Ok, I just about had it now. I posted on here about AirTran messing up our flight times. In order to get a good flight we had to stay at Disney another night. When I made these arrangments the CM told me that I could cancle my air and get a 100% refund. I called 2 times yesterday and asked the cm's if that would still apply. Both of them said yes. Then my hubby came home and I talked it over with him. He said call them up again ( I know how it is every cm you talk to says something different). I did call them again and asked. SHe said they can do it both ways (Its up to Airtran) give me a refund or give me a voucher. I asked well which would it be. Just put me on hold and came back and said "They will give you a full refund". I asked how we go about doing that. She put me on hold again and said the tickets would have to be mailed certified mail and once they get them we will be refunded. I asked her the adrress, and then my hubby started talking to me and asked me to ask Disney if we could think it over and call them back in the morning. I di do that and I did ask her if the tickets were canceled and she said "NO". Ok,then a few minutes later..just for the helk of it I looked on Airtrann website to view our itinerary and guess what......Our tickets were canceled!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I called DIsney again and the cm said we dont have any flight info here for you. He read me what was on his computer and it stated that guest(me) told them to cancle the tickets......Also at the end of that it also did say "Guest" is unsure of decision and will call back tomorrow! He then put me to air help..... Well she could do nothing for me....except make me cry!!!!!!!!!!! Telling me no matter what..I have to pay $50/person to re do these tickets!! If there is an increase in the tickets I have to pay the difference! She has it right there in front of her face what I said and I am still being charged this fee because a cm messed things up! This to me is crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!! She said she could not let me know anymore until the rep from airtran gets back to her. Next week sometime. What do I do?? Is this the way it works?? I really am ready to cancle my whole trip!

I'm sorry, I don't have any advice. Hopefully there's a travel agent here who would be able to help, but I just saw your post and wanted to say I'm sorry! That sucks. :sad1:

But please don't let it ruin your magic. Hopefully if you make enough noise, you can get these reinstated without penalty since it wasn't your fault. Also, have you checked other airlines, too? We're flying Southwest, it was cheaper than Air Tran for us.

Ok, I checked DIsney web site and our air was back on there. I then checked Airtran web site and it wasnt on there. I then called Airtran and the lady I talked to said our reservations are there. DO you think this is taken care of? Lastnight our air wasnt on the web site. I am going to call Disney this morning. Thank you.

What a nightmare. We always book our airfare separately from our WDW package. The package is easier to cancel or change that way.

Sorry to hear about your troubles.

I noticed you live in Pennsylvania, would it be possible to drive at all? I know you might lose a day or two but at least you'd get to go and it might be cheaper!

If driving is an option or if you can book your flights by yourself I would contact someone at Dreams Unlimited first, get them to book the exact package you have now (minus flights of course) and when they can confirm that has been done, cancel your other ones with Disney direct. Dreams don't charge more than Disney and their customer service is far superior (I find a lot of Disney CM's quite pushy when i'm trying to get questions answered as they just want to sell fast).

I hope you don't have to cancel!

honestly with all the problems you have had I would call and ask to speak to a supervisor. I think they need to be aware of what you are going through and the hassel it has called.

I definetly would NOT cancel a trip due to this snafu. Either work it out, or just get your money back from AirTran and rebook with AirTran or simply use a different carrier. It's not gonna be easy and i doubt they will reinstate a "canceled" ticket. The way i understand it is like a bank card, once you report the card lost or stolen, the block it. Once blocked, that card can NEVER be activated again. I think this is how the airline tickets work also. Hopefully they can resolve the issue, but whatever happens, don't cancel your trip to Disney for a foul up. Once you arrive at WDW, everything will be much better, i promise. :wizard:

Just got off the phone with DIsney (airhelp). My flights are back in, but they are unsure about the penalty. They have to wait for the AIrtran rep to get back in touch with them. According to the Airtran website I was already charged an additinal $26.00. I was paying $99 each way, now paying $104.00. Last night I when I was talking to airhelp I did ask to speak to a manager, and her reply was maam we do close today at 10pm. It was 9:22 at that time. I really dont know what to do!! We were thinking about just driving down that is why we were going to cancle these flights anyway.

Well it might be worth having just one more go at getting them to drop any charges as this was not your fault. However I would insist on something in writing because it doesn't seem that they follow through on what they say to you.

Can you still keep that reservation minus the flights with no penalties? If you can it might be less stressful to drive down! How long does it take to drive to WDW for you guys? (I'm so jealous!) :goodvibes

It would take us about 21-22 hours to drive. I am not sure how our kids would be we have a 2 year old and a 5 year old:confused:  . I dont understand why we would be charged extra...it was not our fault! It clearly says on Disney's computer that "guest is unsure will call back". How is this right???? This morning Disney did say our air is back on there, but they are unsure if they are going to sock us with the $50/person fee!! I feel like I am going to:sad:

I would definitely then do as people above have suggested and speak to a supervisor right away and explain everything from the start. It's terrible that they are making you stress so much about this. In fact let them know not only about how they have screwed up but the amount of time you have spent trying to sort this out and worrying about this. It's very poor customer service.

If they do insist on you paying a penalty then I would definitely ring up Dreams and try to book your package with them and then go back and cancel with Disney once your new reservation is confirmed. It just isn't worth the aggravation.

I hope you manage to sort this out, i'll keep my fingers crossed for you! :thumbsup2

air tran is a NIGHTMARE:scared1: , we feel for ya...........We can count a couple times that we got screwed with them changing flight times, connections that were late, etc, but, it will all be worth it when you get off the monorail and your lil ones see the castle!Dont cancel, hang in there and I DO feel that due to what the CM wrote in her notes, you DIDNT cancel, you should NOT pay re-instatement fees, PERIOD. Ask for a supervisor. It will all work out in the end.

Thank you everyone for your support. I hope it does all work out for us. Disney said they would have someone contact me today. I hope it is this morning so my mind could be at ease! I have been up just about all night with this on my mind. :scared:

You have to remember that Disney is your agent with Airtran . Why should Airtran pay for a Disney mistake.

Now you should not have to pay for either and I would go as high as you need to on the customer service end to make sure you don't with Disney.

We have always booked our flights separate from our package as well just because of this you really don't own that flight until you walk on the plane Disney does.

This is why we don't and never have used a travel agent to book the package either (they own it until you check-into the room.

Have a great trip and insist (keep record of who/when and why ,you spoke to and they (Disney)should cover any fees charged to you.

I dont understand...if Airtran was going to charge me the extra money that would have been in Airtrans system right? When I talked to Airtran this morning she said there were no fees except $26.00 (They are making me pay this because supposedly the rate went up on the departure day?!?!?!? I am ok with paying the $26 (even though I should not have to pay a more dime). I dont even know how to go about talking to managment. Everytime I call Disney they put me right over to Airhelp. Like I said lastnight I asked to speak to a manager and she told me they close at 10pm...it was 9:22pm?!?!?!?!? I am sick over this!

I'm not sure if Airhelp is Disney or Airtran so their is where the problem might be. I would have told her " Well then you have 38 minutes to correct this.

When you call back (as I would and would not be paying the $26 ) Ask for a supervisor right then. Explain the Airhelp has been no help and you are dissatified with the response you recieved from them.

When that supervisor gets on ask for the name of His/Her boss and an E-mail address as well as his/her name and E-mail.

Insist that you should not be charged for the mistake that they made or credited for any payment you might have to make.

Please don't be sick with this Disney is very good when it gets into upper Managements hands and it come to be their fault. You will still have a wonderful vacation .

I am not sure what happended with the reservation, but I have booked with airtran alone and not with Disney. Airtran always changes flight times and it really drives me nuts. They did it to us once when we were taking a cruise and the flight home was changed to earlier then the cruise ship came back. I was told by airtran that if they changed the flight I was allowed to change my flight without being charged a penalty. So if they originally changed flight times you should not have to pay any penalty.

We flew Airtran last year and never had a problem. To me it isnt airtran that is messing up though. It is DIsney!!!!!!! Only because the lady I talked to lastnight said that she had to talk to Airtran to see what the penalty is. I would think because it is DIsney's fault they canceled the air they should pay....NOT ME!!!! Expecially when it says on their computer system...guest is unsure will call back!! Where in that statement doesnt airhelp understand. SHe said when I asked the cm called airhelp and then it was canceled. I didnt tell her to cancle i wanted to know how to go about doing it!! She went to give me the adresse to send our tickets back and said to her "you know what...can I just think about this and call back tommorrow with my choice....I then said it isnt canceled yet is it??? SHe said "NO"!!!!

If Airtran decides to be a stickler and charge you extra fees, take the trip, but be sure you get extras from Disney to cover the penalty. You decide what to ask for, but get enough value back to cover. Meals, show tickets, water park or disney quest passes, you decide, but ask for something in return.

My mom lives in PA, got stranded in Pittsburgh when Airtran decided to simply cancel a flight. USAir took care of her and she been very loyal to them since. She vowed to never fly Airtran, and she hasn't. I've stayed away from them as well. I have found Southwest to be a much better "cheap" carrier, but I don't really like flying them either. Many times I fly the carrier forced to lower prices because Southwest in now there competing.

I know everyone is blaming Disney, but having followed this saga...

There's a lesson in here. Everytime you call and say can we do XYZ and then say Wait, maybe we don't want to that etc. you run the risk of having this type of situation.

Reading the OPs first post I can see exactly why this happend. She was almost thru the cancel part when DH showed up and they decided to wait. There are probably several parts to this conversation that aren't documented here including the side conversation with DH any of which could easily have confused a CM. As I read the post it appears to me she was cancelling, we were up to getting the address to send the money too when DH showed up.....

The OP is also calling both Disney and AirTran? That's a lot of fingers messing around in your ticket.....

(Pulling on flame proof suit....)

I am not sure she shouldn't have to pay......
