a baby and it's always just stuck (though for my younger daughter's sake I probably should have changed it so that she doesn't think I'm playing favorites).

We're hoping to embark on our first stay at the Poly next Wednesday! We're in Maryland though and we're getting hit with a doozy of a storm today and tomorrow, and apparently there's a chance of more snow next week. I hope we can make our flight out of BWI on Wed. morning.

Has anyone been in the past few weeks? My 5 year old DD has been talking about all the swimming she is going to do and I'm wondering if its even warm enough to swim right now.

We've got a cool front moving through tonight. It is going from 80ish today to 60-something tomorrow. It's supposed to warm back up by mid-week though...

Oh hey stranger! :hippie: I guess I may run into you! Our TA put in a request for a comp upgrade for us but I hear it's pretty close to sold out for our time period.

Yup. Mid-week isnt bad, but full for V-Day!

Hopefully we'll run into each other!

We are just back and one day they forgot to turn on the heater at the quiet pool-so the kids went to the volcano pool instead. My husband said it was too cold for him-water is heated but kids don't seem to care!

We just got back from our Poly stay on Tuesday, and we are so thrilled with everything Poly!! We couldn't have picked a better place for our family to spend our first WDW vacation together. The room was nice, our "GV" room in Fiji (room 1302) was wonderful with a perfect view of the GF/beach/water. I couldn't have asked for a better room in this category! It was quiet, yet so close to the Grand Ceremony house and volcano pool. I could sit on the patio first thing in the morning and just enjoy my coffee in my PJ's and not worry about too many people seeing me. :rotfl:

Can't wait to go back!

And DH and I spoke about it, that if we could have this same room again, we would probably even pick it over a castle view room. IMO (and I'm sure I'll get flamed for this) the view isn't that spectacular. Yes, it's nice to see the castle from your room, but in all honesty, it is quite far away. That's just my opinion, though, and I'm stickin' to it :)

I can't argue with the great views from Fiji, but I just love the Tahiti views - from all directions.

I'm right there with you ... anxiously waiting for June 1! In the mean time I've done our itinerary and am planning the kids' new autograph books, thinking of maybe making them some t-shirts ... It's crazy how a WDW vacation takes on a life of it's own! :rotfl:

One of the Disney stores by my house is closing so I just got the girls a ton of Disney t-shirts for $2.50 each so that part of the vacation is set!!!!

Though many love the view of the castle and such but most of us would take any room as long as we were at the Poly.

I just got a pin, so I'm hoping maybe we can book a room for our trip this summer sometime over the weekend! :cheer2:

I'm about 99.9% sure we're staying at the Poly! Just can't decide what view, or CL or what yet! eeek!!!

 I just had to share that! I'm so excited!!!

We were at The Poly 1/20 - 1/26 and got a couple of swimming days in. The pool is heated. When we were there it was just warming up from that long cold spell. We picked the warmer afternoons to go for a swim.

We had a GV room in Tokelau, 3rd floor near beach. Loved that longhouse. It's one of the newer ones, so rooms are a tad larger, I noticed the hallways were wider too. It had a nice lobby area, and sitting area on the 3rd floor too.
Very centrally located to everything, and near the walking path to TTC.

That makes me feel a bit better! I've been debating switching resorts to get a pool I wouldn't freeze to death in so now I feel better about the Poly. :goodvibes
