I'm so excited, I finally pinpointed where to stay on our next vacation! We stayed at the Poly this last September so wanted to maybe try something new. Every time I started to push the button for the GF or CR I would hear the Poly music in my head and remember how beautiful the resort is and how nice the rooms are. So we're back at the Poly for next September. There's no place like home.:yay:

Is turndown service just available at CL or can anyone request it? What is the price if anyone can do it? Do they put chocolates on the pillows?:cloud9:

Tess is correct. It is probably best if you call every day in the morning if you want it that day. Our first trip I called and asked for it for one evening and they ended up doing it the whole trip. The next time I called and they did it that night but not the next.

If we are going to be out of the room late it is a nice treat to come home too!:goodvibes

When we were at BC in September/October, we called after our afternoon showers to request turndown for the evening. We did not have an issue and turndown was handled promptly after 6:00 p.m. each day.

We stayed at the GF 11/8-11/13 and I picked it because we were there for our vow renewal and all our events(ceremony & reception) were at the GF.

Well, all I did was miss the POLY!!! We had such a great stay there in June and I really missed it. We loved our room, the resort, the pool, the food, the location. Everything. To me the GF couldn't measure up. Boy am I surprised to be saying this! I always snubbed the POLY(before our June stay) and referred to the GF as my favorite and couldn't wait to stay there again. Well, now I am looking for a way to get back to the POLY even though we are DVC members! We did get to stop by the POLY a few times for lunch and dinner! Which only made me miss it more!

The Polynesian is so special, isn't it? :goodvibes We manage to get back to our original favorite by booking weekends and sometimes a W, Th night before heading to a DVC resort.

How did your events go? Did you have fun?

Update on slide. Kids initially disappointed but they still used the two pools. Unfortunately our planned pool days weren't the best weather. Temps past week 40-80+. That's November for you. We cut short Epcot day Sat b/c it was great weather. DH and DSs hopped on a shuttle (pontoon boat at beach right in front of Volcano Pool) and used GF slide. They said it was super fast. Workers on Poly pool slide unobtrusive. Entire pool open and accessible. We looked on the bright side, you get a "free pontoon boat ride". They cannot say when it will reopen except for end of Nov. I would guess this week or next by the look of things.

Thanks for the update. The pontoon ride sounds like a lot of fun actually. So you were able to go from beach to beach on it.....not the docks?

Yep, Tokelau, Tahiti and Rapa Nui are the newest longhouses and the builders added balconies to the 2nd and 3rd floors. Patios on the ground level.

I think I just might do that, book the POLY on the weekends! Saves me points and gets me in my favorite place!

You can read all about the events and see pictures with these 2 links:

Tokelau and Tahiti both have balconies on the second floor :)

Many thanks to EVERYONE who responded to my question. :goodvibes I just couldn't get my mind around the balcony arrangement of the various longhouses. Even after 13 trips to WDW, I know next to nothing about the Poly. I do know that I like to keep my room requests simple though. Now it looks like I can just request Tokelau or Tahiti and I'll be content.

On an even more awesome note... just got off the phone with my TA. The trip is o-f-f-i-c-i-a-l-l-y BOOKED!:woohoo: Even better, my airfare came down $175 over the weekend. :yay: Now I just have to keep this secret from DW untl Christmas. It's hard being sneaky. :cool2:

Sorry for the bad info! I always get Tuvalu and Tokelau mixed up

Thankfully we have so many Poly lovers on the thread :goodvibes

I know this is an opinon type question but I would like some of you experts opinion please. Do you think the lagoon view is worth the extra money. If so why and if not why not. Thanks in advance

vicki is correct ::yes:: I'd like to add that the bathroom up on the third floor of the lounge is very big, and is a great place for changing (for example) out of your bathing suit on the last day of your trip if you've already checked out of your room because as some might not know, you will have access to the lounge until midnight of the day you check out. And unless they've changed this recently, there are nice fluffy towels in that bathroom, too. :) Also, there are board games in the seating area of the 3rd floor lounge.

Hope this helps. :sunny:

We also used it at check-in when our room wasn't quite ready. Packed bathing suits in our carry ons - left our bags in concierge - and headed out to the pool till our room was ready.

Let me preface this by emplaning that I have never had a room with a view anywhere until our stay at the Poly in May. Since we were getting 3 free days we figured this was our time to dream big so we booked a MK view room at Tahiti.:dance3:

OMG it was soooo GREAT!!! :cool1: When we walked in the room the first thing we saw was the view of the lagoon with the Castle and Space MT and CR behind it. It was wonderful. The part we loved the most was at night we sat out on our balcony and enjoyed the changing colors on the castle while our three kids tried to go to sleep. Because Tahiti is so quiet we only saw other guests briefly three times so it was like the Castle was all ours every night that week. It was Magical and very romantic for this old married couple;) . I never thought a view was worth the money before until this trip. I would say try it just once and see if it makes you feel as content as it did us.

Yes, they have little steps set up.

That sounds like fun....taking a boat over to swim. That will be a fun memory I imagine.

Ah, what a wonderful memory you made. Thanks for sharing it.:surfweb:

Hey everyone! I am new to the thread. My story is that my DH and I are taking our sons (1 and 3) to WDW on 11/27/09 and orginally had reservation to POR. Well, yesterday I was playing around online looking at 4/3 deals and the Poly showed up for a good price. My husband asked me if I wanted to upgrade and I said yes!!! So, now we changed our reservation to the Poly for 8 nights. I am so excited!!:yay: Since I have never been, can you give me some advice. I have a garden view room. We really want a balcony so we can sit outside especially when kids are trying to go to sleep. Where should I request? I know it is not a guarantee. Also, could you share some great things to do at Poly with small kids? Thanks so much!

Thank you for your response, I just booked a MK room. Can you recommend a floor or room number? Thanks

All of the longhouses have patios on the first floor and balconies on third. Tahiti, Rapa Nui, Tokelau have patios on first and balconies on second and third. Tokelau is central to the resort--close to quiet pool and bus stop, but not far from anything. It also has some nice side views that catch a bit of the Castle, etc.

Other longhouses are nearer the volcano pool and closer to the GCH--just depends on what you are looking for in a room. Let us know what your priorities are and there is a longhouse that would fit the bill.
