I was at dinner tonight and missed a call from a lady at WDW said she was calling about our September trip to the Poly (17-20) and that it was very important that they speak to me. She was only in until 7:30 so I wasn't able to return her call but will do so and report back if its anything.
Lets hope for the sake of people who have already planned a trip that Tahiti stays open and it was just an overbooking thing. Its just rare they ask people to move to another resort unless some building will be closed. Usually they move them into club level. The only other issue may be that if Tahiti stayes open and what I was told about the work on the lagoon starting in September I would not think people would be happy to be in Tahiti with heavy equipment on the beach. I am assuming to do the supports out in the water will take some serious equipment. I think they would be better off to close Tahiti while that is going on.
I guess we will find out once September is here.

Poly People... At the risk of sounding like a crazy party girl (I can assure you, I'm not). Has anyone tried turning a dole whip into an adult beverage? I still don't quite know what DW is like, but if it's slushy I am thinking it would be amazing with rum or vodka! If it's like ice cream I'm guessing you'd just get a sloppy mess.
Add siesta key rum!
Last time we stayed at the Poly I got a dole whip from captain cooks, took it back to my room and poured pineapple juice over it, it was exactly like the dole whip floats you can get at MK. Of course, that only works if you pack a couple little cans of pineapple juice with you on your trip since I didn't see them for sale at the Poly (thankfully we drive so packing some extra treats like that isn't a problem). I bet if you mixed some rum with the pineapple juice or poured straight rum over the dole whip it'd be just as good. Dole whips are pretty much the consistency of ice cream, but when you add anything to them (juice, milk, alcohol) it basically turns it into a yummy pineapple-y milkshake!
There is another Diser staying in Samoa right now!!
Sent from my iPad using DISBoards
Me! I also think there is another & we are both 3rd floor volcano pool side. We were the ones swimming VERY quietly & VERY late.
So, like a rum float?
Oh wait... I suppose I can stir it into the milkshake consistency you speak of. Thank you for the advice!

(And yes, I'm the one who was asking about bringing a bottle of Kahlua for my decaf coffee when we're watching fireworks on the beach.) Like I said, I'm not a party animal... I'm just raising 3 little girls and when I am going on first vacation in several years, you can bet I'm going to do what I can to live it up.
Heck I might even switch that decaf to regular.

I discovered it really pays to strike up conversations with people. This morning I was sitting outside and started talking to this lady about how much my kids were getting into pin trading and how much we have spent on it since getting here. She suggested going on to Ebay and looking for lots of pins, which are a fraction of the cost in the parks. I just did it and was amazed at the amount of pins I could get for a fraction of the cost we have put out here for just a few pins. I am definitely ordering some as soon as we get home for our next trip. Then the kids will be able to trade to their hearts desire and I wont have to be figuring out what bank I am going to rob ROFL!! I seriously have put out about 300.00 in pins since we got here and at 29.99 for 7 pins that is not many pins at all.
Someone a few pages back asked about bathroom vents in the refurbished rooms. When we were just there in Hawaii, the vents were motion based. It would go on when you went in the bathroom (or turned on the the lights) but then would go off if it couldn't detect any motion. The timer seemed a little too short, though, so it would go off 3/4-way through a shower, and you would have to stick your arm out from behind the curtain and wave for it to go back on.otherwise worked pretty well, and some of the mirrors seemed to be condensation-resistant as well.
Loved the new room overall.
We have poly booked 11/18-11/25. Up until today, I had been feeling pretty comfortable that any major construction would not be starting until the beginning of the year. Suddenly, there seems to be a lot of talk about closings/ construction beginning in September.
We are very, very excited about our Poly stay - it's something we've always hoped to be able to do and kind of a splurge for us. I'm really hesitant to change to another resort b/c my family is SO looking forward to staying at Poly. So, I'm wondering - what happens if we don't change and there is major construction happening when we get there? Is our only option to just deal and use GF pool? Will we be offered the option of switching resorts at check-in?
I keep seeing talk of people changing to different resorts in advance, but does Disney do anything to work with guests if they don't act in advance (especially since interactions with CMs have given us no reason to believe we should need to)?
I am sure the Poly will do all it can to shield us from the construction.
I am still going to book for December and not worry about it.
