ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Winter 2011 Edition

I'll be at the airport this time tomorrow and tomorrow night, I'll be sipping drinks by the volcano pool :cool1:

Can't believe in one week we will boarding a plane going to our "happy place". Can hardly wait!:cool1: It will be here before we know it!:yay:

Its a bit longer then that for us, but I'm still super excited to be going back to my favorite resort!:cheer2:

How has your stay been??

One week from today I'll be there pool-side :cool2:

Our stay was quite nice until last night. DS got very sick. Needed fresh linens twice. Not good, but housekeeping was really great about it.

As we were checking out this morning, Captain Cooks was overrun by tour groups. It appears that they are branching out from their usual stays at the Value Resorts. We also noticed that the parks were much crowded the last two days compared to earlier in the week.

The Poly, itself, was as lovely as ever. We dined at Ohana and Kona and had fabulous service at each, especially Kona. The volcano pool was crowded but we saw most everyone had wrist bands. The Quiet Pool wasn't nearly as busy but the water was so warm. You had to actually go inside and shower to get relief from the heat.

I hope your temps aren't nearly as hot next week.

I was just wandering around Target today and saw this fabulous shirt in the girls section! I picked one up for Breezy. I think it is Poly perfect!!! :goodvibes

I also picked up some shorts a size larger than what she is wearing now and a few bathing suits too because I am telling you this kid is growing like a weed and I am fearful by October she will have outgrown all her shorts and stuff!!

A great way to celebrate entering into the 3 month mark :cool1::banana:

LOVE It! So perfect for the Poly!

By this time next week I'll be spending the first evening of our trip at the Poly. I am so excited!!!

So jealous of all of you that are going soon! I have 154 days to go! I don't know how I am going to stand it!!! I am surprising my family with the Disney Dream vacation! Here are my list of surprises!

Theme Park View Club Level (they think we are staying Garden View only)
Private Cabana by the pool!
Swimming with Dolphins at Discovery Cove & a private cabana there too! :woohoo:
gift baskets delivered to the room for each of them!

My parents did everything for me growing up so I wanted to give back to them! My love of Disney comes from all those trips growing up! It's time to give them the royal Disney treatment! pixiedust:

My only dilemma... our discount package doesn't start until Sunday and we want to arrive on Saturday afternoon so we were going to get a room only. But after all I have done I can't see paying $1480 for two rooms in TPV CL. :scared1: Any thoughts or solutions? I want them to get the royal treatment from the beginning but can't figure it out. :confused3

I would get a regular GV for Saturday and they won't think anything of it because that is what they are expecting and then let all the fun surprises begin on Sunday! They will be shocked!

Wooo that's fabulous!!!

You guys will appreciate this. I took my dd out shopping the other morning while her brothers were still in school. We went to Christmas tree shops who has some fabulous tiki gear in right now and of anything she could get in the store (1 item only) she picked up a solar tiki lamp for her room (meant for outdoors though  ). Then we headed over to the American Girl store for her 1st trip ever in there, she has a doll but in 2 years I have maybe seen it 10x. Anyhow the doll of the year is Kanani, a Hawaiian doll and my dd was instantly in love. Trying not to drop huge amts on another doll we ended up buying lots of accessories for hers, a matching dress for dd, and then we found elsewhere Molly's Hula costume (w/ leis and a grass skirt  ). Needless to say it ended up being a very expensive morning and my dd has been playing Poly with her doll ever since!

Anyhow if any of you have Christmas Tress shops near you they have some great stuff in right now. Here's a link to their flier, page 3 shows some of it:

The internal battle has officially begun... I knew it would! So I need your opinions... :thumbsup2

We are currently booked CL TPV. I definitely want to stay CL. However, am I just plain silly for the added expense for TPV as opposed to GV? We love the Poly, we don't care where we stay, we've never been disappointed. Those that have stayed GV v. TPV - please help a fellow poly peep out...

It's not expense, we can afford it - but I keep asking myself if I'm being too frivolous. And would I be happier to save the $$ for something else if we do CL GV. :confused3

Thanks!

That shirt is too cute! I bought Kaylee the yellow one with Minnie wearing her Hula outfit.

So what's the $ difference between the two? And what could you get with that $? If your saving a few hundred maybe it's worth it to you to stick with TPV to say you have done and and to spoil yourselves for the trip. If it's a few thousand IMO I could book another trip for that, so no way would I spend that on a view. Something else that would sway me either way was if its a once every 5 year, or a 3rd time this year trip. ;) Once every 5 year = totally go for it. Third time this year = enjoy the view from the CL lounge. :thumbsup2

We've done CL GV and loved watching wishes in the lounge. It was our nightly wind down routine, have drink (or a few :upsidedow ), a few treats, ohh and ahh and then off to bed. We need our room to be dark so the curtains were always drawn. TPV would be completely wasted on us!

I have been battling with this myself and it is quite a bit more expensive to stay TPV. The question for me was... how much will I get to enjoy that view? If the answer was hardly never then I would have done the GV. I have planned our itinerary around enjoying being in the room and getting to watch wishes, etc.... We have been to Disney so much it doesn't really matter if we spend all day in the parks. So we are happy to go to the parks for several hours then come back and enjoy the resort.

If this is what you plan on doing then I say YES its worth it, but if you don't plan on being in your room much then maybe go with the GV.
