ahhh.. thanks for all these fabulous pictures! Breezysmom, I hope your DD is feeling better. My boys both had H1N1 so I know what a terror it can be..

We are staying for the first time at the poly in November 2010.. we are already booked for a LV but in talking to DH tonight I think we are going to go with GV.. I mean for $955 we could have just a great of time in a GV room.. PLUS we are going for a short 3 day trip in June for my son's birthday and that would pretty much cover that trip alone!!

SOOO, I was wondering if all you poly experts could tell me what your favorite garden view longhouse was..
thank you!!!

If you want to stay GV, but still be on the water, the marina side of Figi might be a good choice. It faces directly onto the marina. Depending on how high up you are you could see the lagoon, and CR. It is very close to the GCH and volcano pool as well.

I never actually stayed in Figi, we were in Tuvalu, had to walk past Figi to get anywhere. There is a brick walkway between edge of the the marina and the building (about 15 feet wide?). The patios on the first floor are raised up a few feet from that, with a border of shrubs that top a little retaining wall along the edge of the patios (hope that makes sense). The shrubs are high enough for privacy, but you could definitely see over them.

Breezysmom, thanks for all your wonderful pictures!:lovestruc We are going after Xmas with the whole family for 2wks and staying offsite. But,....we have booked the POLY for May 14,2010 for a wk,(40% pin code) and only taking a couple of kids. We haven't stayed there since 1998:eek: which was a few kids ago:rotfl2: Anyway, I am enjoying this thread greatly.
Thank you:worship:

Proof of pool hoppers!!! :rolleyes1

Good morning! How I wish we were all relaxing drinking our coffee chatting by the Poly pool right now! :grouphug:

Thank you for all the well wishes for Breezy. It has been a rough few days for her but she fianally woke up looking better but still has a high fever.:headache: So far breakfast has stayed down (the Tamiflu is making her sick). There was a possibility of a ER visit last night but we toughed it out and pushed fluids because even though I have worked in the hospital for 10+ years, there is no love for their ER. I have to call the doc in a few to decide if staying home is still OK or beg him to direct admit her to Pediatrics for IV fluids. Looking at her now I don't think we will need to! She is sitting up and we are watching the Boo to You Parade from our vacation videos! :cool1: Thank Goodness for these videos as they have been a great to chill out and watch together!

Also thanks for the AP info. I will check out that thread and work the numbers. I am sure that since we are planning 3 visits it might be well worth the money!!:thumbsup2

Finally, there is a thread going from a great girl name MickeyNicki who has been reporting live from the Poly. She is staying CL and has the best food porn and park pics around! A great diversion! She is a doll and is traveling with her hubby who sounds pretty fabulous too! Check it out HERE! If you long for the Poly, this thread is perfect!

I am loving your daily pictures. The ducks are just adorable. Finally, down to single digits. :yay:

Come to think of it. We always use dto get leis at the front desk upon check in. We didn't this time. I saw others walking around w/ them but they perhaps were coming from a function or luau?
Did we just get overlooked? Budget cuts?
I just thought of it as we tok out our mini Christmas tree we used in our room at the Poly 6 years ago and it still had the leis we got there in it that we used as a garland. :lovestruc

We were just there the last week of October and we got them at check in. There was also a huge pile of them over by the tv in the kids' section in the lobby. Maybe you checked in at a really busy time or they had run out behind the desk and no one had had a chance to grab more? :confused3

Bummer. Actually when we checked in, there wasn't a soul around besides us checking in and it was just 1pm. The CMs were just chatting casually when we got there :( Oh well. :( THANKS

I have found that this is one thing that is hit or miss at the Poly. It seems to me that they have a "welcoming staff" around at the 3pm check in time that passes out leis and cookies on a daily basis. We usually check in late afternoon/early evening so we have missed that Welcome.

On our first visit we did not get one but then again DD was sick so we just wanted to get to our room. We ended up getting one at a later time from the child activity area.

Our second visit I was bound and determined to get leis upon check in and then totally forgot about it until we got to the room. I headed back to the lobby and asked for some from the front desk :headache: We like to use them as decor in the room!

This last trip there was a CM that greeted our ME bus with Leis so we finally got one upon arrival! :cool1:

I wanted to add a bit about the AP's. Last March we upgraded to AP's with the 4/3 deal. Our plan was to return for a weekend trip at Halloween and also for our 2010 family vacation in March. Money wise it made sense. We were saving in the long run. We also had the chance to travel with my Dad in August so we had another chance to use our passes. In October we stayed at the Pop for $62 a night. Yes it is not the Poly but it was $62!!!! When the 40% off deluxe pin codes came out for January we opted to push up our family vacation and go to the Poly. I am considering renewing one of our AP's so we can take advantage of the room discount in 2011 as well.

14 days and we will be checking in. I ordered Lei's from a company in Hawaii that will FedEX them out to be delivered on our day of arrival so I will let you know how that works out. Its a surprise for DW we honeymooned in Hawaii so I thought she would get a kick out of them.

Yes I'm quoting myself, I forgot to give an update on this. When I checked they let me know I had a fedex box waiting for me the Lei's were beautiful and lasted all week hanging in our room and smelled wonderful.

We got 4 total we got two for the kids also

Single White Orchid and Rose (Pink) : 1 x $22.00 = $22.00
Single Strand Green and White Orchid Lei (NA) : 1 x $17.50 = $17.50
Single Strand Orchid Lei (NA) : 1 x $14.25 = $14.25
Ti Leaf and Orchid Lei (Purple) : 1 x $27.00 = $27.00

Total Cost: $80.75
Tax: $0.00
Shipping Cost: $30.22
Total Amount: $110.97

WDW florist wanted 35 dollars for carnation lei's so I saved money and had Orchid Lei's overnighted from Hawaii for less money.

For Polynesian Lovers who stayed at other resorts - Please tell me what you liked about the other resorts (not monorail) in comparison? Thank you!

We (DH, DW, DS4) might stay at BC, WL, CBR, or somewhere else for a late Spring 2010 or Dec. 2010 trip.... Want to do something different but worried about being disappointed since we loved the Poly so much for the theme, convenience to MK and monorail, and lots of restaurants. Our favorite parks are MK, AK, HS in that order. Epcot - we can do the rides/attractions in 1 day but would go back just for lunch/dinner. We loved MK fireworks, illuminations not so much. We get park hoppers. We liked returning to the resort for a break before dinner (most days).

Beach Club Resort - Stormalong Bay Pool seems nice plus Epcot restaurants and 2 signature restaurants (Flying Fish, Yacht Club). Seems like it would be a long ride on the bus to get to Magic Kingdom. But, if we came back to BC for a break after the parks, it's a quick walk to many restaurants for dinner.

Wilderness Lodge - I don't know why but nothing here really excites us - except the big tree I saw at Christmas time in the lobby. Was a challenge to get to Hoop-Dee-Doo and Mickey's Backyard BBQ when we came by bus. We would not do those shows on our next trip.

Caribbean Beach Resort - The Pirate themed rooms might be nice for our boy.

I've done 2 stays at Poly 3 at WL and my next stay is at BC.

I have to say staying at WL and Poly are my favorite experiences at WDW so far, and I'm always torn in choosing between the 2 and I love them for different reasons. Poly with its great atmosphere and being on the monorail for quick access to the parks. The WL for its themeing and being away from the hustle and bustle of the parks, and its not as spread out as the Poly is.
Getting to the Hoop de Doo or the MK by boat from WL is very easy and I never found the busses to be a big problem for the other parks.

It's funny how they seem to have no set policy for this and it seems so hit and miss - how you get the leis, if you actually get them. We arrived around 2:30. There was no "welcoming staff" (and no cookies either! :headache: ). It was the CM who did our check in that gave them to us. Once he was done with all the details he reached over the counter, put them over our heads and said "Aloha, welcome to the Polynesian" and then handed us enough for the rest of our party.

Well at least the CM checking you in did give you some.:thumbsup2 They usually have the Hula lessons around 3:30 most afternoons and that is when I have noticed the CMs sort of hanging around the entrance with the leis and so forth. I am really not sure if there is really any set routine.
