ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Fall 2010 Edition

Just a few questions about the laundry rooms. What do they cost and do they have a change machine? (also do they sell detergent or do I need to bring my own?). Thanks!!

I was loving all the tikis I saw around the resort so I took several shots

These were all in the Hawaii building

Continuing to count down here...

The pic of the bicycles got me thinking is there any central location that anyone knows of that shows the cost of all these extras?

Fishing, SeaRay, Mini-Golf, etc.?

Thanks...

Fireworks from the beach!
These were from my son's cheap-o camera, since I forgot to use my own.

My husband and I will have a date night with kids in Neverland Club during our trip, Which restaurant should we have a date night at? Which is most romantic-prob not flying fish, I just thought walk around Boardwalk afterward!
Any suggestions would be appreciated... THX;)

For a date night you can't go wrong with the California Grill. It's where we do our anniversary dinners and we absolutely love it.

I can only tell you that we were very underwhelmed with Narcoossee's. I had heard good and bad, but it's been on my list for a few trips and has always gotten canceled. Wish we'd canceled this trip! For 4 of us, our bill came to over $400! It was NOT a $400 meal. Or even $200, in my opinion. We had the dining plan, so didn't pay that much--just the portion for our wine, which was excellent.

It wasn't all bad, though. The Key Lime creme brulee dessert was delicious, as was the crab cake appetizer DS and I shared. The service was great and the atmosphere was relaxing--although they don't enforce their own dress code, which makes me wonder why they bother? My son was the only one at our table who truly enjoyed his entree, however. Maybe we just were there on a bad night?

ETA--Citrico's is on the list for our next trip. I've heard great things. I really like how the GF restaurants are all so easy to get to/from when staying at the Poly.

THX for your help! That narrows it down a bit!!;)

Go to the tikiman website. Click on Amenities and then select Activities, the "pay activities" are listed on pg.3.

Gratuitous post. Wanted to celebrate my 1000th post in my favorite thread!
Congratulations!!! :cool1:

I actually have a few pictures to share. On our Feb trip DD and I wanted to explore a bit at the Poly but we were there during one of the many cold spells this past winter. We didn't spend much time outside at all.

But inside it was warm and tropical. :goodvibes

AGREE I think we might even go 2x in Oct. I LOVE LOVE LOVE California Grill!

Just trying to bump my ? so it doesn't get buried

We want to catch the torch lighting ceremony how long does it last?

We have a 640 pm ressie at Whispering Canyon Cafe. We have a car so we can get there pretty quick if I recall, driving but would we have time to go via boat.

Our plan is leave from the poly (DM and dd's are spening the night here) - to WL for dinner and to BLT TOWL (dh and I only solo night  at BLT) and take the kids and DM back to poly via monorail after, enjoy a few lapu lapu's and head back to BLT for the night via the monorail. It is a MNSSHP night so the monorail goes until 12 am right? if so that rocks !!! I love the not needing to drive. And that will help with the loopy feeling I will get from the lapu lapu ;)

Any advice?

We are thinkin of requesting the Tokelau longhouse.

We are a family of 4. (WIth a 6 and 2 year old). Would this be a good place to request? We are going to request a bottom floor that way they can play right outside the door.

Or any other BETTER ;) Suggestions?

Loving all the pics! As much as you loved the Tikis did you bring one home? I went to Hawaii in 2006 and brought one home, he is in my DS room now..DO you have any pics of the inside of the Hawaii building?

Glad to hear there seems to be plenty of Poly merchandise, I plan on getting plenty of it, note pads and to go coffee mug at the top of the list and have you seen the prints other DIsers have talked about the ones with Mickey and Minnie at the beach, wondering how much those are?

Hello Poly experts- I am so excited- our annual fall (Sept) Disney trip (myself, Husband, almost 4 yo daughter and MIL) has been upgraded to a POLY trip! We LOVE all things WDW EXCEPT the terrible coffee. I understand that the Kona coffee is great and I am quite happy to hear about that! Last year we brewed our own in the room (at CSR) to avoid the Disney brew. My question: is there a coffee shop or stand or QS area where we can get a cup of the good stuff? Or is it only served in the sit down restaurant at the resort (Kona). We already have our ADRs set, and those do not include daily breakfast at Kona, but our plans DO include a daily cup of coffee:)
Any coffee words of wisdom from you POLY experts? Thanks!

Yes there is Kona Isle Coffee Bar that has Kona Coffee and pastires in the morning and the afternoon turns into a sushi bar! We will be at the Poly in Sept as well!
