But this is the Poly thread. I expect to find general Poly information and reviews.

I am sorry things did not go as planned, but I don't see general complaining as relevant to this thread.

You said you expect reviews... That's basically what it is.. She came to this thread b/c she knew a lot of ppl here understand. Part of a review is what your experience is/was...

I hope, lol. I'm sure it will be great but I can't wait to see the newly refurbished rooms at the Poly!!

Anyone who is there now, could you tell me if you have a working refrigerator? When we made our reservation the person I spoke with said she couldn't tell if all the rooms had new/working refrigerators or not, but had it noted that we needed the frig for medicines. Just wondering if the poly has gotten the new refrigerators or if not, is there some place where they will store refrigerated medicines for you?

We're here in Tokelau and have had a working fridge since we checked in on 7/31.

Hi poly peeps. My update:

Well we are here. We arrived on Saturday and got to the resort close to 1 and our room was ready. I requested Tokelau and a balcony. An we are Tokelau 1st floor which works for me. I really just wanted this building!

We did chef mickeys that first night and swam. Watched the water parade and fireworks ad then went to bed.

We did DHS Sunday an came back to our room around 1-2 and our room wasn't done. We went to the pool and started laundry. I came back to the room close to 4 to bring my clean clothes back. I wasn't thrilled when I used my key, opened the door an there was a housekeeper with towels. There was no sign on the door saying she was in there and it was shut. There were also no housekeeping carts in the hallway.

Monday we went to AK and got back here between 12:30-1 and our room wasn't done but we needed a nap.

Just got back at around 3 and our room is done.

That is my only complaint about the poly. Well that and the fact that the quiet pool is not deep anymore. When did that happen?

And no morning paper.

Oh and the park bathrooms are so dirty. Yuck.

Tokelau 1st floor in the hallway looks like it had some water in the carpet. And last night we walked thru Tahiti and it had the musty smell and had the dehumidifiers in the hallway.

Glad you got the longhouse you requested :thumbsup2. I'm sorry about the few mishaps you've had with housekeeping, but hopefully it turns around for the rest of your trip :wizard:.

But the hammocks were free!

Sadly, our trip come to an end tomorrow. But don't worry, Poly, we'll be back!

I LOVE the hammocks!!! On our Poly stay we spent a few afternoons relaxing/napping in the hammocks while listening to the boat whistles as the boats went back and forth to MK....oh how I wish I was there now :cloud9:.

Sorry your trip comes to an end tomorrow, but that just means it's time to start planning the next one (if you haven't already ;)).

As far as room requests go...has anyone had any luck checking in later at night (our flight arrives at 6:30 p.m., so we won't get to the resort until 8:30ish or later) and getting their room request granted? We're checking in the night before Thanksgiving and I'm sure it'll be a busy night for the front desk. So, I'm super worried that we have zero chance at getting our request (Tokelau building). Is there anything I can do to up our chances?

I know every situation is different and it depends on the time of year, but when we stayed at the Poly, we had a late flight and didn't check in until around 1:00 a.m. I requested Samoa, first floor, facing volcano pool (in that order). When we checked in, our first 2 requests were fulfilled, with the 3rd being fulfilled if we wanted to change rooms the next day. We decided to stay put as we wanted to get settled and we had a pretty view of the quiet pool, but I thought it was great that the CM did everything he could to accommodate our requests. So with all of that said, checking in later in the evening doesn't necessarily mean you won't get your request(s) :).

So who is staying at the Poly in Sept?

I have to wait until December :(......but we're trying CL for the first time so I'm thinking it will be worth the wait ::yes::.

We're arriving Sept 5, after 4 nights on the Dream. Funny thing is, I am more anxious for the resort stay, and I've never been on a cruise!!

This made me laugh because we are taking our first Disney cruise in December (3 nights) with WDW stays both before and after. We're trying the CR before and Poly CL after and I think I'm more excited to try the CR and experience CL at the Poly than I am to go on the cruise  (and I'm VERY excited to go on the cruise :dance3:).

Oh you'll love it we did our first Disney cruise last Sept it was really nice, Disney Fantasy for 7 nights...

We're trying the Dream for 3 nights in December and I can't wait :yay:.

I was just looking at the Tikiman site and I saw the online check-in request form. Can you really only select two checkboxes? We'd love a balcony so that will be one check... but as for a longhouse we'd be delighted with about 5 of them! I wish I could somehow tell the Poly what our top 5 longhouses would be, so they could possibly put us in any one of those, in case our only selection is the longhouse everybody is requesting. (And yes, I know these are just requests - I just want to throw out there that I will be pleased as punch just knowing I have a bed. Thank you, Disney. :worship:)

As to the entitlement issue, I have the exact same feelings about Americans. It's disgusting the way some of us act. However, I didn't read the post by KarrieAlex to be anything but venting after a long hard day.

At least Americans aren't regarded as arrogant jerks. Whew. We wouldn't want any posts on here to perpetuate THAT sort of impression. ;)

Hello everybody :wave2:

We'll be staying at Poly Sept 18-21 for the first time! We will be then moving on to BC for two nights. Short last minute trip as we will be visiting again in December (GF/AKL).

So I received a call today from Disney asking if I wanted to go from Poly (standard view) to GF (lagoon view). I asked her if there was some issues like the pool for instance. This is the first thing that popped into my mind just because that is why we booked poly. I also had read previously that there might be a pool closure so I was worried. She said it wasn't the pool and didn't really know why they were offering me an upgrade. Obviously they are not going to move people because of a pool , felt a little dumb about mentioning it. I'm guessing it's just overbooked? :confused3

Anybody else receive this call?

Sorry for interrupting the previous lively discussion ;)

You can only request two but you can call in add more to your reservation!!

Interesting..........popcorn::

As I think someone mentioned earlier, the rooms are assigned days in advance, not as you arrive, so it really shouldn't make a difference unless I misunderstand how it works.

That said, our flight gets in around the same time at the end of October so I will report back and let you know how ours went.

Yeah, I read that rooms are assigned a few days in advance. But, I'm wondering how many people request a certain location at check in and have that request granted because they are there early in the day. I would really appreciate hearing your experience in October (not that it'll be the same for me....just curious to see how it goes). Thanks! :goodvibes

Thanks for letting me know your experience with checking in late and still having some of your requests granted. Helps to know it IS possible and someone has had a good experience ;). Keeping my fingers crossed that it works out for us even though our vacation starts on Thanksgiving Eve!

Hi!! We are staying at the Poly for the first time Sept 13-21. I'm so excited! I've been wanting to stay there since the first time I saw it. September can't come fast enough!

I've been stressing myself out over getting every aspect of the trip perfect. I debated FOREVER on which longhouse to request and finally decided on Tokelau. I figure it's a good central location to everything and the larger rooms will help my family of 5 have room to spread out a little more. We are also going with my mom and stepdad, and my mom wants us to have connecting rooms so the kids can go back and forth. I personally don't really care as long as we're close to each other, but I put the request in and they added a "traveling with" note to my account which is supposed to help get us in closer rooms, is my understanding. My stepdad also really wants a balcony. Again, I figured Tokelau was a good option since both the 2nd and 3rd floors have balconies.

My stressor now is check-in. I've been able to do online check-in for a while, but I've never done it before and it makes me kind of nervous. Our flight gets in to MCO at 2:00, so I figure it will be 3:30ish when we get to the Poly. I'd rather just do regular check-in to make sure I get my requests, or at least as close as possible to them, but is that a crazy busy time for check-in? Would I be better off doing online check-in to save time? But if I do online check-in, is it harder to get my requests? Has anyone had any experience checking in around that time in the afternoon? We booked SV rooms. Would have loved a better view or even CL, but the Poly SV was a stretch on the budget as it is, so I'm happy just to be staying there, no matter what the view.

I have a friend who is staying at the Poly Sept 21-29. When she booked it about a month ago, they told her there would be construction in the lobby? Anyone else hearing this? I can't seem to find any info.

Wait, who told her? I thought construction at GCH was supposed to happen some time next year?
