For those of you visiting the Poly during the pool closure, Tikiman is reporting the following on his FB page: "Guests who are staying at the Polynesian during the closure of the Nanea pool are going to be offered a visit to Blizzard Beach for free. Letters going out to guests will have this statement in it. “We anticipate the Nanea Volcano Pool and Slide to close for enhancement in late July through early 2015. Should you find the pool unavailable during your stay, one complimentary ticket to Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park, our watery winter wonderland featuring waterslides, a wave pool, water play areas for the kids and more, will be given to each member of your party. To ensure you have a seamless visit to the Park, we will provide transportation to a dedicated check-in at Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park where you will receive your complimentary tickets and towels.” He said guests will also be allowed to use the GF pool.

Oh my gosh---THANKS! That totally makes me feel better! We were planning a visit there anyway, so that will save us more than $200.

Does anyone know if the laundromat is closed I heard it was, if so is there somewhere I will be able to wash.

Anyone know when the waterfall will be removed? I really want to get over there this weekend to take my kids picture in front of it. Thanks!

According to Tikiman the laundry room is closed. Another poster who was staying at the Poly confirmed it was closed. I called and the person I talked to checked all of the places they look for closures and refurbishments and said 'no, it's open." So I have no idea how long it will be closed but Tikiman anticipates it being closed for a while.

That being said, I am sure you will be able to do laundry at the GF or the Contemporary. I am also buying extra underwear for our trip because I do not relish the idea of carting my family's dirty underwear around WDW property.:rotfl2:

ETA: The letter I received from the Poly today has no mention of the laundry room being closed either.

The laundry room was closed, we just got back on Tuesday. We were told that we could use the laundry rooms at the other resorts.

If we do book the POLY standard view what longhouse should I request? We would like a real balcony. The view it self isn't important since it's just a quick trip but in standard view category where is the best "view"?

Just got back, absolutely loved the concierge, did not notice the construction. I suppose this is because we prepared ourselves ahead of time so it wasn't a shock to see walls up everywhere. All of the staff at the club level were so nice. There was a young man who was the cook on Sunday nights at the lounge who was especially nice. Stood there smiling at people and answered any questions. I can't remember his name though?

Just leaving today. We stayed in Fiji. Construction wasn't bad for us. They seem to be putting up a wall a day around the waterfall. The wall at the entrance was kind of ugly, but aside from that and the inconvenience of Captain Cook's being relocated, we did not feel like the construction impacted us at all.

I don't know if anyone has posted, but I just read guests who are staying while pool is closed will be getting a free 1 day ticket to Blizzard Beach.

:thumbsup2

Yay!

Hey we get there the same day as you. 3 crazy ladies on a long weekend trip!
:cool1: Just 2 crazy ladies but we sure like leaving our slugs, I mean dh and ds at home.:rotfl2:

No one seems to be excited about the special access line and FREE towels. Those seem like nice perks.

We are in hawaii concierge 1st time stay at poly and the construction is not bad IMO. We have visited the resort many times while eating at Ohana and kona several times, and honestly feel like there is a lot of hype about how bad the construction is.

That makes me glad to hear as we will be at the Poly next week! It's our favorite Disney Resort, but, our first time staying Club Level!!

Just an FYI, it is now being reported that guest staying at the Poly will NOT have use of the GF pool. They will have their one day at Blizzard Beach and then be able use the East Pool for the remainder of their stay.

When do they think Captain Cooks will be open again?

It is open in a different location, and they have done a good job with it. They will move back to the old location from my understanding.
