Our kids really enjoyed the sea racers. Your two oldest would be able to drive themselves, although according to the tikiman website they would have to have a licensed driver as a passenger. If you booked a package you should have received a coupon towards a rental with your travel documents.

So glad you were able to change your flight. Have fun re-planning!

I'm excited today because I did a little looking through old posts over on the discount board and discovered that even if you don't get a flier in your room there is generally always a bounceback offered (call extension 8844!). I mentioned it to DH this morning and he agreed that if there is a good discount offered while we're there we should book not only a family trip at the Poly for 2011, but also a 10th anniversary trip for the two of us! We've already discussed the anniversary trip & would like to try GF CL TPV and a good bounce back would go a long way to making that happen!

Thanks for the great tip about the bounce-back and, yep, love the planning - makes the trip seem closer. :woohoo: Sending tons of wishes for what sounds like could be a Poly-filled 2011 for you and your family! :sunny:

I'm thinking that we will need a "Plan B" for days that it's too hot to stay in the parks and we may want to return to the room/resort early. Has anyone ordered room service for lunch? Was the quality good? How quickly was it delivered?!

TIA!

We didn't order room service, but got take out from CC's instead. We just swung by there when we got back to the Poly & took it back to our room with us. Cheaper than room service! And the turkey club & noodle bowl were quite good! :thumbsup2

Yes, I hope the info I found on the bounce back is correct! And thanks for the good wishes!

Does anyone know who usually streams the fireworks live and if they are at the Poly right now?

I'm one of the usual streamers but I do it from which ever resorts I'm staying at. Right now 3 people are down there streaming but none from the Poly there is one from OKW one from AK and one from Saratoga Springs. And one of them did do a live stream tonight from the MK of the fireworks.

We will be staying in a GV room for 6 nights, then we will move to a TP view on our last night (premium plan for final night.) Any chance we could get some pixie dust & be upgraded to a TP view for the entire 6 nights at the beginning of our trip? :rolleyes1 (It seems I used to read about people always getting bumped up at the Poly!) TIA!

i have hesitated posting this on this thread because it seems so random, but here goes! :confused3 for all you die-hard poly fans, i was at big lots yesterday and they had some awesome tiki merchandise. my favorite was a big outdoor solar tiki guy with light-up eyes. i did not buy anything since we have not stayed there yet so technically i don't know if we're fans :rolleyes1 but if i were a poly fan i would have loved to have some of this stuff for my patio and garden. just a heads-up. hope it's not too off-topic. :flower3:

No WiFi at the Poly unless your lucky enough to be near someone who is paying for internet service and has hooked up a wireless router.

My other half was saying that maybe we should buy a router and just pay for the net in the room. Maybe this is a better option instead?

Be very careful about doing this. Make sure you read their network/ computer use policy, to verify that this is not prohibited. (This is usually the agreement that you click on when setting up the connection, in addition to agreeing to the daily charge.)

Most networks set up like that will not allow their network to be used in that way. (Potentially, you could open it up to allow others to join your connection for free, if not created securely. Even if done unknowingly. There's just no other way to regulate and monitor usage if they allowed everyone to do this.) :surfweb:

I work in I.T. for a University. We are very strict about that. If we detect this was being done, we terminate their connection, and issue warnings to them, if not a penalty.

Personally, not sure why they haven't added wifi technology yet - even if it is only accessible from certain areas of each resort, when most non-disney hotels and resorts have this? I think that the contemporary at least has wifi in their lobby, why wouldn't they add this to all resorts? :confused3

So I was missing The Poly this morning and was thinking about beautiful Poly mornings with yummy Tonga Toast. So I decided to make my own version with what I had here on hand (all I was really missing was some thick-sliced bread). I used (gasp!) Wonder Bread and made a batch of something that tasted so realy that I actually felt for a moment like I was sitting outside Cook's being harassed by the ducks. :rotfl2:

Yum!!! :woohoo:

Does anyone have information about the Eat Pool closing for a refurb?

I saw a mention of it on Tikiman's site, something about the closure being bumped back from Aug and about creating a zero entry?

Any more info? We are going Sept 3rd - 10th and I would think the volcano pool will be mega crowded if the East Pool is closed :scared:

Unless it has changed since we were there this past April, the minimum age to drive a sea racer is 15 and no licensed driver is needed as a passenger. Our DS was 15 when we were there in April, and he and I each took one out for about an hour.

There is a shallow end but it is not zero entry. I can't recall the exact depth (3-4 feet?) but our 6 year old at the time used a life jacket in it.:)

Hmmm, maybe Steve's info is outdated?
Sea Racer All kids must be with a licensed driver and you must be 12 years old and 5' tall to operate it with a licensed driver as a passenger. 2 passengers (320 lbs. max)
:confused3
Thanks for the update! I would think if you were just there in April that your info is probably what is current

Thanx :)

If we did take this route we would secure it.

I am the same too, what with all the gadgets and gizmos out today you would think they would offer WiFi to resort guests.

The Orlando Sentinel today has an article on how great it is to watch the July 4th fireworks from the Poly beaches WITHOUT HAVING TO PAY PARK ADMISSION, & especially for seasonal FLA passholders who might be blacked out of the MK for the holiday.

Sooner or later, the POLY is going to have to limit this practice so the paying POLY guests can better enjoy this experience at THEIR resort.
