Congratulations on 10 years married, SeaSpray! We are going in September to celebrate our 15th. Where did you get the cool anniversary pins?

They have them at the resort, just ask at check-in! I've also read that if your resort happens to run out of pins, you can go to Guest Services at any of the parks and ask for them. (They are complimentary). Congrats on your upcoming 15th! :sunny:

My dh and I celebrated our 10th anniversary on July 8, but didn't celebrate too much (we went to dinner with the kids in tow) because we are going to celebrate at Disney in Dec. I have been told by some that we shouldn't be celebrating that many days after the fact, but the whole trip is a celebration for us. Dd birthday is Nov 19, ds birthday is Nov 9, so we upgraded to CL TPV so we could celebrate it all.

We chose December to go due to dh's work calendar. IBM and having to get those darn chips out on time.

People are so funny! Why should they care when you celebrate?!! We are going to Disney August 28th and will be celebrating our wedding anniversary as well. We will have our 4 kids with us. Our actual "day" is August 10th, but we thought we would hold off a few weeks in hope of fewer crowds. We'll see....Anyway enjoy your trip...wear your pin...and don't worry about what other people say!

At least you are celebrating in the same month. The comments I have received were more of why are we celebrating 5 months after the fact? Also, another response is how can we really call it our anniversary after that amount of time has passed. I just mention dh's busy schedule of working on 3 chips at one time.

Thanks for the support!

Congrats to both of you, and your DHs! :bride: :groom: :bride: :groom:

We have gone on a Disney World vacation several times now, to celebrate our anniversary. Twice we were there on our actual anniversay day, but a few of other times we weren't. The trip itself is for our anniversary, so I don't think that it makes a real lot of difference whether you are there on your real anniversary date or not. :confused3

And just to keep this on topic for the Polynesian thread; on 4 out of 5 of these trips we stayed at the Polynesian! :sunny: We love this resort, and it's so romantic for an anniversary trip, with it's tiki torches burning at night, the view of the fireworks from the beach and volcano pool, etc.

Hey, our 10th is 8/12, but we're celebrating the last week of August! Go us! :woohoo:

Thanks so much - on both counts!

We celebrated our 10th anniversary at the PR 6 years ago! It was one of my most magical trips. We haven't been back to the PR since so we are looking forward to seeing the new changes since then on our upcoming August visit. The service we encountered on that visit was magical:) We met a couple on their honeymoon. It is a great family resort, but also very romantic at the same time:cloud9:

It sounds like the pool still has issues with overcrowding, but at least my youngest is now 9 so I don't have to watch her every move in the pool. On our last visit one afternoon when we could not find a seat of any sorts to sit in by the pool. My dh had no problem asking one of the lifeguards about the crowds. No sooner had he asked the lifeguard, did we see a lifeguard walking around checking resort id's, and sure enough a couple of families were asked to leave. Who knows this time around we may spend more time at the quiet pool!

Love hearing the reports!

Had to go to page 2 to find our thread...Just wanted to move us back to page 1! :thumbsup2

I'm always amazed at the things other people worry about. Our anniversary (and both of our birthdays) is in October. I have a major work project that is usually peaking in October, so it is a bad month to travel. We celebrated our 10th at the Polynesian in December 2008. This year, we will celebrate our 12th at the Poly in November. I called to book October dates with the Monster pin, was chatting with the CM about our celebration, but there was no availability (with the code) for half of our stay, so we booked November. The CM is the one who insisted that our anniversary celebration be added to the reservation. Disney practically begs you to tell them what you're celebrating!

Thanks, so much, for sharing your pics. Our family is planning to go and stay at the Poly in 2011. We went in 2009 to celebrate bdays and stayed in AKL and loved it, but would like to stay closer to the parks this time. Probably without the club level option. Would anyone be able to recommend a location in the Poly for a family with smaller children in terms of being close to the transportation but with less noise? Thanks!

We are on DME right now headed to the Poly. We waited about 15 minutes for the bus but so far so good. I hope check in goes just as smooth.

Love live updates! Thank you! And if you get a chance, will you let us know what time your flight arrived and what time you arrived at the Poly? Just curious on your timing :)

:confused3I have an off topic question for my fellow Poly lovers. I keep hearing about the lime green mickey that DISrs wear to the parks and hotel to tell if there are others out there. What exactly is it? Where do you get it? I would love to run in to some fellow DISrs while we are on vacation!

The lime green mickey heads signify you are a DISer. You can get these for free at the Home Depot because they are Disney's alien green (I THINK that's the color!) paint chip and it is in the form of a Mickey Mouse Head. What I did was take two and cut them out around the mickey shape then laminated them so each side is lime green. I put a mickey head grommet in them as well so I can hang this on my bag or keychain.

I love the quiet pool! But I love the volcano pool too and I like what your DH did. A simple question, but it got action. I'm keeping that in mind for our next trip!

In general, the farther away from the Great Ceremonial House and the Pools will be less noisy. But that is so relative because the Poly in general is a very peaceful resort. And something that might be slightly noisy during the day, will be peaceful at night (like a room that opens up to the pool area or hearing the boats at the TTC).

I keep forgetting - this time I will write it down.....

Does the Kona Island walk up sushi/coffe muffin place sell Kona Coffee in the morning ? Does Captain Cooks sell it? or do we have to go to the sit down restuarnt Kona?

Coffee bar and Kona have the Kona coffee. Captain Cook's sells the Nescrape.

Oh, interesting! Thanks for posting!

Has anyone eaten here? I tried the coffee drinks one time and they were so bad that I put the kabosh on going here but I never tried the sushi at night. So any reviews of the Poly's sushi bar?
You're welcome and I have had the Sushi there on multiple occasions and thought it was very good, so I will be going back there in a few weeks.

Just paid off my trip a few minutes ago and I had to tell somebody:banana::cool1: This will be our second stay at the Poly:woohoo: The end of August is taking FOREVER to get here ...I can't wait!!! I do have a question though. I know it probably belongs on the transprtation board but I love you guys:love: We have kids 10-6-2 and are flying southwest 8-20 returning 8-28. Do you guys think early bird check in is worth it?
