I love that sunset!! Yummy,, but did anyone notice there is no price on the menu?? (as if we don't care how much it is!) :rotfl2:

OMG, I didn't even realize that!!! So being a fond drinker myself ;) and coming from a high altitude, it is very difficult for DH and I to feel the effects of alcohol at sea level. It's great because we don't get the adverse effects either  But we've found that drinks are so much better at Disney! We'll even try making our own at the resort and we just don't get the oomph that the Disney bartenders do. So I'll shell out the $8 - $13 for one fabulous drink that 'does the job' than make my own (wait, I don't mean I'll only get ONE, just that one drink costs that much!). And I'm on vacation anyway - I DO budget for alcohol :rotfl:

Just back from our Poly stay ... didn't see this posted anywhere so thought I'd post a quick pic of the new toiletries. Don't know if the change was just in the Hawaii Bldg or resort wide

At polyp right now and only getting the regular standard toiletries as in years past. We are in Fiji.

Someone posted a pic of these toiletries on the CSR thread. Sounds like it might only be concierge but maybe they'll put them in all the rooms. I REALLY like the scent shown in the pictures!!! I would much prefer grapefruit than the 'sea' scent (which is fine, but not what I like). I wonder if you asked for the tink toiletries, if they'd give them to you????

Just returned from extra magic hours at epcot. Had to take a bus back and was a bit miffed. Was not aware mono stops running at 10 magic hours or not. More angry at myself for not knowing this fact. Did I miss the memo? One of the cm's told me it was like that last year too. Must have never noticed and feel so dumb. DGD and I stood in a too packed bus shared with the GF. Not a big deal considering how wonderful the rest of the trip has been...... But wanted to let anyone else know who also was unaware.

Yeah, this changed last year. We ended up taking the bus back from Epcot once because we wanted to stay late and shop. It wasn't bad but certainly the perk at staying at the Poly is the monorail. So we made an effort to get back to the monorail before they closed on our other Epcot nights! I do like these signs at the Poly for the MK monorail though - gives you a heads up!

Here's my question- I've read somewhere about a running path that's about 1.5 miles from the Poly to the GF and back- anyone know if it's still there - are there maps at the front desk?

I was there 2 weeks ago and the path was still open from the Poly to GF. You'd run the same path there and back, it's not a loop. There is some construction (you can't call it that, there are just walls up!) but it is only for a little bit between the wedding pavillion and GF. But why run when you can stroll and have a dole whip??? :thumbsup2

A frozen mojito? Oh you've gotta be kidding me. I think Guitarob and I are going to have to tighten our budget belts even more in light of all the drinking we'll be doing (and if pics from the last trip are any indication...we already did our fair share... :rolleyes1 ...) ;)

I don't care what anyone else says but you walk SO MUCH at Disney.... YOU HAVE to drink a lot :woohoo:

Suitcases packed.. Sitting next to front door.. Our driver sent us a text.. Confirming our pick-up. Checked into airlines.. Now I hope I sleep tonight!! :cool1::yay::woohoo:

:yay::yay::yay:

Have so much fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Enjoy your trip Carl!

Sorry to hear about your CC incident.. Keep in mind they are STRESSED to the max with the amount of volume and clientele they get each and everyday! Glad to hear your going to give it another go!

I understand that completely - and ultimately that's what caused the problem. We made a special diets request and the manager said sure - but then proceeded to complain (very loudly) about us to the other CMs. I said, if it's a problem don't worry about it, we can find something else to eat. But she insisted on continuing - and continued insulting us and complaining to the other CMs. There was no need for her to do what she did, I asked, she could have said 'sorry can't accommodate', she could have done many things. Instead she felt the need to insult us. As it was there were only 2 other guests in there at the time. They may have been busy earlier, but not while we were there.

On our next trip, all we will get from CC are dole whips, fruit, and drinks.

Arrived last night! Beautiful TPVCL. We will see how the wifi live stream will be tonight!
Here's a blurry pic for you guys

Glad to see lots of love on this thread for the Poly. We've been Beach Club/BCV fans but decided on a change this year. We've only been to the Poly to go to 'Ohana but loved the look and feel of the resort. That being said, we're excited to finally arrive in seven days and will enjoy every second of our two week stay (insert mental happy dance). I'll be easy to spot if anyone else happens to be there from the 9th to the 23rd. Just look for the big gray haired guy (40ish on the outside, 16 on the inside) wearing an Arkansas Razorback shirt and a goofy grin.

Just got back early this morning from our first ever Poly stay:sad1: We were in Rapi Niue....loved the room...so large...We will stay here again! The rooms were very clean and we had towel animals every day!

O'hana's was AWESOME!! We enjoyed Captain Cooks as well! The only thing I could have had less of was the rain!

It is going to be very hard to go to another resort!

Sitting on beach now.our last night. So hummed. Try to find Carl but no luck. Hope he hasbetter weather than we did

the poly looks perfect the only thing is we like plain simple food :( not sure what to do thats the only down fall. i guess i could just take the monarail to grand floridean and eat dinner at that hotel . we do not do park every day we do 2 parks a year .

So sorry to hear about this theft. When we just stayed, that was a deep concern of mine.....leaving cash behind. DH wasn't concerned in the least. He left his stash, and I stayed glued to mine the whole trip. Unfortunately, in this day and age, paranoia regarding this stuff gets the best of me. This would DEFINITELY be a "resort changer" for me. I also do not feel as if it could be another guest. Getting into your room would just make for too difficult a feat.
Hope and pray the GM is better equipped to assist you. Try not to have your vacation ruined by all of this. Have a great time at the parks on this beautiful Sunday.

Okay so.... I'm an idiot!! The cash was moved to another location in our room!!

I am a simple food kind of person too. However, there are plenty of options at the Poly. At Captain Cooks breakfast has lots of main stream basics, lunch and dinner there is turkey sandwiches, pizza, burgers, grilled cheese, etc. I did become adventurous last year and try the pork nachos and OMG!!!!! This does not even include the options at Kona Kafe.

I concur with 1971DBday - there are lots of basics at Captain Cooks and even Kona Cafe (which you can typically get a seat at without an ADR) has some items that can be considered simple. And you can always special order items at both places (like removing toppings or sauces to get to a more basic steak, chicken, or burger). All the resorts have some basic fare and some unique items - even Gasparilla Grill has both types of items. One of my daughter's favorite meals at Captain Cooks is just a simple grilled cheese!

But if you want to go to GF, it is super close! You can take a 10 - 15 minute leisurely stroll or hop on the monorail. That's what is great about staying at any of the monorail hotels, they are very easy to get to just to shop and eat.

Ticker check!! I'm so excited for September to get here!!! Ready to our first stay at Poly! :cool1:

Ok, on the live feed, all I am seeing is a slide show. Is this what I am supposed to be seeing?
