Is the sunrise and sunset a nice view on the lagoon at the Polynesian?

From what I remember, yes, yes they are. :cloud9: I loved the sunrise most because the Seven Seas Lagoon slowly comes to life. It's still as glass early in the morning.

What a great question. Yes, in fact, those are my 2 favorites times of the day at the Poly. Absolutely gorgeous. Bay Lake from the CR or WL is also breathtaking at these times. IMO, Disney has really missed out on not creating any other large bodies of water on property. I don't think it's just a coincidence that the SSL and BL were part of the original plans for WDW but no other large bodies of water have been created since. It's just not as profitable to have them.

We are leaving on Saturday for our first trip to the Poly. We have ADRs at Mickey's Backyard BBQ on Saturday and I was wondering what is the best way to get there using Disney transportation.

Thanks,

Have you tried the OLP transportation wizard?

We are going there for Hoop-De-Doo and plan on taking the monorail to Magic Kingdom, then there is a boat that goes right to that area. Last year, we took the bus to Ft. Wilderness, then had to take a quick shuttle bus at the resort to get there.

I loved Mickey's BBQ. Food was OK but the character interaction on the dance floor was great for all of us, kids and adults! FYI -- Arrive 30 minutes before the show time -- I believe they start letting people in 30 minutes before and you can get your food, pick out a table, etc.....

Does the Poly give out Leis to everyone at check-in? I remember some people saying they did not get them, others said they did.

What are they Leis -- I assume they are not real flowers... do they look like real flowers or are they just colored, ruffled, plastic? I'm trying to decide if we should get some from Disney Florist or somewhere else.....

I also remember a post about a craft session at the Poly to make real Leis. Anyone do that?

Sorry for all the questions... getting excited because we only have 10 more days until we arrive at the Poly!

They are silk/fabric flowers. I've never not gotten leis all the time while at the Poly. Our last 2 trips - I bet we came home with a dozen leis. They give them out at check-in, at the luau, at 'Ohanas before the photo, in the lobby, etc. Personally, I would not spend the money at a florist/Disney florist to get real flower leis, I've heard a few people do that, but I don't know why would you need to?

Oh my gosh, I can't believe it!! We are staying at the Poly for 3 nights in December (9th, 10, & 11th). We originally tried to make reservations at CSR, they were booked, as well as CBR, POR, & POFQ, were all sold out. So we went with the Poly.

We've never been to WDW in December, and can't wait to see all the decorations. We reserved a garden view room....any suggestions on which building(s) you like? I know we are not guaranteed any particular building, but can at least request.

I'm very excited to say that my brother and I are planning to stay at the Poly in August 2010 (his HS graduation) This is our first time venturing into deluxe-deluxe! We have stayed at Pop, POR, POFQ, CSR, WL & AKL multiple times! WL is my all time favorite, and we are debating a split stay between WL/Poly or just going straight for the Poly! Just had to subscribe and share, we are very excited I've heard a lot of great things!

We got them when we checked in last time. And lest you don't have enough, there was a big bowl of them in the kids' section of the lobby. We also racked up at Ohana...my kids came home with about 10+ leis.

I don't recall anything about a craft session, but that dies not mean there isn't one.

We got leis a couple times in the lobby, on arrival and another time just walking through. The first pic are those with my birthday button attached.

The other pics are one the leis that we got at the luau, not quite a full & pretty as the other ones, along with our photo & drink glass.

Here's some pixie dust :tink:for a great trip. I am so jealous since we don't have dates yet for our next trip "home", hopefully early next summer.

Well after spending about 2 days reading all of these post I am subscribing! :thumbsup2
We are going back to the world in November 2010 and I am 95% sure we are staying at poly.. its either there or Wilderness lodge.. I would love the poly for all the obvious reasons, but my 6 year old wants to stay at the WL, BUT only for the bunkbeds!!!

Can't wait to hear back from all of these trips coming up, hope you all have a blast and get some pixie dust sprinkled on you!

Thanks for the info. That is a pretty cool site, wish I had an iphone just so I could use that app.

Thanks Again!

Oooh that glass is really cool, did you get that as part of the SoA package?

No, it was not included. It was from a drink I purchased (for around $8-$9) but I cannot remember the name of it. It was yummy. The galss is plastic BTW, but makes a nice souvenir, which is why I put the lei in it. Looks pretty cool, IIMSSM. DD#1 got the drink in the coconut shell that is a bank. She took it home and is usung it to save up for our next trip "home".

The drinks that come with dinner are: "Bud and Bud Light Draft Beer, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, Tea (hot or iced), Coffee, Milk, Pink Lemonade, Sprite, Coke, and Diet Coke. Tropical Cocktails for purchase."

Anyone know if they have IPod Docking stations in the Club Level Rooms?

Also, do you have to pay for internet connection at CL?

Yes and yes. . .no freebies on the internet although some folks use their phones for internet access to avoid the costs. There are also DVD players. :thumbsup2

We stayed at the WL last December and had a room with the bunk beds. My daughters were excited about them - they ended up sleeping in the queen bed with me and my husband slept on the bottom bunk. Same thing a few weeks ago when we had the bunk beds at AKL, except this time it was my mom sleeping on the bottom bunk. :) I imagine I'll end up sleeping with one or both of them next year (if not all three - I don't know yet whether our son will be in a bed or the pack and play).
