ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: Summer 2011 Edition!

Unless there is a longhouse that would make you really UNhappy then go with the suprise. My last trip there I requested top floor near TTC. They gave me top floor Aotearoa facing monorail. I was very unhappy because I did not want to see the monorail and I wanted an interior resort view preferrably near TTC. They did search for quite a while and gave me same building--Aotearoa--with opposite view towards lagoon. We LOVED it. Turns out I was happy NOT to get my original request of near TTC. We had such an amazing view (thru a wimpy tree which is why it was still classified garden view) of the castle and even some fireworks. We could hear the soft luau music at night and people watch on the balcony as folks walked to the luau. It was a great experience. We still love being near TTC but now I know Poly has lots of great longhouses and each has its own unique "view personality and experience."

I thought the TTC was on the other side of the Polynesian near Rapa Nui ?

I thought POLY was expensive, OMG (My DH hates when I say omg) Aulani's airfare alone for family of four is more than the resort itself....Crazy, I'm sure it will be worth it, but come on...Delta Vacations, so far has best prices. I hope they (Disney)will have discount codes for Aulani soon!!!!(prob not) Excited anyways!:thumbsup2:cool1:

I requested a marina view its what i love it so much when we went to eat Breakfast at Ohannas. Seeing those boats out there thought it would be so nice to have a room with that view. Whats the chances of actually getting It?

4 more days. :yay::yay::yay:

It will be an interesting trip with our 7 year old (Disney World and Disney Land veteran) and 18 month old who is a handful (first Disney trip, first flight).

Hoping for some magic as we are celebrating our 20th anniversary this year.

I know what you mean! We went to Hawaii two years ago, and we were lucky because we were staying with family who lived on Oahu, so we didn't have to pay for a resort or rental car. But, just the airfare was very expensive for the four of us.

It made WDW seem like a bargain! Hawaii was really a once-in-lifetime thing for us. This is too bad, because I would LOVE to go again and stay at Aulani! So congrats and have fun!

Easy: Request Ground or 3rd floor Fiji!

Not that I was told or read anywhere, not listed on WDW, or Tinkiman's website. I would assume 4-6 in regular cabana and 6-8 in Premium based on comfortability. You will definitely enjoy-- whether half or full day! I will again in March, probably half day also because short trip:wizard:.

Thanks!!!!

Hi Everyone,
We're 8 days out from being able to check in online, but I hear mixed reviews about whether or not to do this. I've heard you have a better chance at upgrades if you wait, and that online check in doesn't save time at the Poly. Help? Opinions, please.

It is. They gave me half of my request(top floor) but put me in a longhouse furthest from TTC. That was sorta my whole point. It wasn't what I wanted but turned out to be a godsend because it gave us a whole new Poly experience.(our previous stay we had been in Tokelau). We LOVED the location. If they HAD given us both of our requests, we would have never had that wonderful new experience:cloud9:

Wanted to see my ticker. See how few days it has left?:cool1: I started it a year ago so I have been staring at it for a loooong time.
Logpey, or someone who is at WDW - I wanted to know if anyone has had any issues with the new monorail cut backs. I don't think it will really interfere with our plans but wanted to hear some feedback. Thanks and may you all have great trips!

I did see a bit of a delay at Epcot while waiting for a bus after EMH July 26th, we waited about 25 minutes, we were all tired. You would think knowing when EMH ended they would have some waiting on the crowds, maybe they did and they left before I got there, but it did take a while. They should have the kinks worked out by now!:thumbsup2

As far as MK goes, I believe that started Aug 1st, so not sure, We had no trouble out of boats, monorail or TTC while staying there. :wizard:

I ran into this too. I priced out an Aulani vacation and was surprised when it came up affordable. Then I priced the airfare for four of us and it was more than the resort. Around $5000. :scared1: I've since priced it on other sites and am still coming up with around $4000. Too much!! :scared:

Its nice that you had family to stay with and save you money!
I thought originally it looked reasonable compared to WDW then looking alittle closer I'm seeing the expense! :wizard: I'll have fun and be more excited once its paid for.. I'm trying to find the best deal!

Some of the routes planes take are crazy, Why would I leave Louisiana and go towards Memphis to get to Los Angeles to then go to Hawaii. It would be easier to drive two and half hrs to Dallas then board plane to Los Angeles to get to Hawaii and alittle cheaper, :headache:weird!

I just looked at Delta Vacations, like you had mentioned. It appears much cheaper than buying airfare through Disney/Aulani and even cheaper than any other site I've looked at. I can justify $5000 for the whole vacation, but not $5000 for just airfare! :scared1: But like you said -- the routes are crazy! :upsidedow

And I booked via AA Vacations so when I call Disney to try to make a room request, I have no luck because they can't "see" my reservation yet. Any suggestions? Is there a direct phone or fax number to the Poly I could use or do I just need to make my request in person when I check in or leave it to the tiki gods?

We are seriously looking at forgoing Disney next year and going to Aulani instead. Living in Seattle, we are so spoiled. We can get airfare to Honolulu for $189 on Alaska Airlines. I got a quote through Dreams Unlimited for a week next September in a partial ocean view room for around $3500 with a military discount. It's a little more than we would spend for a week at the Poly, even if I added in the Deluxe dining plan, but I've never been to Hawaii so I can justify the expense.

Congrats on your recent trip. Fax them at: 407-824-3174 for room requests to Polynesian.
407-824-2000 Resort phone number, but actually goes to call center.
When you check in also mention room requests!

I know you booked thru AAA but your still staying at the Polynesian, so keep trying and somehow it will all work out!
