hmmm...... "...so I'm goin' to a huki-huki-huki-huki-lau!!"

Ok! That works for me! :goodvibes

I listen to hawaiian music often on LIVE365 (when NOT listening to Disney stations) so just about anything will be ok for me ..... mahalo! :flower3:

Yes, there is no doubt the money was in her wallet when it was placed back into her purse and the purse placed into her carry-on bag. Prior to placing the wallet into her purse and the purse into the carry-on, she opened her wallet, checked her cash, removed her ID, room key, and pass. The cash was left in her wallet. The ID, room key, and pass were placed in her camera case. The wallet remained in her purse and the purse in the carry-on until we returned home.

At the airport the carry-on (containing purse/wallet) never left her sight other than through security. It was unopened. The money was missing when she unpacked her carry-on at home and placed birthday money in her wallet. We didn't discover the missing money until that time.

I realize notifying the resort of the "theft" is a serious accusation. We have been staying CL for years and have never had a problem. I had total faith and trust in our CMs in Hawaii. Honestly, given the scenario, we have no other rational explanation for the missing money. :confused3

I appreciate your thoughts on the matter and wouldn't dream of flinging unwarranted accusations as serious as theft. Conversely, how do I know there isn't an ongoing issue and our bit of information might help resolve a problem. It really is a double-edged sword and I would not want anyone unjustly accused.

Thanks again for giving more food for thought.

Then if you're absolutely positive by all means you should report it - just asking because our with our DD18 she might think the money went missing from the hotel only to discover it in another bag or at home on her dresser or remember spending it at the airport ... It amazes me that hotel staff (and I've read threads about even laptops missing from other resorts) could be so brazen as to steal from guests, nevermind rifling through baggage looking for valuables. I guess they know that unless they are caught red-handed it's pretty hard to proove it was them. It's especially surprising in the CL building with the extra staff floating around.

.

That said, this year the crowds around the Polynesian were huge. I am not kidding when I say that each and every lounge chair, swing, hammock, and a good bit of sidewalk space was occupied. My advice is to go to the dock and watch from there. (The lounge is always an option if staying club level.) We found for the most part that it was deserted until near in time to the show. There is a speaker on the right side of the dock facing MK and the sound is good.

I am shocked! When we were there, it wasn't crowded for the fireworks at all! Wow! Glad we were there in May.

In all of our visits we noticed that the parks become more crowded right at 11:00 a.m., for whatever reason. We are usually headed from the parks around that time or off to EPCOT for lunch or to avoid the crowds at the other three parks. When we are attempting to leave between 11-12 noon, it is like salmon swimming upstream. This year, however, rope drops were more crowded than I have seen in many years--if ever.

Another shocker!!! Usually, if you get to rope drop by 8:30 everything is good! Holy cow! I wonder if people are getting wiser;) Was hoping to keep rope drop a secret!

All in all, those two rides took us until around 10:30 a.m. Yeah, you don't want to know about MK or AK. . .:sad2: My advice, go early and get out early, especially if the heat persists in Florida.

I think next time we will utilize early EMHs...we get up early anyway!

The beach/volcano pool area was crowded each and every day, except for the TWO (yes, I said TWO) closures due to kids pooping in the pool. The initial closure was a full 24 hours. It began early on our arrival day and ended early the next a.m. If you saw my pictures on Photobucket, you saw the empty volcano pool early on in the series. Why for the love of all things aquatic can parents not adhere to the swimmy diaper rule? The first closure created a huge overcapacity in the quiet pool. That was also shown in my pictures.

:sad2: Parents never cease to amaze me!!! Is it that hard to use a pull up OR take your child to the restroom? I have 2 small ones....I know! I was totally shocked by the number of people in the Quiet Pool after looking at your pics. OMG!!! Not so quiet, huh.

It appeared to me that there were a good many more loungers on the beach than in years past. They were usually full, but there were a good number of them. As always, the volcano pool/beach area was packed--oftentimes even in the early morning hours (prior to 10 a.m.) and all day.

This was my only BIG complaint with the Poly....the over crowded pool and beach area...no lounge chairs/tables etc.

*SIDE NOTE*--This evening in particular, the club level piggies were out--no I don't mean food consumption. Large groups of people descended upon the lounge wearing wet swimwear and no shoes thereby soaking seats for later guests to enjoy while they were fully dressed for the evening. I won't even get into the boorish behavior of leaving the dishes, cutlery, drink containers, etc. scattered all over the tables. :headache: This really chaps me no end. I really don't care about the swimsuits BUT put your shoes on and be dry first!

Really??!!! Some people don't get it! I guess some people assume since they are paying for CL, CMs should have to pick up their dirty dishes...:

Desserts: The various types of mousse offered (caramel, chocolate, strawberry) were really nice. The brownies nothing special and the tarts fairly uninspired. The dessert offerings were minimal with only three types available each night. This is no change from last year when things were being cut all around the concierge levels. Probably encouraging more folks to book dessert party reservations. ;)

We weren't overly impressed with the desserts, either!

Great TR and great pictures!!!! Thanks for the info!

Tess, thanks for all the pictures and info. I can hardly wait for our trip! I do hope the crowds will thin out just a little in the first half of August.

I've got the pictures up and captioned--finally! Photobucket was being a pain in the rump yesterday--seems better today.

Anyway--I hope to give you the scoop on our adventure, the menu changes in concierge, etc. this p.m. Until then, here's a link to my Disney 2010 album on Photobucket: Tess Disney Pics 2010 . :cool1:

If you click the link and get a "Bad Request" message--just refresh and it should pop up. As I said--Photobucket is acting way hinky.

Great slideshow! It has us counting the days until we are there in August.:)

OK--3 days out and I am terribly worried about the crowds on the Poly beach and at the pool. We know a holiday weekend will be crowded, but were hoping to enjoy both. I will be irritated if it's crazy crowded. A little part of me wants to switch to BC or YC now. I'm sure it's just pre-trip worries.

Great TR and great pictures!!!! Thanks for the info!

Glad you enjoyed it Heather.

I'm not sure what ticked me off more--all the dirty dishes or getting my evening outfit soaking wet on the seat because someone couldn't be troubled to dry themselves. The wet seats encompassed the entire third floor seating array.

I know the Poly rooms are bigger than some of the other Disney deluxe rooms, but can anyone tell me is it at all possible to have 4 adults and one junior in one room?

I don't want to break any rules, and as far as I've heard you can have 5 people in a room if one is in a crib, but I am guessing 4 adults and a junior would need two rooms, right?

Nope, you should be good with one room. The room capacity at Poly is 5: 2 queen size beds + the daybed. :thumbsup2

I'm sure BC or YC would be just as crowded over a holiday weekend. I always get pre-trip worries, too. When you've invested a lot of time planning a wonderful vacation you can't help but worry about things sometimes. Just relax and enjoy your vacation. Then when you come back, post the details so I can begin my own pre-trip worries and you can talk me down.:lmao:

Have a magical vacation!

Not sure if this has been asked... but I am just wondering.

I stayed here a very long time ago for just one night. When we checked in, they greeted each of us with Lei's. Do they still do this at check in?

I'm glad to hear it--you all seemed to be enjoying yourselves. I hope next time you can get your daughter on a plane--flying makes for a quicker trip! ;) Wasn't the weather fantastic! The only reason I'm not pining away is because Ron and I will be back in 92 days! While we won't be staying at the Polynesian, we will more than likely stop by for a visit. No poolhopping though. :lmao: The time sure does fly when you are on vacation. . .

I'll go back a few days and search your mini review. How did you like the new music?

We really did enjoy ourselves! Looks like everyone in your family was doing the same too. Said hello to your husband most everyday in the CL lounge. I miss going down there getting the day started in the mornings! Oh well we"ll just have to plan for another time hopefully next year.

The weather was great. The first 3 days we had thunderstorms and the rest of the time it was clear.

I do hope we all can fly next time! I dont mind driving but if we can get there a little quicker thats more time we'll have in the World! I hope you all have fun on your trip back down!

Yes, leis are given when you arrive or check-in. If it is somehow missed, just ask for one.

Thanks--I know that, but it's just one of my pre-trip anxieties. I emailed the Poly IPO about ID checks at the pool. I was told that they don't do them until the pool reached capacity(I don't know what that is, though). I even went to so far as to check online--there are still most room categories available at Poly, but noe at YC/BC. So we'll stay put and I'll try not to invite trouble by worrying about that which I cannot change. ohmmmmmmm.....ohmmmmmmm...ohmmmmmmm

Okay all, I am leaving tomorrow for the weekend at the Poly and I am totally psyched!! I have a GV booked but I am going back and forth with the idea of changing to a LV room ($$)for the fireworks watching, etc. Please help me make up my mind!! Thanks.

I would just go down to the beach and watch from there - the view was amazing of the fireworks - you really get the whole surround! So many other things to spend money on at WDW ;)

Have a wonderful trip!

It really depends if it's in your budget & you're comfortable with the higher price. We had a TPV room last October and we LOVED it! Almost every night we enjoyed the EPW & fireworks from the comfort of our balcony, while the kids were already in their pj's and winding down for the night. :cloud9:

I feel the same way. I was very excited for our trip, but to be honest, Tess' report kind of bummed me out! (sorry, Tess, I don't mean to pick on you!) This would be our first ever stay at CL, but now I'm not sure it's worth the extra $$ - doesn't sound like the food is up to par. The other things we liked about the Poly are the fireworks at the beach and the volcano pool, but don't really want to deal with unreasonable crowds.

So, now I'm considering changing to two rooms at CBR for our entire trip. It would save us some cash, we'd do DDP for the entire trip (instead of just the first three days at POR).

I think I really need to just stay off the boards for a while...
