We leave later tonight, I'm just packing the suburban while the kids are at school. DH just went to the dump with any last minute garbage. MIL staying with kids, and I can't count on the 17yr old to go to the dump..until reminded by Nana. Kids still don't know, and I've e-mailed IPO so many times, that I'm sure they will be glad when we are finally there.:lmao: DD will be 6 on Sat. and we are doing CRT for breakie, with Choc slippers and Norway princess dinner with cake. We will get to Orlando on Wed and do some outlet shopping before arrriving at the Poly on Thurs. we had snow yesterday, so am looking forwarding to the hot weather.
Thanks to all for advice, etc, will let you know how it all goes.

Have a great trip momtolots! Though I'm amazed that you can get away without taking the older kiddos. Our DD18 would be ticked if we went without her!

Snow!?!?!? Yikes!:scared:
I am glad you are escaping that. Here in Charleston we are already at 90 degrees with 150% humidity.:headache: You are definitely going to like the Florida weather.
Have a great trip! Can't wait to hear your report when you return!:thumbsup2

THANK YOU so much for your post! While we have never stayed at the Poly, it is my favorite resort to visit and I cannot WAIT until next Saturday when we arrive to the Poly. Reading your message was very reassuring since my hubbie was whining a "little" the other night about not staying at the Beach Club. We stayed there last year and even though I loved it, I begged for the Poly this year.:cloud9: I know I will love staying at the Poly and after reading your post, I am SURE he will too!

You will love it there:love: The Poly is like a tropical vacation while you are at WDW. It a 2-fer!!! HA! The BC/YC are lovely resorts but the Poly just has that something extra. Maybe it is because living in WI, I long for the tropics on vacation or because the atmosphere is so welcoming and laid back. Everything there feels easy....and the location across from MK combined with the beautiful theming gives it a magical feel.

Have a fab-u-lous vacation:wizard: Just remember to enjoy every moment and don't sweat the small stuff that is less than magical.

Hey Poly experts!
I know I've seen somewhere a map showing where the rooms are in the longhouses?

It's not a map of the resort showing where the building are, but a map showing where the rooms are.

Can anyone help??

Thanks!!!!

:3dglasses
My DH wanted me to put that!

Tikiman has that on his pages at http://www.tikiman2001.net/tiki/index.php

I hope the link works. The DIS sometimes doesn't allow him to be mentioned for some reason or another.

Edit: Oh good. It worked! Look under a particular longhouse and then there is a small icon that says "floor plan". Hope that helps!

Thanks everyone for the responses on my check-in question! I will let everyone know what my experience is when I return! :cutie:

New questions now... We have several breakfast ADR's and since I have never stayed at the Poly, I was hoping for an ETA requirement for the following:

8:05 AM Crystal Palace - What time should we be at monorail station and which one Resort or TTC?
8:10 AM Akershus - What time should we be at the TTC monorail?
8:00 AM Tuskar House - What time should we catch the bus?

We will have our car but prefer to use Disney transportation (except to DTD, that was a nightmare last year :scared1:).

Thanks!

oh and Happy Travels to Mom to lots! Have a GREAT time!

:woohoo:

We had an 8:05 CRT ADR last time we were at the Poly. We were at the Poly monorail stop around 7:20. We got to MK around 7:40.

Can't help on the Epcot ADR.

I would drive to AK.

Just booked my first trip to the Poly and can't wait, I'm soooo excited. I don't know what I'm going to do with myself until I get there.

I have already booked my trip to the Poly for my first trip Sept. 27-Oct. 3. I did not make a room or longhouse request and really think I would like a patio close to the GCH. Should I call back and make a request or just hope for the best???

I'd make a request, you have nothing to loose by doing so. :thumbsup2

Dumb question and I apologize as I'm sure it is somewhere in this thread, but Who do I call to put a request in for a longhouse? Last time we had our TA do it, but this time I booked through Disney and wasn't sure who I should call - The Poly? The main reservation #? Also, we are only 5 days away....is that too late to put in a request? TIA!

Sara,

You would call the Disney reservation line make your request. You are 5 days out it's not too late. Did you know you can do your online check-in now? You just go to Disney website and look for my itinerary, then click on check in online enter you reservation number and last name then click check in. When you get to hotel your package for checking in will already be there waiting! Have fun!

For all those dreaming about Dole Whips I thought I post this...

Can't believe we completely missed out on our first stay at the Poly - that will never happen again! :lovestruc

Anyone know if the Poly provides pool towels at both the volcano and quiet pools. Thanks in advance for the info.

Yes, towels are located at both pools. At the quiet pool they are in a cabinet by the bathhouse. At the volcano pool, near the hair wrap station by the pool bar.

Has anyone been to Poly for the holidays? Thinking of going for a long weekend in Dec............

I have! :goodvibes I really love the Polynesian's 'cultural' interpretation of Christmas. Lots of wreaths made of raffia accented with orchids..Hawaiian Christmas music playing through the resort...and the gingerbread houses they had out were really creative.

The resort was at capacity but it didn't feel like it unless you went to the GCH during peak dining periods.
