Thanks. Did you enjoy everything? I think it sounds like so much fun. What was the food like, esp. the dessert?
Honestly?
Meh.
It was okay. I have to agree with the others that said the show is a little hokey, it's more like dinner theatre than a luau if that makes sense. When we went (way back when) I remember it being centered more around the dances and cultures of the Polynesian islands. This time it was just kind of...cheesy.
The food was good, not great and certainly not bad. For beginners we had a wonderful salad, a spear of fresh pineapple and two small loaves of coconut-pineapple bread (at least I think that's what it was). It was all very good. Our entree consisted of three or four roasted chicken leg quarters, rice and five or six bbq'ed ribs. It was good, nothing outstanding--we've had similar at home. Dessert was a chocolatey sponge cake with chocolate mousse and a raspberry/mango sauce that is (somewhat) volcano shaped. Again, it was good, but certainly not outstanding.
My DH was the one who really wanted to do the luau. When I told him how much it cost us (close to $180) he nearly died! We both agreed it wasn't really worth it and we could've left the kids at one of the kids' clubs and gone out somewhere nice for the same price. We won't be doing it again anytime soon. Or later.

But we don't regret going.
That being said, don't be discouraged. If you go, you'll have a fun time and a good dinner. And our pictures turned out great!
