ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: Summer 2011 Edition!

Just checked in at the Polynesian we have a 3rd floor room overlooking the volcano pool in Samoa

How exciting!! Have a great stay and keep us all posted with all the happenings:goodvibes

Does anyone of the bathroom doors at the Poly have a hook on them? I bought a small hanging organizer for our trip and I'd like to make sure we can use it.

It does not have one, but next to the shower one is hanging (for your towel) you could use that one, but awfully close to shower!:thumbsup2

OK, I'm doing the last-minute second-guessing. :scratchin

I never made a request for a Longhouse for this trip.
Even when we have made requests in the past, they often weren't granted and what we got turned out really great anyway.
Then last year at the CR, I had made no requests and we got a surprise upgrade at check-in to a huge hospitality suite! :cool1:I know it was not because I made no requests, but it made me superstitious!

But now I am second-guessing my decision. We were in Rarotonga last time and really liked it. If I were going to make a request that would be it. But we might like another building even better. Is it even too late to call in a request to be added to our ressie now anyway?

What do you guys think?

If you enjoy the surprise, I would say just go without a request. :goodvibes

You know they do have over the door hangers you could get one and pack it for the bathroom door!

Almost there! 47 more days!:cool1: I'm hoping we're going to love it here. It looks beautiful! We have stayed at the Contemporary twice before. Any advice? I requested the Tokelau longhouse for the central location.

Thanks for sharing all of the wonderful pictures! We can't wait to be back and thinking of doing the cabana for one of the 1/2 days. With such a short trip I don't think we can spend a full day at the pool. However, may do a full day in June 2012.

Is there a maximum capacity for the regular cabanas? What about the larger one?

Unless there is a longhouse that would make you really UNhappy then go with the suprise. My last trip there I requested top floor near TTC. They gave me top floor Aotearoa facing monorail. I was very unhappy because I did not want to see the monorail and I wanted an interior resort view preferrably near TTC. They did search for quite a while and gave me same building--Aotearoa--with opposite view towards lagoon. We LOVED it. Turns out I was happy NOT to get my original request of near TTC. We had such an amazing view (thru a wimpy tree which is why it was still classified garden view) of the castle and even some fireworks. We could hear the soft luau music at night and people watch on the balcony as folks walked to the luau. It was a great experience. We still love being near TTC but now I know Poly has lots of great longhouses and each has its own unique "view personality and experience."

Not that I was told or read anywhere, not listed on WDW, or Tinkiman's website. I would assume 4-6 in regular cabana and 6-8 in Premium based on comfortability. You will definitely enjoy-- whether half or full day! I will again in March, probably half day also because short trip:wizard:.
