Hi Everyone,

I love this thread!!

I am making dining reservations and I would really like to know if there is a big difference. Is the Spirit of Aloha show really worth 2 TS credits? I have read that the Aloha show is approx. 2 hrs. and there will be small children in our party and I'm also wondering if this is too long for the kids.

Thanks,
Kim

This is a tough one to answer. We waited until DD was older before we attended SOA. She was 8 at the time and we all LOVED it! That being said, I could see that kids in the toddler to 4-5 year old age group got restless and bored. It is 3 acts so there is a wait time in between and that seems to be when the little ones "lose" there interest. The kids are invited up on stage in the first act and the last act is the fire thrower which keeps everyone in awe :thumbsup2

We paid for it out of pocket but there was only 3 of us. The food was excellent and there is unlimited beer and wine as well. I probably would not use 2 TS credits myself.

Good luck with you decision. In the end I was glad we finally saw it as it was fun :)

My daughter is obsessed with the monorail, with a garden view room which longhouse should I request Rarotonga or Aotearoa?

Thanks

I'd suggest Rarotonga. :goodvibes Not only does that longhouse have a view of the monorail but the Poly bus stop is right in front.

We booked a night at the Poly - Feb. 18, 2010! I'm so excited!

The kids don't know, but I've booked airfare for Feb. vacation to see their great-granparents in southwest Florida. Since DS10 and DD6 both have birthdays that week, I thought I would surpise them with a night at the Poly, day at the MK and dining at their two fav. places: 'Ohana and Crystal Palace.

I wish it could be a week, but it should still be fun. We've never stayed at the Poly before, so I'm off to start reading through this thread...:surfweb:

Great photos! I can't wait. My countdown today-24 days :yay: I requested Tokelau 3rd floor. Having a balcony is important to me!
We've had dinners and breakfasts at Kona Cafe and always thought the resort was beautiful, so I am really excited to stay here.

Have many recieved free upgrades at check in here?

I'm still thinking of wether to do on line check in here as we're arriving by DME. Any thoughts on this? Our flight arrives at 3:45 pm. I've preferred doing check in when I arrived for our Aug trip , but re thinking this.

:confused3 anyone?

We have actually stayed in both of those longhouses...I preferred Rarotonga-I was a bit concerned when I found out our room was facing the parking lot but the CM assured me I'd be pleased...although we did face the parking lot-we never saw cars! The landscaping-was hilly & the trees/bushes were great. We sat on our patio (ground floor) & waved to people on the monorail. I would have to say besides our stay in the Hawaii building -this was my favorite one. Out the door to the GCH, laundry, buses & pool....actually all the longhouses are great!

Hello fellow Poly lovers!!!:wizard::cloud9:
Dare I say this early but............I cant wait to go back in 2010 for our Anni. Already planning. :rotfl:Ordered all the WDW books and Passporter.
Less then a year and I'm there. Yehaw!!!

I wouldn't count on an upgrade they are rare. I usually book the lowest category room I'd be happy with and if I want an upgrade I will ask at check-in "how much would it be to upgrade to a "category" room some times they will come back with a rate lower than what it would be on line or ahead of time sometimes not and then I choose if its worth it.

In my 24 trips to the World I have received 1 upgrade that I didn't ask for and I didn't even know about till I opened the door. I requested a Standard View at AK and got a Savannah View.

I'm also planning and looking forward to my trip in August 2010. I also wanted to say I love your siggie. Torchwood and Dexter are both amazing shows (I especially love Captain Jack).

I never ask to be upgraded, but have been lucky enough to have been 3 times, twice at WL, and once at AKL. So i was wondering. Thanks for your answer!
I will be happy with what i booked, but would be over the moon with an upgrade :)

Thanks for that information. I also have been upgraded, but would never ask. I was wondering if they would offer you a discounted rate if you offer to pay at check in, or still full price. Its good to know they may come back with the upgrade at a lower rate. :thumbsup2

You aren't too early. We have been planning our next trip for Dec 2010, since March 2009.

Here is the LIVE feed from the Poly thanks to tecDavidt. :worship::worship::worship:

This video feed was the highlight of our New Years last year! It is amazing to be able to see the fireworks from home since I am not fortunate enough to see them in person! I have actually had the feed on my laptop all day :rolleyes1

A big thanks to them for sharing their vacation with us! pixiedust:

Happy New Year to everyone! :cool1::dance3::banana::yay:

Very, very cool. Thanks tecDavidt and Breezysmom. Watching Wishes was great. Hoping the Electrical Water Pageant will be shown in a few minutes. I know I will be fast asleep before the NY fireworks!:rolleyes1

Sue M, we've stayed at the Polynesian over 30 times and have never, ever had an upgrade. My advice is to book what you want.

We checked in last NY day....I'm going to miss it tomorrow!

Happy New Years, Polynesian lovers!
