Walk back from Grand Floridain Spa

It looks as if the cabanas are taking up a lot of 'prime' space where there use to be tables and umbrellas ... does there seem to be less space to lounge at the pool than before?

That is a good question... I thought the same thing when I saw the photos. How many cabanas are there???

Thanks for the pictures too!!! Keep them coming!!! :thumbsup2

There are only two of the cabanas and they take up the entire upper level patio. Since they were placed there, the lounging space is smaller than before. There used to be two tables and six to eight chairs up there. :sad2:

The walk to the Grand Floridian Spa is about 10 minutes, more or less depending on which Poly building you leave from. To get to the Grand Floridian hotel it is another 5 minutes.

The cabanas take up the upper level patio area.

*****There is a 3rd cabana. It is considered a PREMIUM cabana. It is located behind the pool bar. It is larger, has a large dining table and a small beach acres that is roped off. I will post pictures tomorrow.

Well it looks like they grabbed the sunning deck but a lot of people will be happy.. It took out yet another smoking area! :confused3::thumbsup2

Thanks LorieDisneyLover... great pics ... really enjoyed waking up to those!

For all you out there - what do you think about reserving the cabanas. Here is my issue... we are not sure about how much time we are going to spend on the pools and on what days...(2 small kids, first trip, just having to wing it at least a little) so I am quite hesitant about reserving them. I am going May 7-13. 1) Do you think there would be day of reservations available for the cabanas? 2) I don't think that I really need the cabana - BUT is there other seating available with chairs/umbrellas. The last post that said the cabanas took away a bunch of those has me a little concerned.

TammyDel - can you see the name of the "premium cabana" and post it for me. We have one reserved for our July trip. I reserved it for the whole day so I'd like to request the "best one" if possible.

Thank you for all your pictures!

On line for Tower of Terror right now(and this was supposed to be hang at the hotel trip!) I'll post cabana lifts when I go back. There are two regular cabanaas - I'm sure I'll messup the names manu lay and manu kau, there is one premium kilauea. The regular ones and $ $185 for the day the premium is $300. Regular are on that upper patio level the premium is behind the pool bar....hard to explain but I'll post photos when I get back. Today is one of our cabana days, I'll let you know how it goes.

It certainly looks like the quiet pool is somewhat delayed......And no zero entry but the removal of the deep end is likely.

PS: Happy we changed from CL Gv to CL LV now....

These rumors don't give me warm fuzzies. :( I'm kind of a purist, I love the Poly the way it is and I don't know how they could keep the resort open during the time it would take to level the GCH. I guess this is giving me even more reason to make that December trip. For all we know it may be my last one with the Poly as it is currently.

Now as for the quiet pool, I knew it was seriously delayed but the fact that there is no end date in sight for the construction makes me sigh. Although, if there is a silver lining, I suppose it means they will keep up the wristbanding at the volcano pool.
(PSSST! Hear that lurking pool hoppers? STAY OUTTA OUR POOL!)

I keep looking toward Aulani with baited breath. I'm a west coaster so the non-stop to Hawaii is actually close to equidistant to our flight to Florida. That may be our next spring vacation.

$300:scared1:

Okay so I'm guessing we'll stick withour $185 cabana! I thought that was a splurge! I can't wait to hear about your cabana day. Let me know which one you had and if there is any difference between the two "economy" cabanas.

Thanks!

From all the pictures I have seen, the deep end of the quiet pool appears to have been filled in with concrete and level with the center of the pool. I'm thinking that makes it a done deal. :confused3

I agree with you! I think they are just tidying up the bits, finishing off updating the plumbing and will be refilling the pool fairly soon. I wouldn't expect to see anything else major going on at this point (unless their project planners are exceptionally dull :confused3 ).

This makes me so sad. We just stayed at the Poly for the first time a couple of weeks ago. We loved it JUST the way it was. The GCH was perfect in our opinion. I guess I will stay tuned and see what's coming down the pipe, but I love the fact that it is an original resort and you can tell it is, KWIM?

Hi and thanks for the great thread! My husband and I recently decided to upgrade from CSR to the Poly for our September trip and couldn't be more excited :D We've been reading reviews (and are slowly working through the threads here!) and collecting tips and tricks for our stay. I think we're just going to request a balcony (will be nice to sit outside while the little ones sleep) and leave the rest to fate. We are really looking forward to the better transportation options (love the monorail!) since epcot and MK are our favorite parks and we do have small children.

Is the never land club a fun thing for little guys? We have a 1 and 4 year old and only the 4yo could go so we wouldn't be using it for adult only time (we'd keep the 1yo with us) but my 4yo loves peter pan so I was thinking it might be something fun for him to do with the crafts and I love the window entrance lol. But if its just solely babysitting and he might get bored we'll pass.

Also, this question is probably better posted on the restaurant board but are Mickey and Pluto regulars at the Ohana breakfast? The site lists Lilo and Stitch only but I've seen several pictures with Mickey and Pluto, too.

Thanks again! I'm sure I'll be stopping in from time to time as we count down, DH and I can't wait!! (haven't fully told DS 4 yet;) ).

Hi need some help with a random club level question....

I am trying to decide whether to make a grocery delivery or not. Given that we are staying club level - we really don't need much. My main sticking point is the water. The tap water in Fl scares me - so what is available in the club lounge. I know that they no longer give out water bottles - but will I be able to fill a glass with bottled water for drinking in my room at night?

Anybody have soem experience with this lately.

TIA
