Thanks TinkerBelle! I'll allow for 30 minutes to get to Epcot to be safe.

Can anyone help me with the size of the safe? I'm trying to determine if we will be able to fit both my DS's laptop and my ipad.

Thanks!

No problem!

As far as the safe goes, we comfortable fit the following in it:
- my 13" MacBook
- 2 digital cameras
- 2 travel wallets
- 2 small jewelry bags

I would say it is 16-17 inches wide, about 10-12 inches deep and 4 inches high?

A laptop and iPad would fit fine.

Thanks again, TinkerBelle! My DS will be very happy! He's 19 and being without his laptop is almost unthinkable. Though, I told him he won't have internet access unless he wants to pay for it. Being a broke college kid, I doubt that will happen! ;) Although, I'm just really happy he still wants to go with us! :goodvibes We first took him when he was about 7 and he has been a Disney lover ever since!

I'm 25 and I can't imagine going anywhere without my laptop! And I do pay the $10/day for access lol. I've been going to WDW with my parents since I was 2 and we still go every year as a family, so I get the Disney lover from childhood thing.

You will love the Poly! If you aren't staying CL, I would highly recommend Fiji as a longhouse for the best "garden" views. If you look out on the one side you see a bit of the beach, luau cove and the GF, if you stay on the other marina side you get to see the marina and the volcano pool.

We're not staying CL, but all my family wants is to be close to the GCH/transportation, etc. So I was thinking of requesting Tokelau. Though, to be honest, I don't really know where Figi is. :confused3 We also like the idea of a little bit bigger room since the "kids" really aren't "kids" anymore. Have you ever stayed in that longhouse?

In almost exactly 24 hours we will arrive at the Poly!! Can't wait!

I can't believe it but 1 week from today my family will be at the Poly! This is our very first trip to WDW and our first time flying. I am so excited. I have learned so much from this thread, thanks. :)

We arrive 2 weeks from today! I can't wait!

I will be staying at hte Poly in 5 days!! Can't wait 7 nights in Disney heaven!!

Y'all have LOTS of fun!!! Tell us how your trips went when you get back.

I've stayed in Tokelau and really like it. I admit I've never stayed in another longhouse so while the rooms are a 'tad' bigger in Tokelau, they aren't much bigger. I've seen pictures of the other rooms and there is just not a huge amount of difference. I do like Tokelau though due to the location of the longhouse and no "bad" garden view. I've read so much about the other longhouses that I want to try another one but I'm also afraid that I won't like it as much so when I go in September, I'm requesting a patio room in Tokelau.

Since you like underwater, may I recommend the Kodak PlaySport? We LOVE ours! It's an underwater HD video camera that also takes still shots(5MP--decent quality). The video is amazing--way better than a Flip, imo.

Oh, thanks!!! I'll take a look at that one. We do lots of water activities so an underwater one would be awesome!!

Tinkerbellie...looks like we will be there same time! Be sure to wear a lime mickey so we can say HI!

We got so many comments on it at the waterparks and pool. It was great on the rainy days, too. I still need to upload the video, but it's so fun to have!

Hi everyone:

I finally got some pictures up on my website. Here's a link to the page: http://www.brownfamilyvacations.com/html/disney2010.htm It's not completed yet, and I'll add more tomorrow night. :surfweb:

Terry, I enjoyed your pics, it looks like you all were having a great time!
I especially liked the one of you and your DH in the Bride and Groom tee shirts.
Did you have them custom made or did you buy them at WDW? We are also celebrating an anniversary (30th) next week, and I might like to get one. Don't know if my DH would consent to wearing it, however...but I would! :)

Finally getting around to my Poly review. It's long so I'll break it up into several posts!

We were there July 3-11. When ME bus pulled up we went to the Bell stand--there's a sign there for CL guests to let them know you're there. They gave us each leis and called a Bellman and golf cart to take us to our room--we waited about 10 min. The bellman took us the long way back to the Hawaii building, showing us the bus stop, path to the TTC, quiet pool, and beach on the way. Our room was ready (it was about 3:00 at this time) and he took us straight up. The 2 cases of water were already there waiting. We dropped off ouor carry-on bags and then went back down to the 1st floor to officially check in with the CL CM. Erica was great--they had our packet ready and we were done in just a few minutes. She gave DH and I both our birthday pins and we were good to go!:thumbsup2
We had room 3520--a GV CL room on the quiet pool side of the Hawaii building--second to last room on the end on the 3rd floor(my only request was 3rd floor--we don't like people walking overhead!). The view was of a huge tree. It's ok---I paid for GV, but I was disappointed. I didn't ask to be moved or anything--it wasn't that big of a deal and I figured with the holiday weekend, they were probably booked.

The evening of the 3rd we headed in to MK to see the fireworks from Main St. I did note that they had roped off the entrance to the beach--right there on the corner of the Hawaii building--and put up a large tent from which they were selling food and drinks. The sign said the beach was reserved for Poly guests, but we didn't stay at the resort either the 3rd of 4th in the evening, so I don't know how much they enforced it. On July 4th we spent the morning at the pool--they handed out wristbands and asked us to keep our resort id's with us if we were going to be at the pool/beach that day and evening. The tent and rope were up when we left for Epcot, but they were down when we got 'home' that night, I think.

Breakfast in the lounge was pretty much the same every day. Muffins, croissants, oatmeal with dried fruit, fresh melon and grapes, whole fruits-apples, bananas, oranges, english muffins, cold cereals--fruit loops, raisin bran, rice krispies, and one other, cranberry and orange juice, skim and (I think) 2% milk and coffee/cocoa. If you wanted yogurt or chocolate milk you did have to ask. I knew that they didn't have real coffee in the lounge, but I really think that when we pay that much more, we should get real brewed coffee. That's just my opinion. It wouldn't have to be the expensive Kona--just regular, brewed coffee. The coffee machine had regular, decaf, cappucino, lattes, and mochas. There was cream and there was hot water and tea bags available as well.

The pool was great. I liked the hot tub-like jets in the one area--it was too hot for a hot tub anyway, and the water jets felt good on my tired legs and back. The chairs at the pool were almost always all taken, yet the pool wasn't packed. It was a little frustrating, but I wanted to be in the water so not a big deal. It would be nice if they had benches or someplace for those of us who just want to have a spot for our shoes and towel, but don't need a table/chair. It's a problem at pools everywhere I'm sure. The music playing underwater was a nice touch. The pool restrooms had a couple showers and some lockers (10 or so). Lockers were complimentary for resort guests-just take your kttw card to the boat rental place (Mikala) on the other side of the volcano. It was nice on check-out day since we had to check out at 1pm (late check-out) and didn't catch our ME bus until 3:45. We did leave our 2 wheel-on bags with Wes, a CL CM. They were too big for a locker.

Thanks so much for taking the time to post your review, good to hear the pool was not mobbed:thumbsup2 Reviews like this really help, I can not tell you how happy I am when I see a good looooooong review. Thanks again:hug::goodvibes:thumbsup2

We find the longhouses with larger rooms to have a more spacious feel..difference in size is 415 sq feet in all longhouses except Tokelau, Tahiti and Rapa Nui which are 476 sq ft, so it does make a difference especially when traveling with older children.:thumbsup2 For instance, the larger longhouses have 2 chairs with a small table (light stand really) in between, the other rooms have one. Tahiti and Rapa Nui have double sinks in the bathrooms (except HC rooms).

I'll never forget our first stay at the BC - we'd been staying at CR and Poly for over 10 yrs when the BC opened and we decided to give it a try - when we walked in the room we all chanted: "The room is so small". Those rooms are 380 sq ft, so we'd been spoiled; We never returned to the BC. ;)

I would definitely request one of the longhouses with larger rooms - then ask for your room location at check-in before your keys are made up, if not one of those three, see if they can find you a room in one. No worried about the floor as 1st have a patio and 2nd and 3rd both have balconies.:)

We are on DME right now headed to the Poly. We waited about 15 minutes for the bus but so far so good. I hope check in goes just as smooth.

:confused3I have an off topic question for my fellow Poly lovers. I keep hearing about the lime green mickey that DISrs wear to the parks and hotel to tell if there are others out there. What exactly is it? Where do you get it? I would love to run in to some fellow DISrs while we are on vacation!

Thanks! I haven't gotten a chance yet to add any more pics... hopefully this weekend. :surfweb:

It's kind of funny about those t-shirts... LOL... We bought them 10 years ago, ordered from some wedding supply web site, I think! We wore them ONCE, the night before our wedding, to the rehearsal dinner. They've been sitting in our dresser drawer all of these years. I decided that if we don't wear them on the exact day of our 10th anniversary, then chances were good that we might not ever wear them again. LOL I washed them to freshen them up, and they still looked brand new. :bride: :groom:

We did have on the "Anniversary" pins that day, and almost everyone wished us a Happy Anniversary, but a couple of people did say "Congratulations!" because they probably read the t-shirts. Also, if you notice the white headband that I wore that day (actually, we only wore the t-shirts and I wore the headband, for only a few hours! We put them on the morning of our anniversary to go to breakfast at the Crystal Palace, then walking around the MK for an hour or so),anyway...the white headband is what my bridal veil was attached to. The bridal shop purposely made the veil easily removable so that I could wear the headband afterwards :bride: I know it sounds a little corny, but hey, it was our actual anniversary day, and you can never be too corny in Disney World. :rolleyes1 :lmao:

P.S. CONGRATS on your 30th!! :bride: :groom: I wonder if any bridal shops near you might sell those t-shirts???

Woo hoo! I hope you're having a great time!! :sunny:

They are actually paint chips in the shape of a Mickey head that can be found in the paint department of Home Depot!

When we arrived at the Poly today on DME, a CM was there to greet us and took us immediately to our room CL. I was pleased with the service. I haven't looked at the room too closely yet, but it looked nice and clean. So far....so good....now for a bite to eat.
