ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Winter 2011 Edition

Yes, I'd love to hear more!!

When we were last at the Poly. (Feb. 2011) the CM at the front desk and I were talking about why the Poly had no King beds. The response was that many people have asked this same question, and that the King beds were in the works, and would probably start showing up the first part of 2012. These were to first be installed in the larger rooms with two chairs now.

Packing packing packing .......................we leave at 3 a.m. tomorrow morning  It is worth it though to have the whole day at the Poly.

Can't wait. :cool1::cool1::cool1::banana::banana::banana:

So I asked DH for a non-Disney nut opinion about WL vs. other hotels we've stayed at. Keep in mind, this is the man I have to bribe to go to Disney every year  So he's not a nut like I am and obsessed with all these little details. And while I've told you on this thread that I prefer the Poly, he also had no hesitation in saying he preferred the Poly. It was all about the location and the transportation for him. The monorail just can't be beat. He enjoyed Beach Club as well for the location but it was the monorail for him. So there you have it, it boiled down to that!

Strange question - should probably post this as a general resort question, but thought I'd check here first :)

I was just checking online for our Sept-Oct trip. We're going from 9/28-10/3. I accidentally put in 10/4 as our departure date (so 9/28-10/4) and had several room options (GV, TPV, LV-CL, TPV-CL). The $$ looked high, and that's when I realized my mistaken date. However, when I changed it back to 10/3, the CL options disappeared! :confused3 How can rooms be available for a longer length of time, but not a shorter?? I mean, if they're available from 09/28-10/4 they have to be available for 09/28-10/3 right??

Is it possible that they'll only book CL rooms for a minimum length of stay? (BTW, this was looking at rack rate, not any special deal).
My guess is that the reservation system is putting a temporary hold on your room for the longer stay when you look at it, and maybe there is only 1 CL reservation left for that time period. It may be smart enough to register your IP or something and know when you have completely logged out of the computer, or it may keep the hold for a period (like 10 minutes or less). I have had that happen on reservations with Vegas hotels. I think it's done to protect those who are browsing rates, to make sure the availability will be there when they decide to (or not to) book 5 minutes later.

Not sure if I'm right - but just a theory.

You won't get any sleep tonight-better finish packing and take a nap :) Enjoy your trip!

Interesting! Thanks!

I'm not sure if I'm super excited about the news of king size beds. We travel with our kids, so never want a king room. I imagine they could eventually be scattered throughout the different room categories, which will make fewer rooms available per floor, per long house, for each category or specific requests. It wouldnt' affect a couple (you can still sleep in a room with two beds if a certain room is more important to you), but a family of 4 or 5 can't fit in a king room. Just sayin' ... Totally selfish I know, but one more TPV king room or third floor king room is one less available for my family. :headache:

You know, ITA with you, maiapapaya!:thumbsup2

Was always told that the King beds belonged to the King Kamehameha suite and then they added several Kings to the other suites in the Tonga LH.

Since Poly has always been so strongly family-oriented, thought they would keep the 2 queen/daybed setup. :)

Well, the CARLCAM did it for DH! We'll be celebrating our 17th anniversary this fall at the Poly!
Now, off to change my ticker! :cloud9:

Missoutandabout- it looks like we'll be there the same time wearing our invisable cloaks!

OK, I thought you changed resorts today:scratchin. Here I am talking on the Resort Changer's thread today about possibly switching from the Poly, just as you're switching to the Poly:upsidedow

Have a great anniversary at the Poly!

:lmao::lmao::lmao: I sincerely promise I'm the good kind of crazy.:laughing::laughing: Unless you ask my hubster, that is.

Yay, another anniversary couple! Will you be sporting a Lime Green Mickey, LuLu'sMom? Or anyone else there toward the middle-end of September? I'll be wearing mine on my bag again; I unknowingly met Teena (the lovely BC Teena) when we were visiting Cape May Cafe last September.

If you see lots of empty, dug-out pineapples and I'm not invisible, you should be able to spot me by looking around underneath the tables.
