From Disneyland's official Twitter:

Beginning Dec. 11, the character breakfast at Disney's PCH Grill will change to “Surf’s Up! Breakfast with Mickey & Friends.”

New breakfast buffet will include flatbreads from a wood burning oven & signature chilaquiles with shredded beef, salsa verde & queso fresco.

I'm kind of disappointed with this news.

Oh No! :sad2::sad1:

My odd's favorite character of all time is Stitch. We go there every trip. I don't think I'll tell her, I can hope she doesn't notice on our next trip that we don't eat with Stitch. On a positive note it sounds like there will be a character meal with Mickey.

That's DBF's favorite and I don't want to tell him either. :( !!

I'm thinking because it says "with friends" and it's still a Hawaiian theme, they may still have Lilo and Stitch, but not as the main characters.

We have PS's there next Friday. I'm going to call Disney Dining to make sure they're still on and the restaurant won't close down for a little refurb before the 11th.

We were there on Veteran's day and the place was empty so I can't say I'm surprised. I wish they would do a non buffet meal though. Ariel's is my favorite but with 2 boys that doesn't go over so well.

MY kids love Lilo and Stich!! It was our favorite Character Meal. We were planning on going for my daughter birthday on the 17!! What a huge disappointment!!!!

I've got a reservation there for the 23rd of December! So bummed, I wanted to meet Stitch! :sad2:

We really enjoyed our meal there in March.....loved the interaction with Lilo & Stitch....but it really was dead (and we were there during some of the Spring Breaks). The food at this restaurant is very good....but the buffet wasn't the best. Some highlights on the buffet but ordering off the menu would have been better.

Woo Hoo for Disneyland bringing back Mickey to a character meal. I'm glad to see that, but really hope they keep Lilo & Stitch & the Hawaiian theme going. We also thought FINALLY getting to see Daisy Duck was the bomb!!! So I hope they keep her around as well.

For those that have never eaten dinner at the PCH Grill......it's worth the walk over to the Paradise Pier Hotel to eat there. Huge portions, excellent food & the kids can make their own pizza.......lots of fun.

At PCH, you have a choice of Menu or buffet, but when it comes down to it, the buffet seems to be the better choice money-wise. It comes with beverages (soda, juice, etc.), whereas choosing from the menu does not. And I think most of the things on the menu are located on the buffet anyways, or maybe that's just Storyteller's.... Anyways, the menu option does exist there, but who knows with the "new" meal.

Shredded beef? Flatbreads and salsa? For breakfast? Am I missing something?eww Mickey yay but beef? Eww where is this news from? :confused3

:sad2: I LOVED the L&S buffet, and have eaten there once on every multi-day trip for a long time. I'm glad they'll have Mickey there now, but I hope they keep Lilo & Stitch, and the Hawaiian theme.

Chilaquiles is traditionally a breakfast dish (sometimes served with fried eggs), but I don't know about shredded beef?

Well right now they have salmon for breakfast at PCH Grill and it's soooo good!

I had not yet made it to the Lilo & Stitch breakfast (though that would have been a better option than my last trip to Storytellers) so I won't miss it, per se, but I think Disney is actually making a wise business move by putting something with Mickey at PPH. For years prior to the Captain Mickey meal in DCA, there was not much in the way of Mickey to be found at character meals at DLR. And since Captain Mickey left, there has been a clamoring for the Mouse. PPH, as we know, tends to be the 'red-headed stepchild' of the 3 DLR hotels because it is across the street from the main hub of activity and the hotel itself is not as impressive in certain ways as the other two hotels are. Many folks just don't even want to take the time to walk over to the PPH, let alone eat there or sleep there. Sticking a character meal with Mickey at the PPH is certain to lure in many people who will now have a 'reason' to go there, and it will give the PPH a big surge in business, I would bet. Now, if people want to dine with Mickey they have to go to the PPH. And DLR is implementing this just in time for the big wave of attendance right before and right after Christmas, so they know exactly what they are doing! I would bet that Lilo and Stitch will still pop up here and there.

Now...what are they going to do with Yamabuki's old space?

I have to agree with this. Lilo and Stitch has never been a draw for me. I do hope they continue to feature them in addition to Mickey for all the Lilo and Stitch lovers out there. :goodvibes But, Mickey being at PPH starting mid-way through my visit is making me re-evaluate doing a character breakfast. I'd opted not to do a breakfast because I don't want to take up the least crowded part of the day eating breakfast when we can have something in our rooms. But now that Mickey is going to be there?!? I'm thinking a late morning breakfast on Saturday or Sunday at PPH may be just the ticket!

Now...what are they going to do with Yamabuki's old space?

I was thinking about this. I haven't heard any plans on what's going on with this space.

Oh please, oh please, oh please...put a sushi place back in!

OH NO!!! This is our favorite of all! We were just there last Thursday and DD loved the interaction and the food. You did not get the turn 'em and burn 'em that you get at the others. DD and DH will be so dissapointed! I'm just gald we got in one last time!

Assuming Lilo & Stich will still be part of this meal adding Mickey is great news IMO ~ we had a late breakfast/brunch there in Sept. We enjoyed it very much ~ DD learned to Hula with Lilo! We also got to meet Daisy!!
