ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Fall 2010 Edition

I'm just catching up on my DIS after being away from the computer for the better part of 6 days. I really hope that you can manage to book a room (preferably between Nov. 28 & Dec 5 ... :rolleyes1) I need to give you a big hug.

That is what I am aiming for my friend. I check like 15 times a day and have my TA working on it. ;) I am hoping to hear back from her soon.

I hope I can join here!
After much debate and discussion we have booked 2 CL rooms at the Poly for marathon weekend! It'll be me, DH, 3 little ones (6, 4, 2), and my parents. We originally booked a 2 bedroom at BLT but it wasn't eligible for the new discounts. 2 CL rooms at Poly saved us $300! This will be my 1st half marathon effort and I'm nervous and excited.
We're becoming experienced Disney addicts but have never stayed CL. Please tell me we made the right decision!!!! :flower3: We stayed in a standard room at the Poly in 2008 for our 1st Disney trip (I had been to Disney as a child but that was before Epcot was built and we never stayed on property). I didn't do much research for that trip but we enjoyed the Poly.
I'm excited to learn anything and everything for the Poly experts here!!!

Thanks for the info on Wishes gang, much appreciated :) I actually went looking on the Disney site last night, and couldn't find the schedule, my apologies if I was just overlooking it.

Aloha friends :flower3:

guitarob, the thread is awesome. You have done such a excellent job! It is also great that you are going soon so you can get updated info and new pictures :worship: . Thank you so much for continuing the best thread on the DIS :thumbsup2

It is nice to see so many new poly lovers on the thread. I have not been frequenting the board lately so I know I have missed some trip reports/reviews and plan on going back and reading each page. I hope you all had great stays and I am looking forward to catching up.

Sadly, we have had a horrific summer and I am debating a trip in the fall or early December. After I got cleared and was on the mend from my medical issues my Mom got diagnosed on June 28th with lung cancer that had already spread through her body. We lost her last Sunday just 6 weeks after her diagnosis. My Mom and I were really close as was my Breezy :sad1: So, we need some Poly therapy along with Disney magic...and soon!

I am waiting to see about these alleged discounts that are supposed to come out tomorrow for fall and 2011 before I make my final decision but I am definitely booking a trip to Disney tomorrow regardless if it is for October or December or adjusting our March trip to earlier dates. I am sure planning and looking forward to a trip to the Poly will be good therapy for all of us. My Dad, even expressed a remote interest in joining us. I would love to take my Dad to Disney World and the Poly! I know he would love the holiday decor if we went in early December which would coincide with Mom's b-day so I am aiming for early December if possible.

Sorry to be a bit of a downer... I have missed this thread and all my Poly peeps. I look forward to be more active posting and planning again! :grouphug:

BreezysMom: I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your mom. And it came so quick, it must be devastating. :sad2:  I agree that a trip to WDW can be good therapy. My "therapy" trip was just last month and I felt so good while there, and since then, too. I hope that your trip brings you some smiles and good times.

Due to an illness I spent a week in the hospital in July rather than at the YC for our planned vacation :sad1:

I'm finally feeling some better so we're planning a short weekend trip to WDW before my DS starts school. The YC/BC was booked for our dates but the Poly opened up when I called today :goodvibes

The only request I have so far is a balcony. I really need to rest and relax on this trip so a quiet location is important. Also if there is a location that is not a long walk that would also help. We plan on only using the quiet pool if that makes a difference.

Any ideas on room requests or not to miss on our 1st trip to the Poly??? We've always wanted to stay at the Poly but never have so this is the silver lining from our cancelled trip :goodvibes

Tokelau would be a good choice. It is located at the east end of the quiet pool, close to the bus stop, and a short walk to the GCH. It is also closer to the pathway to TTC without being at the outer edge of the resort.

Fingers crossed then! :) Although your poor TA is probably thinking "OMG, here she goes again!" :rotfl:

I'm so excited! In 15 days I will be arriving at the Polynesian :) for our 2nd stay in Club Level!

Thought I would share some pics from our last stay! :goodvibes

What great pictures! Looks like our last 2 stays have been in the room next to the one you stayed in last year! So the view definitely has me in a reminiscing mood... :cloud9:

1 more month! I can't stand it!!! :yay:

The wait for us is almost over, we leave tomorrow!!!!! So excited! Something kind of weird happened yesterday though. I got an email requesting that I provide all of my information again in order to add my room request to my reservation.
So.....I called and went through the step to speak with a CM and he said that my room was most likely already assigned but he would add my request any way since I called. I have never heard of getting a room assigned 2 days before arrival. For the sake of efficiency, don't hotels assign you a room based on availabiltiy at the time of arrival? Maybe it's a Disney thing? I am not putting too much into it since last time we stayed at Disney in AKL, we made a request at check in that was available and they honored it. I don't know, it just kind of threw me off since I have never had a hotel associate say that to me before.
Oh well, either way we will be there tomorrow!!!!! Yay!!!

From what I understand, Disney typically assigns your room 3 days before your arrival.

I know what you mean. Haha it definitely moves slower in the last few weeks of pregnancy! :lmao: It's like time stops completely.

I was thinking the same thing. 31 days to go for us. I'm sure it will go quickly with school starting in a few days, but I just want to pack and go already! ;)
